I'm glad that I found your channel. You put me in mind of myself. Always out in the woods getting wood no matter what the weather is like. Awesome videos
Yes your videos remind me of my logging days with a timberjack 1st one was a 1988 timberjack 225A then moved up to a 380A then a cat 525 witch I still have Wat size it your machine
I never understood those high shallow notches, mine are 1/3-1/2 way in, with about 4"-6" high on top cut, then 1" higher on back cut, I hardly ever use wedges........
Well for one, it keeps the butt from having short boards. For two, i don’t drop the trees whatever way they are leaning. It’s all directional felling. I deal with a lot of heavy leaning trees that won’t just tip over with a deep notch. Hope that helps you understand and hope you have a blessed New Year
New sub here. Wouldn’t call that making a mistake brother on that maple. I’m curious if the scaler takes boards off? Great video. Keep posting! Happy New year. Vic
Not on that one. If they slab real bad, they might back it off a bit but the log buyer I use is understanding and does his best for the loggers and landowners
@ I haven’t really noticed a difference. Hard maple can get pretty tough if we see subzero temps but just keeping the trees off the dirt and mud makes a huge difference
must be nice to cut in open timber never had the chance over once or twice, you all private lots that you get or a forester? nice small heart maple, cant you make a little more for 16ft logs looks like you have plenty of tree, what rule?
That’s a heavy load for the little DD engine 😮

@@daveyslogging hey buddy I was wondering if cutting in winter with everything froze if it is harder on your chains on your saws
@ I haven’t really noticed a difference. Hard maple can get pretty tough if we see subzero temps but just keeping the trees off the dirt and mud makes a huge difference
You sure change clothes and saws a lot in a day😉 Nice video though. Subscribed
lol! Yeah “a bunch of days in the day of a life a logger” sounded a bit odd. Thanks for subbing! Hope you have a blessed New Year
