Joe McElderry - The Voice of Britain! What a standard at his young age. His USP is the Voice and he must concentrate on that. No hype or clever marketing to the masses - just the Voice.
I don't think he gets the credit he deserves, but good for him that he is doing his own style of music, and not trying to be mainstream, that's a true artist!
This was played at my Granddad's funeral on the 11th of January this year (2012), and since then I have not been able to listen to it all the way through - and I don't think I ever will be able to again. A beautiful song, and a very fitting tribute to a man whom I knew so well, but in some ways didn't know at all. RIP.

One word: Amazing. His transition into Opera/Classical has obviously worked, his voice is just right. I'd probably say he's a good alto / tenor ... (I study music before people say I don't know what I'm talking about)

the first time i listen the song was in the end of my relatives wedding when i was 10, 12years later, i still cant forget the melody of this song. The most wonderful thing is one of my favor singer sing this song again!!!!!! I bought the album right the way !!! Love it
This song was originally written for Andrea Bocelli, therefore, it will always be his song to so many. Youngo Joe has done an amazing version here. More than capable of doing classical crossover like Bocelli. IMO you are using your dislike of Joe to condemn this beautiful version of the song. Unfortunately for you, Joe McElderry is not fading "out like all X-Factor winners". He has achieved more success away from the XF under the DECCA label than anything SYCO could dream achieving with him.
This guy can sing any type of song and does so on his tours, mixes it really well and includes some classical crossover such as this. Joe has said he's not an opera singer which would require years of dedication to become one. There is no other young pop singer who has his ability to sing anything, and I for one love to hear him sing so many different types of songs as I just adore his voice.

He found a genre that really suits him and works perfectly with his music. You just don't appreciate real talent. I love his first album but "classic" is far better.

I think he sings it way better than Andrea and Sarah, particularly Sarah. I never liked her, far too weezy, but I love Joe's version. His voice is very grounded in his body. Love it.
@Boise666 Olly Murs had a lot more puplic exposure, that's why he is successful, but everytime he and Joe are on the same stage people agree that Joe is much better. And in any case, Joe is moving in a different direction now. I think that's called expanding ones horizon!!!
