17,000 sanctions (16,500 + the latest 500) in 13 "packages". Also the Rub-dollar rate on the surface isn't very indicative as there is very little direct trade in USD or with theUS byRussia. The Central bank also regulates the rate to avoid it getting to "strong/high" for instance a 1 Rub - 10 USD, would make it very hard for exporters, while 65 - 90 Rub to 1 USD is a good rate.
Hey Sam, could you please tell us about the healthcare system and just the general cost and availability of things like vitamins? Pretty please. Greetings from Africa.
I buy lots of vitamins. Mainly I buy online and they are delivered in a couple of days. I take Omega, Vitamin D, C, macca, ZMA, Tongkat And others. They are all very cheap. I’ll make a video about healthcare.

The prices in Sweden are high but the wages are some of the highest in Europe, so it’s all relative, I guess. I reckon these fruits come from countries who are friendly with Russia and so prices are low.

It seems they are doing better after the sanctions than before.... Here in America they are closing stores because of crime adn people have to drive further and further for groceries
Wow! The average annual Russian salary is 1,240,000 rubles! More than a million every year! But that's less than $15,000 a year. The average American salary is $59,000. So the price of potatoes in L.A. doesn't really matter, does it?
By the way, potatoes were brought to Russia from Europe (where they arrived from America a hundred years earlier) at the end of the 17th century and were initially considered an exotic dish that was served at royal banquets. The peasants refused to grow it and even staged potato riots. But later potatoes became the most common folk food.
I have noticed a lot less eggs in my store as well, and no "Eggland's Best" at all. They are the high quality eggs I like the best. I love those Martina brand sunflower seeds. You can only find them in Russian/Armenian stores. I am weird and eat the shells in all. I like them because the shells are so thin and have the perfect balance of salt. I haven't had any since last year. I don't use shampoo at all. I use a slightly bourgeoisie bar soap in my hair and on my body.
I live in the Tver region (Russia) and eggs never disappeared from sale, even when the price for them was increased. They are stacked in the nearest shopping market.
It was all the same, only before we had 2-3 brands of cola (Pepsi and Coca-Cola), and now there are more than ten of them and the variety of other sodas has increased significantly. And the problems with eggs are unlikely to be related to sanctions; for a year and a half everything was fine. The problem is the bird flu epidemic, which is why many factories have closed for quarantine.

@SamsRussianAdventures I have spent a few short trips to Europe but noticed overall the food quantity outside the US is much better. Too many fillers and chemicals to keep food looking better for longer. I feel better when I eat overseas.
No wonder the average Russian 40-65 y.o. is enamored with Putin and his government. These Russian shops are a dream compared to the pre-1999 shopping environment, and certainly a different world entirely when the Communists ran the nation for 70 years, when there was nothing in the shops at all. Metro is comparable to Sam's Club, Costco, BJs, or the other bulk supermarkets in the US. But the goods selection and their high quality is still amazing, compared to what was available to the Russian public years and decades ago. Thanks for the tour, Sam; it was fascinating. Hi Sam, really fun and interesting video today. We have these kinds of stores in the US and yes, they're not "proper grocery stores". Would be interesting to see you in a proper grocery store. We do have those sunflower seeds in America and they're very popular. They are roasted and salted and we eat them whole. We do put the whole seed in our mouth, break it open, eat the seed, and spit out the shells. : )
Metro is german, operated from germans and the moneys goes to Germany, yes! But ok, they contract lots of Russians and give them jobs! But thinking on sanctions should affect Russians by food, is senseless…and nonsense…

If you take into consideration that the average salary in Russia is $500-700 per month, then you'll realize how high these prices are. That's the reason why there are no people there.
Unfortunately these supermarket tour vids get the most views on TH-cam. People seem to be obsessed with supermarkets in Russia. I love your channel and I hope you won't do supermarket tours every second video like Russell. I love the way you explore the most unexpected places and it's made me a loyal viewer.
Metro and Globus are german markets. Aushan is french. If the prices in Auchan sometimes are cheaper it is, because it’s french and because they have usually even bigger shops and more products…like clothes etc…hyper markets
The issue for typical Russian citizen ever since fall of Soviet Union is not lack of products, its lack of money to buy those products. Since Russia makes all of its own food, food hasn't been affected by sanctions much
Stop writing outright lies! Don't have money to buy groceries? Lies! It is possible for premium goods, it is expensive in any country, but the products are quite affordable.
Well it’s a half of truth. Yes and no. Now is not the best times for sure. But not the worst either. The biggest difference is not in prices but in attitude towards them and mentality in general. The worst we live the strongest we become. Thanks for sanctions.
Metro certainly has enough products in stock. Prices are inexpensive for Westerners due to the devaluation of ruble. Indeed, there are just a few shoppers in the market.. I recently went to Costco warehouse in the U.S. Hundreds of customers shopping at any given time of the day..
Jamesone Black Barrel Russian Price: 3369 Rubles = $36 USD. In United States, $37 to $70 USD. Lemons in the U.S. approximately 3x higher. The catfood is about 4x higher in the U.S. The food industry for pets in the U.S. exploits pet owners because they know people spend more on their pets here than they do on unwanted children. Just to let you guys know the real U.S.A.
Because there are lots of small groceries stores in Russia in walk distance from your home as well as huge super markets in suburbs of big cities, also many people order delivery of food from these stores home. I do it every week instead of wasting my time shopping.
Privyet, Sam. Shampoo is "shampun." If I didn't see the Cyrillic alphabet on the packages, I would have thought you were in the U.S., Canada, UK, etc. Lots of choices, a super clean and organized store, and relaxed shopping. That's as good as it gets. Two questions, if you don't mind. First, do Russians debate Genetically-Modified foods vs Organic/Locally-Grown foods? It's quite a debate here in the U.S. It's almost a debate between food quality and food security, though. I am not sure GMOs are a big deal in Europe, though. It seems a lot of citizens are against them. Second, do you not eat pork because it's unhealthy? I was raised on a small cattle farm, so beef was always on the table. That said, I try to eat very healthy and I don't eat a lot of pork. Hardly ever, actually. Specibo. Khoroshaya rabota.

Sanctions never were made for nutrition, medicine or other urgent things people need for life!
If it’s cool and convenient for you, that Metro and others keep operating in Russia, this is another question. Finally they are supporting the war in some aspects. That all this it’s effecting us in the west? If you wanna think so…for me personally, it doesn’t matter or affect me…at all!
But to be honest, the real sanctions, we are talking about, you’ll see and feel, when they’ll effecting you earlier or later…or what do think will happen, when the war-economy production in Russia will end? Are you ready for this moment? Is a russia ready for it? Do you have enough technology? Workers? IT? Will anybody buy your products? Export vs Import? BRICS? What will happen then…? So, we will see and expect this moment! If it’s working out, i am the last jealous person, but i am doubting it…very much!
And finally now it’s on you! Shopping and supporting Germany or France, or preferably buy some cheaper russian products? and consequently then forget about the quality and standards you had/have, drink russian beer, eat russian cheese, sweets and everything else too…

Hey Sam, could you please tell us about the healthcare system and just the general cost and availability of things like vitamins? Pretty please. Greetings from Africa.
I buy D3 for 3-4$ 2000 mE 60 tablets, and complex B3-B6-B12 for 2$ for 40 tablets. There is no shortages ror vitamins or any other medications
I buy lots of vitamins. Mainly I buy online and they are delivered in a couple of days. I take Omega, Vitamin D, C, macca, ZMA, Tongkat And others. They are all very cheap. I’ll make a video about healthcare.

Thank you 🙏
What is your monthly grocercy & utilities expenditure? 😊😊
The video was about my monthly groceries expenses!!! For utilities, in summer about $30 and in winter $150. I have a 3 bedroom house.
My family consists of 3 people. The city of Lipetsk. The apartment is 80 sq. m. Utility costs in winter per month are about $ 100, in summer 50. Food is about 350 per month. The family's monthly income is about $1,400.
Good info, thank you. I'm surprised hot water and heating get so expensive in winter, isn't energy super cheap in Russia?
So, you did it, Sam. Perfect video with references, not everyone will understand. xD
🤣🤣🤣👍
I enjoyed your video Sam...the price of Jameson's Black was $35 USD? Do they sell Mexican tequilas like Don Julio, Patron, El Jimador, Cien Anos? Happy trails and peace and health...
I am an American expat traveling in Mexico for now but might head back to the Philippines. I can't take the cold anymore Sam but I have always wanted to see the sights in Russia.
I know we have Don Julio. I haven’t bought tequila for a very long time. We do have quite a few varieties. I know what you mean about the weather! I’m looking forward to summer
10,000 RB where income is at 50,000-80,000 RB, it looks very expensive
It’s not a cheap shop. Also, many incomes are much higher. Those incomes are people who work in a shop for example.
The grocery prices are amazingly good
👍👍👍
In the US, Fireball is flavored liquor for wimmens. 😁
Interesting? What do men drink?

@@SamsRussianAdventures I drink lagers and craft Kentucky bourbons, every once in a great while I will have tequila.
Salmon Sandwiches?? and I heard that the Fireball Has formaldehyde in it.. Banned in the EU..lol.. We all switched here to Apple Crown... and keep one in the freezer... Your prices are very good there for most stuff.. I was interested in the big pork butts you didn't price them.. I generally get there here for the Grill.. and eat for a week or 2..lol I also Buy leg of Lamb for about 22-26 dollars.. 5-6 lbs..
I’ll try and show the price of pork in another video. I don’t eat pork so I just skipped it.
@@SamsRussianAdventures Ya i can go with that... I try to buy lamb and Ahi Tuna mostly
You can look at any prices in the application if you are interested in something specific.

Interesting video. Can't say I think much of your food taste. But hey! Each to his own.
Fair enough! I love chicken and fish!
How much is vodka?
From $1:00 to $200
My country (the u. s. ) has obviously fooked us. Our food prices are INSANE! Thanks for taking us on this eye opening tour. ✌️
But your salaries (the u. s. ) are insanely high
Glad you enjoyed! Though many Americans have commented that the products in Russia are more expensive than in the US
If you take into consideration that the average salary in Russia is $500-700 per month, then you'll realize how high these prices are.
So true! My views have been down for the last few videos and so I decided to make one!
What else can Russel do? Lol
We would like to see the current situation of the provincial pharmacy, instead of supermarket.
The metro hypermarket is really expensive for no reason, an Aushan and a Globus are much cheaper and have indoor caffeteria 😮
I went here because it’s near to my house and peaceful inside
Metro and Globus are german markets. Aushan is french. If the prices in Auchan sometimes are cheaper it is, because it’s french and because they have usually even bigger shops and more products…like clothes etc…hyper markets
Great commentary
Been in Kazan for a month I reckon the price of food is 30 to 40% cheaper than Australia.
Fab channel Sam ….i love St Petersburg 😎
Thanks! Yes, it’s an amazing city!
Metro certainly has enough products in stock. Prices are inexpensive for Westerners due to the devaluation of ruble. Indeed, there are just a few shoppers in the market.. I recently went to Costco warehouse in the U.S. Hundreds of customers shopping at any given time of the day..
Or even cheap for Russians who have a good salary
@@SamsRussianAdventures What is considered a "good salary" in Vladimir? I'll take a wild guess of $1200.00 U.S., per month.... Am I in the ballpark?
Jamesone Black Barrel Russian Price: 3369 Rubles = $36 USD. In United States, $37 to $70 USD. Lemons in the U.S. approximately 3x higher. The catfood is about 4x higher in the U.S. The food industry for pets in the U.S. exploits pet owners because they know people spend more on their pets here than they do on unwanted children. Just to let you guys know the real U.S.A.
And Russia buys it through another country! Do it must be even cheaper there!
2 years after sanctions?? The thing I noticed is it is a lot less crowded😂😂
Because there are lots of small groceries stores in Russia in walk distance from your home as well as huge super markets in suburbs of big cities, also many people order delivery of food from these stores home. I do it every week instead of wasting my time shopping.
It’s not a supermarket but a cash and carry!
Fun, I dont drink. Great Choice with the Jameson, the Walker Black is also awesome. ... Have you heard of SAMS Club?
Yes! Sam’s club is the American equivalent of Metro, I’ve been told!
@@Pato_7 Thank you. I try to eat mostly organic. It's more expensive, but worth it.

The chiken you bought is not a chicken actually. Its turkey.
It’s chicken! It’s the same chicken I always buy. Perhaps you saw the turkey next to it.
