Happy new year! by watching your video, I realised that I haven't updated my lightroom for so long. Am I the only one who don't update their apps so often???
Awesome!! Have used the sky mask and brushes but the people and object selection is great but where the object select doesn't work and you can paint it and then the ai finds the edges is awesome!!
please note, the Photography subscription on Creative Cloud are Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge bundled under one sub. not 2 unless you do them individually
Great video Mark, maybe you could move the girl a bit to the right, then she would stand in the middle of the picture (-: Is that also possible in LR12 ?
I use Lightroom for iPad and I must say that the new update for healing is a great addition to my workflow. I’ve even stopped swearing while removing a object!
Nice! Indeed useful both tools that you showed here for us. To add something, its nice too that Lr have organized the sliders for masking it helps my steps one by one. Thanks a lot Mark.
Happy New Year to you & yours too Mark! Great tips - thanks. Looking forward to what you have for us in 2023. On a lighter note, either your wrist watch or clock on the wall are not correct - LOL. Best wishes from the UK
Dodge and burn get me all the time too. It's because we no longer think of the negative process. Also, if you did the subject selection, you can then use the add or subtract feature that lets you use the brush to fine tune it.
i have a quick question: why do you never zoom in while making and changing masks? for example at 7:50 you didn't zoom in when it could have been much easier and faster to subtract the trees and the woman's legs
Thanks for sharing this video Mark. I was aware of many of the tools but you showed me a couple of things I had missed or just didn’t know about at all.
The content aware tool is a game changer for me. I batch edit portraits/family Photos in lightroom. I pretty much no longer need PS unless it is really complicated
Thanks. Learned so much in this video. The masking options are getting amazing. The Remove option is so much better than I what I've tried in the past.
Once again your ability to be genuine is evident as you talk about editing your own photos. It is so easy to follow along with you as you edit your own photos and talk about how even in your shots you get blurry photos ( because it happens LOL) job well done once again!
Great video! I like the content remove tool! Using LR also as my catalogue with 450.000 truck pictures. Works very well. Can find any photo in a matter of seconds!
Thanks Mark! I just made a huge leap from Lightroom 4.4 (pre-subscription) to the latest version. I have only been using the new version for a week, while I was starting to get a hang of the masks, this video was a big help.
A excellent video that is so helpful and full of great information!! Please, some time do a video on want you use in Photoshop and how to use the tools. Thanks, Mark for all you do- so helpful!!
I've always wanted to see a Lightroom filter within photoshop, or a more advanced camera raw. Still find myself having to go backwards and forwards between the 2. But great that Lightroom is improving.
Wow! I have loved the new masking tools and used them a LOT in LRC 12. I never figured out how to make the object selection work though. Your video here made it so obvious I feel like smacking my head against a wall for having trouble before. Thanks for this one in particular!
Mark, this is an extraordinary revelation..it will truly change much of my post. Thanks for creating this video and opening the many possibilities this object selection provides. Thanks to Adobe as well for adding this creative tool.
Hey Mark, sounds all very useful. When I tried to use it and with and object, power pole, that was behind a tree, the challenges increased exponentially. Sure, where there are objects clearly defined as in your picture, it seems relatively straight forward. Let me know if you want me to send the picture that a friend sent to me the other day of this tree that is illuminated on the beach, an hour after sunset with the ocean and beach in the background. I would love to hear your thoughts on how you would tackle the leaves and branches crossing the power pole. Great video nonetheless. 👍
Thanks for this video, Mark. I really didn't appreciate either the object selection tool or the content aware eraser in LR. I'll use it a lot more now after your helpful advice
Thanks Mark. Happy New Year. My standard workflow is to start in LR, jump to PS anytime I needed to "change" the image, then finish in LR. I find with the new tools, I jump to PS much less frequently. LR AI does a much better job than I can do in PS. There are still some finishing effects that PS can apply, but overall, LR is good for 90% of what I do.
Thank you for doing this video! It’s so much easier to know how to use new features when someone demonstrates their use on a photo. I don’t have the new update yet, but I’m very excited to start using it now. Happy new year!
Hey Mark. Another great vid! TIP: I stumbled across a Brush tool feature that's super helpful when LR's AI "over-selects" the intended object/subject. Sorry if you've already discussed this but I hope you and your peeps find helpful. I use Brush "A" as my "variable" brush, but set Brush "B" as my "blow it out / aggressive" brush. With "A" I tweak the brush variables depending on the situation. With "B" I leave it set to 100% opacity and 100% flow. A simple CTRL + wheel increases or decreases the size. To Subtract I choose "Subtract using Brush", click on brush B and, Bam! I can clean up any "overflow" in a flash. If i have too add back in, I go back to brush A and play with the flow and opacity. It sure beats readjusting the brush variables all the time (if you only stay with using one brush). Hope this helps!
Thank you very much! Somethings in a photo can be quite annoying and even obnoxious. But at what point do you feel you crossed a line and have cheated on a photo?
Unfortunately, we're back in the office in person and I will have to wait until after work to watch the full video. Just checked youtube for the weekly upload to like and comment hahaha!
Yeah Mark, I agree with you that the clone tool inside Lightroom is now waaaay better! Objects that I would've had issues with to remove cleanly, I would say is now almost 100% to my liking!
Super helpful Mark! Thank you for the demo. Be good if you make a video each time Adobe makes an update to Lr and breakdown the details of new features to us. Cheers from Seattle!
With all these new developments in LR, I’ve especially been enjoying that most of my editing can remain in the RAW dng format before having to jump over into Photoshop. It keeps the image file cleaner, longer.
Good video, one question about the subscription you mentioned. As far as I know Adobe does not offer a Lightroom only subscription but only the Photography package that has Lightroom and Photoshop as a bundle, correct?
Great tips Mark. To be honest I’ve seen the new items such as the object mask but I haven’t paid much attention to it. Thank you for the enlightenment. I can see that being useful going forward.
Waiting for the few changes you showed that haven't made it to ACR yet. It seems Adobe bounces back and forth between introducing changes in Lr or ACR and then migrating to the other a few weeks later
Hey Mark, I’m recently subscribed, thanks for all the content! I have an unrelated question: Where do you order your picture frames from? And is there a difference between “poster frames” and “picture frames”? Thanks
I've been tring out the latest LR vs C1 and I can say hands down I much prefer LR. The fact you have the history tab, the on/off buttons for each setting, there is a smaller thumbnail image of the photo permanently on screen and the user interface is just SO MUCH better and easier to use! Plus i don't like how on C1 how you have to edit the masks over the image and right clicking to change the brush size, flow, hardness etc. LR layout is just much cleaner and minimal. I have a Fuji camera and I know C1 is better for those RAW files but I really don't care tbh. The only downside I have found with LR is is sometimes crashes and is a bit laggy? Does it use hardware acceleration do you know? Thanks very much.
💥Happy New Year!! Have you downloaded the New Lightroom Update yet?
I know I probably should not, but I always update LR as soon as it is released.
Happy New Year, Mark! All the best to you and yours. I didn't even know there'd been this update. I shall get on it now! Cheers.
Yes but only starting to use them. A winter project.
Happy new year! I will update now that I saw your new video!
I'm a Ps guy but I enjoy seeing your Lr edits, Camera Raw for me. I enjoy seeing your edits as most transfer over. Happy New Year.
Excellent thanks and PS, think your red clock has stopped!
Happy New year Mark, to you and all those you call your own. Another interesting video and thanks for sharing.
Great update by Lightroom! Also great vid Mark.
Happy new year! by watching your video, I realised that I haven't updated my lightroom for so long. Am I the only one who don't update their apps so often???
Lightroom keeps getting better and better.
Agreed!!

Really helpful video! Thanks, Mark!
Fantastic video, well done sir!
This is your best LR Edit video yet! Of course it just might be related to the new power of LR masks. :). Thanks a million!
Wow, thanks Chris!!
Hapy New Year!! Just downloaded LR earlier today. I'm hoping to get a few nice shots, then use LR. I'm getting excited just talking about it!
Great video Mark, maybe you could move the girl a bit to the right, then she would stand in the middle of the picture

Excellent! You pointed out a few things I was not aware of when using content aware. This is a big help to me.
Good to be your subscriber.
Thanks for useful update.
I won't be able to figure out these things without watching this video.
Thanks so much!
Happy New Year to you & yours too Mark! Great tips - thanks. Looking forward to what you have for us in 2023. On a lighter note, either your wrist watch or clock on the wall are not correct - LOL. Best wishes from the UK
Could you turn on the captions? Thanks!
Thank you Mark. This was an incredibly useful video. I learned a lot.
Great job Mark, thank you for breaking it down for this guy.
Of course - glad to do it Rich!
Great Video Mark- I like the explanation on both items and you made it much clearer to me
Dodge and burn get me all the time too. It's because we no longer think of the negative process.
Also, if you did the subject selection, you can then use the add or subtract feature that lets you use the brush to fine tune it.
So helpful - thank you, Mark !!
Glad you think so Phillip!
i have a quick question: why do you never zoom in while making and changing masks? for example at 7:50 you didn't zoom in when it could have been much easier and faster to subtract the trees and the woman's legs
Great tips Mark. The LR program has become much, much more useful. Thanks for the clear explanations and have a great New Year.
Your videos are so clear & helpful, thank you! I learn a new trick / hidden feature every time 👏🏻
Thanks for sharing this video Mark. I was aware of many of the tools but you showed me a couple of things I had missed or just didn’t know about at all.

Any way that you can produce a mobile best practices video? For tablet specifically?
Fantastic training video! Clear, concise and easy to absorb. Thanks very much. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As usual - I have used the new tools already, but I learn how to fully utilize them with your help. Thanks!
Great to hear!
Thanks for the tuition. I never noticed these extra improvements but I’m going to try them now.
Thanks!
You never cease to identify and simplify important editing techniques. Thanks again Mark. Love your work!
Wow! Love the content awareness tool! Thanks so much, Mark! Always pick up amazing tidbits from watching each of your videos. Thanks so much!
Mark - When you use the mask tool how do you get Lightroom to accept the changes you have made ???

As a local, this spot is full of photographers during the fall. It’s one of the go to spots for most landscape photographers.
Thank you, from a hobbyists ,lightroom is great for me, you always give good advice.

I found the selection tools by accident and absolutely love to be able to paint and or select what to mask. Thanks! #Adorama #CreateNoMatterWhat
Great video to start 2023. These are definitely tools that add to the power of Lightroom. Thanks for demonstrating them so effectively.
Thanks Michael!
Thanks for this video, Mark. I really didn't appreciate either the object selection tool or the content aware eraser in LR. I'll use it a lot more now after your helpful advice
Thanks for the good and clear update. As a new subscriber it is pleasure to watch your great education videos

Thank ya Paul!

Thanks David!
Thx, picked up a couple useful tips from this.
Thanks Mark for this super helpful video ! You are gifted as a teacher as well a photographer. A happy new year !
Thank you! Very helpful!
Great explanation of these masking tools, Mark. Keep up the good work!
Glad you like them!

Thanks for your free course Mark really appreciate it.
Very welcome John!
@@MarkDenneyPhoto it's not often you get things free in life.. take care and regards from the UK.
love the object mask. Content aware has been a little hit or miss for me.
Yeah same, but I find it a much improved option to clone/heal
The "Person" mask is looking for faces. That's why it didn't work in this picture. Nice video :)
Great video Mark ! I use Camera Raw but all the same tools and learned some new features from your video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Mark, so clearly and simply explained even I can understand. You helped me so much with these. Happy New Year.
Glad to do it Donald!!
I realy like LR, now I came across DoX PhotoLab that has some great Features also, ever tried that?
Thank you
Welcome!
As always, VERY helpful, Mark. I constantly look forward to your videos as I attempt to improve my photo passion. Thank you!
Hey Mark, Happy New Year to you! What about a video on a Capture One topic? Cheers, Mark
Happy New Year! I made 2 C1 videos a couple months ago if you’d like to check those out👍

My subscription includes Ps and Lr. My $10 subscription rate was grandfathered in after they raised the price.
Thanks Mark
Well done Mark
