At the end of September Kscope hosted a special night at the Union Chapel in London. Nosound, Engineers, Bruce from The Pineapple Thief and Anathema all performed stripped back sets in front of a sold-out crowd at this breath-taking venue.
The bar for Weather Systems has been set pretty high with 2010's 'Were Here Because We're Here', but Daniel Cavanagh from the band is certain that the album will exceed these lofty expectations, 'it feels like we are at a creative peak right now, and this album reflects that. Everything from the production to the writing to the performances are a step up from our last album.'

I'm simply speechless. I knew that i've chosen well, when I chose to buy their "Serenades" album back in time (1993 i guess..)...and from then i've never missed one of their releases. One release after another...and then...they're the best band in the world. Thank you, Anathema.

If Opeth is 10000 times better, then Anathema is 444 times more beautiful. I do look forward to hearing them, but if they are so much better, why did Anathema change my life for the better first? More recently, Distant Satellites changed my world. I love you now and forever Anathema!

Derek Raimann I agree! I used to love Opeth, they used to be my favourite band, but really often, they don't say much of anything in their lyrics that is profound or transformative. Plus I no longer have the taste for Growlz.
Of Anathema and Opeth: Anathema is the band that has helped me through tougher times. Opeth has only poisoned my consciousness with negativity.
+Алексей Шаповал You missed the original post I replied to. I never listened to Opeth. I am a dedicated fan of Anathema. I wasn't saying Opeth is 10000 times better. I said if, because somebody claimed they were that much better. I never heard Opeth buddy, but this song...right here...Thin Air...this version...I one of my favorite songs of all time! Judge me on that :)
I loved both bands, Opeth is my favorite, I prefer Opeth because I find their lyrics much more intelligent

9 months later but it is open D#! took me way too long to figure out, but you can tell from the final chord and trying to figure out how to play the riff while just going down the strings.

I saw them years ago when they were a doom metal band, I noticed the melodies but at the time it wasn't for me, when VC took over vocals that's when things started to happen.
Great songs, melodies and a new direction, seen them several times, mainly supporting other bands like Porcupine Tree and Opeth, but hopefully this band will be massive - Awesome live!!!!

Great musicians don't need complicated electronic gadgets or super light shows for their performances to be excellent.
I much rather have bands like Anathema who are such musicians than have eye-catching "shows" that are nothing but window-dressing to distract from otherwise mediocre musicianship.
I'm so glad i was fortunate enough to see Anathema live. 1st time at Download festival in Donnignton, we got a special treat in the form of an old track Sleepless ;) Then my second time was at Hyde Park London with my Dad. Was so beautiful and mesmerising to watch and hear live, Hearing tracks like this and Closer was so amazing. Also got to shake Dannys hand and get mistaken for Ville Valo at the same time !
