I don't think so. Most of what it does, could be done on mobile or pc. Also the colours in this are so non intuitive, they should've gone for the order of colour's wavelengths/frequencies.
@@CaptainvonDore I think "a phone can do this" is missing the point, which is having a physical board with a built-in chess engine. I own a DGT Centaur and find sitting at a physical board moving actual pieces much more satisfying than using a phone or computer. Overall I think I prefer my Centaur over ChessUp, but there are pros and cons. If ChessUp ever becomes available here, I'll have to give it some consideration.
This got me so nostalgic for my dad. He used to play on ridiculously old chess machines similar to this. He would've been amazed how much AI has changed chess
Thanks for sharing the memory of your dad. I’m 52 and got one of those for Christmas in 1986. It was a Radio Shack tabletop chess computer. It said “Endorsed by Garry Kasparov the World Champion.” I played it until I could beat it on the highest level. I still have it to this day packed away in the attic and will keep it until I die. I’ve had better ones throughout the years, but you never forget your first. There’s still just something about playing on one of those that can’t be replicated. You brought back memories! I may have to buy one of these.
The ChessUp board is awesome. I have one and I love it. At first the app was pretty broken, but they have fixed it a bunch since then, yet it still does crash occasionally. It is awesome to play on, feels like playing chess in the future, and great practice playing OTB since I want to eventually do tournaments (since you can play against human opponents on lichess).
Nah, too expensive. It's 300$ right now. Also this wouldn't change chess competitions what so ever, so tournaments wouldnt use these boards. Everything this can do you can do online. I'm sure this will find a crowd, but it's not the future (in my opinion)
@@adamnielson42 I agreed with your statement, I the chess boards for tournament will be the same. I shouldn’t have said all but some will definitely change. I will get one if possible.
Doesn't seem worth buying to me. Most of what it does, could be done on mobile or pc. Also the colours in this are so non intuitive, they should've gone for the order of colour's wavelengths/frequencies.
Ive set the board to level 2 ai black its checheked my white king when i try tomove the bishop toblock the check it just keeps flashing purple. Im getting to the point of smashing the board against the wall. Either its broken oris just pure shite.... eota waste of money.

Just got this tried a game with ai assist against ai max level not impressed how it plays. Manual very basic just setup really. Will try to get more up to speed with it but initial thoughts is its crap.
can’t make chess boards but here’s a goofy little idea I have: King Chess: normal chess, but checkmate can turn out to be check. Basically, pawns can promote to kings, under a few rules: This is only doable if the king is in check (or, in terms of the pawns not being able to become kings, checkmate.) If the promotion is blocked by any piece on the promotion row, it is not allowed to be made. Even if the space is protected, it’s an illegal move. The first person to prevent the enemy pawns from promotion, and have the king in checkmate, win.
I stumbled upon this channel by accident a couple of months ago... I don't even own most of these games and yet SOMEHOW I end up watching every single video LMAO
WOULD YOU MIND ADDING THIS MODE INTO YOUR CHANNEL, GIVING ME CREDIT? rock papers scissors chess.(Please read full comment.) The rules are the same as regular chess, except for these changes. A new piece is in the game, called the citizen. The citizen moves like a rook, but only 1 square at a time, so one square horizontally and vertically, not diagonally. Although, it can capture like a bishop one square, so 1 square diagonally in all directions. It is not placed anywhere at the start of the board and is merely a promotion piece, which we will talk about later. To sum up how it moves, it is like a king, but not as important and cannot capture horizontally or vertically, only diagonally. Now, onto the real rules of the game. There is no check or checkmate, every time someone captures a piece, you play rock papers scissors (3 rounds) to see if it is captured or not. If the defending player wins, they keep their piece and it is their turn, if the attacking player wins, they capture the piece like normal. Pawns are not allowed their double step move, therefore, en passant isn't allowed. If a pawn reaches the end of the board, another rock papers scissors match begins. The promoting player must say which piece he would like to promote to beforehand. This time, rock papers scissors is only one round because its a promotion match. If the promoting player wins, he may pick his promotion piece. If the defending player wins, the promoting player's pre picked piece is now demoted one level down. The level goes like this. Citizen, Knight, Bishop, Rook, Queen. You may not pick the citizen to promote to, it is only for if the pre-picked piece was a knight and the promoting player loses. One example is if the promoting player loses and picked a queen beforehand, it is now a rook. If he had picked knight, the pawn is now a citizen. Some other variant ideas of this one are no citizen, instead if he had picked knight and loses, he now picks an enemy piece to make his own. If you do use this idea, please give me credit and give me a shoutout.
This is actually a really neat little gadget.
