I love the "Signature" scene @ 29:08. The trees look fantastic, and like you say, with a few more, the scene will be stunning. With the lake, as you also say, I would tint the shore a little (sand color), and then pour on the GAC 500 and stipple the whole thing with a damp sponge. A slight ripple on the water will add to the remarkable evolution of the scene. Cheers ~ Boomer. 👍
Congratulations on the pending arrival! Really think the change to curved turnouts and some of the new or moved turnouts will really improve ops. Makes a lot of sense.
Congratulations on the pregnancy and nice layout update. The new water scene is really taking shape. I really like what you are doing near the stairway with the tree scene and the trees. I too, have attempted Boomer's techniques. You should be very happy with what you are accomplishing on your layout.
Dear Rhythm, very cool progress! Very interesting how you changed the approach for the White Hall yard. Love the way it adds to the overpass scene! Cheerio
Your water feature already shows well, maybe look at Boomer’s method for painting water to finish it off??? Excellent enterprise you have in motion. I look forward to updates. PS don’t create any holes that the young ones can get into and you can’t! Thanks for posting.
Like the improvement to White Hall yard, make it a lot better to operate around that whole area and lessen the workload of whoever gets the job of working that yard without having to halt their job on account of anything blocking the yard and the main. Congrats on the little one.
Lots packed into this update…congrats on the upcoming family addition…surprised you found the time building / modifying this monster layout 😊😂…dispatcher gonna get lonely on the second floor😊…new bridge/water scene 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽…the ending shot, looks great without the beach sand & water…
Have you seen the HO scale switch stands that use those micro-buttons for turnout control? @39:34, you show the buttons you have mounted, I am planning a modified version of this for N scale. While I really like the tablets for turnout controls and routing, sometimes you just want to be able to press a button at the switch.
Can I dispatch your layout remotely? From my home? Wait, you know Dave Barraza? Have we met in person? I am going to miss the Jan session, but I try to operate on his layout at least once a month.
I have not been to too many of Dave’s sessions but we may have met at some point. Thanks for checking out my videos! As for Dispatching remotely, the answer is yes. I was doing it with my good friend who lives in PA. Worked pretty well!
How are you mounting the micro switch for the turnouts? It's a great idea, and takes a lot of clutter off the fascia while being really unobtrusive. Most of the micros I have been able to find are square, and they seem difficult to mount onto anything but PCB - which is how most are designed. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
My switches are also square-bodied even though the button itself is round. What I do is that I drill a hole slightly smaller than the switch so that the corners of the switch body make contact with the hole sides. The wood will give a bit and the friction will hold the switch in place. I also put a small amount of wood glue in the hole prior to pushing the switch in. They haven’t come loose in 3 years. Don’t get me wrong…this isn’t easy to do but it does work once you get the hang of it

Agreed on just having the option of a simple button! I’m curious to find out about those switch stands! 😯 Thanks!
