In this week’s episode, we discuss a hard Lightroom skill that pays off forever! There's a ton of photo editing tips, techniques, and best practices out there, but none of them have had as great of an impact on my editing workflow as this Lightroom skill has. Now this isn't the easiest skill to learn as it typically just takes experience, editing hundreds of photos throughout the years to develop this, but in this video I hope to greatly reduce that learning curve for you. I really hope you enjoy this week's video and feel comfortable trying this technique out the next time you begin editing some of your favorite photos. As always thanks so much for watching! - Mark D.

One thing I noticed right away when you toggled between the Raw image and the completed image were the berries. In the Raw photo, you really can't see them but when you warmed up the middle, that red shows up much easier and helps to add to the scene.

I just learnd a lot from this video. I am an AMETUER landscape photographer. I've been using lightroom classic for a few months now. As I watched you edit this image, my thoughts raced a an image of mine that I am pretty proud of. I thought it looked pretty good. And I guess it does. But I plan to use the techniques you are teaching in the video on that image and see if I can't punch it up even more. Thank you Mark for the lesson. But first I'm going to get ready for the day. Then I'm going outside to take some photographs of the snow that is falling. That is, I'm heading to the same location where I took the picture I talked about to shoot another photo. The scene I'm referring to reaaaaaalllly needs to be photographed in the snow. As always Mark, thank you for the lesson. Don't stop making these videos. Every time I watch one of your lesson videos I feel like my photography IQ goes up a few points.

Another top notch lesson here on using light to enhance the view. Some people don’t understand digital photography and raw files so let their nay says roll off your back. There are times when processing a scene I begin to question myself for using multiple brushes, radials and grads and today’s video confirms that some times that’s what is necessary to complete the look. Thanks 😊

Wild seeing these techniques parallel almost identically to analog darkroom dodging and burning in the print process. Never used Lightroom (darktable bc free) but it’s always cool to see how the techniques from decades ago have been transferred digitally.

This video is one of your best! You are well spoken, the agenda flows nicely, and I can see real progress as you move from one step to the next.

I'm a Lightroom newbie. I picked it up to do color correction, but this idea of the 'optical journey' is a wonderful new way of thinking about the tool. I know it's a rich environment that no doubt takes years to master. Your presentation is very clear; doesn't talk down to the beginner, and MOST importantly, gives a photographic reason to use a given set of tools.
