    Just started getting into watching earlier wsm finals from the 90s. Manfred was awesome, shame he didnt win one but came so close in 1994. His physique was insane!
    All around outside of his sport achievements he seems like one of the most down to earth and humble guys. Such a good outlook on life too.
    Thanks for this video

    I met and new Manfred in the mid 1990's He came walking into my restaurant in Los Gatos CA I turned around and my Jaw just hit the floor. The size of this man and to be so lean with a six pack was insane. what a nice and super cool dude he was. I wish him all the best and good health.

    Manfred is from Austria, the same country I've been living for 34 of my 36 years (my family moved over here during the Balkan war) and I'm a big fan of him. He was the funniest strongman at the time, maybe one of the funniest ever. No matter what the interviewers were asking him about, he always found a way to turn the convo about his "enormous muscles" without even having the slightest bit of ego or narcissism which made it so funny. Really charismatic dude, and strong as an Oak - the true Austriak oak. The Arnold of Strongman.

  • @ultimateformulations

    Great athlete and all around good guy by all reports. I believe he is the first person to be famous that obviously used site enhancement injections. His upper arm muscles were distorted and blurry while the rest of his physique was chiseled. Triceps especially looked "off." This does not necessarily mean he was using "synthol." But, in the mid-late 80s it was becoming more common to experiment with injecting in a muscle to get it to swell up. Some took it farther than others. i.e. Gregg Valentino- injected huge amounts of gear into his shoulders and arms.

    • @gb5584
      @gb5584 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      When people stop injecting/training and lose body weight their arms stay big, but he when he had the accident his arms shrank just like the rest of hia body did.

    • @ultimateformulations
      @ultimateformulations 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @gb5584 You could be correct. But, i can give you a list of site enhancement users whos arms have shrunk over the years: greg valentino, flex wheeler, milos sarcev- all have arms reasonably in line with their current physiques vs what they got from injections. Real world outcomes are rarely as black and white as your premise.

      The videos of Manfred posing are not of him one year after training and there are no pictures of him at this stage so who is to say how he looked or how big he was but he certainly wouldn't have been anything like the size he was as a strongman. It is perfectly true that genetics is the most important factor, there are plenty of guys that take Steroids and Sarms who barely look like they lift. Checkout the older video's of Cassady Campbell for a good example, he was training for quite a while and using Tren and other substances.
