Could It Be Magic" is a song that combines the talents of lyricist Adrienne Anderson and composer Barry Manilow. The song was inspired by Frédéric Chopin's Prelude in C minor, Op. 28, No. 20. The song features a lush, romantic melody typical of popular music of the time. Its unique combination of classical and pop elements has made it a much-loved classic that continues to inspire listeners today. "Copacabana", "Can't Smile Without You" et "I Write the Songs" have become anthems ... Thanks Teez !
Barry Manilow is such an exceptional pianist, songwriter, singer, at the age of 80 he still packs the house with so much energy, beautiful thanks for the memories Teez 🫶🏻💕🫶🏻
I totally thought of you when this popped up! I can see you jamming to Barry Marilow. I don’t know this song, but I have totally belted out a Manilow tune in my day or in my car at a stop light.
First look up who Frédéric Chopan is , classical pianist composer 1839 , who wrote that beginning, what Barry did was made a ballad out of it , which is freaking really cool , just like now when artist use songs from the past .
At age 80, Barry just celebrated his 50th year as a recording artist and recently broke Elvis Presley's long standing record of performances on the very same stage that Elvis played in Las Vegas in the 60s and 70s until his death. Barry still has a residency at that venue. Barry also had an original musical for which he composed the score called "Harmony" just close on Broadway. He has a brand new album of original pop music set to drop later this summer. Barry is the showman of his generation and I have grown up with his music since I was in junior high school. He's got a DEEP catalogue of hits. BTW -- He not only sang "Could It Be Magic" but composed the music, co-wrote the lyrics, composed the band and strings arrangement (which is an orchestra on the studio recording, which is a longer and better version at 6:29 - this one cut down for TV - which I encourage you to listen to), and arranged the background vocals. Barry does it all. Happy listening!
Classical music is totally different than classic music. That’s are very different and very enjoyable area of study. Most folks aren’t going to hear it these days unless they search for it. What folks today may not realize is that whether we knew or learned about these artists, some of us got a little exposure to Chopin, Liszt and other classical artists from the occasional Bugs Bunny or Tom and Jerry cartoon. 😜 Regardless, I always enjoy any artist that is willing to bring the piano front and center. LOVE THEM!
I t does have that melancholy sound to it. Yes. Makes me wonder if she will say yes to him. I heard this a lot on the radio in the 70's but never saw this video! Thanks for posting. Very nice reaction.❤❤❤
The classical music instrumental piece this song was based on (and that was played solo on piano at the beginning and end) was written in 1839 by Polish composer Frederick Chopin (pronounced like "show-PAN"). So "Could It Be Magic" isn't a cover of that, per se.
The piano is awful, and I can certainly tell why Manila wasn’t a classical pianist. And I really like this song, but not live….the recording is much better.

The studio version of this song is A-MAAA-ZING!!!
Listen, I’m 53 years old. I grew up, listening to Barry. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest love songs ever and it’s a masterpiece.
it is THE masterpiece of Barry!
I think Manilow's greatest hits album was my first. Had a medley of his biggest commercials. 😂

Mr Chopin was a rocking guy, very famous. Pity he died in 1849.

Frédéric Chopin was a pianist and composer born in 1810 in Poland, he lived and died in France, if you want to compare you will have to go classical 👍
❤
A haunting song from my childhood. Beautiful, but every time I hear it today, I get chills.
The studio version is much better though.
It’s pronounced Show pan, not Choppin’
Hi Teez 🥰.
