  • River restoration isn't the only technique to help rebuild fish populations. That's why California is looking at an innovative method: reclaiming abandoned gravel pits as habitat for salmon.

    California officials have destroyed king salmon fishery. They need to remove all dams and barriers on the rivers. Back in 1970s and 80s. We had good runs of king salmon in the Monterey bay. There were big 25-40lb king salmon. Today 10-15lb hatchery salmon are mostly caught. No native king salmon.

      They rarely have follow-ups to these restoration videos. Very frustrating.

    Talk, talk, talk. Show before and after would be more more interesting to the public and generate more support.
