That is not the point, the point is that the idea itself of a " government by the people" began with the declaration of Independence, prior to that such an idea did not exist. That we have or not have the ideal world that is another story, since humans are not perfect. . And btw, if by "Freedom of Speech" you mean "Freedom to exercise anarchy and ignorance" use this holiday to reflect deeply in your direction in life and keep it real for your own sake and the sake of the world.

@@750suzukias of 1780, Franklin freed all his slaves. Priorly, he did treat his slaves humanely, per the statement of his slaves when they released. John Addams and John Quincy Addams did not own slaves at all. The Addams saw slavery as abhorrent, and demeaning of fellow human beings. Abraham Lincoln did not own slaves, and freed them as well. This is stuff you can Google and find easily.

Yes, but just like the Tower of Babel. With all that favor we must be careful not to be prideful and vain. We should use our blessings to help others and be a light in the world. If we horde and do nothing with it. The Lord won't give us more blessings to share. Just as Israel we have been protected because we we made God our God and none other. Once we commit adultery against the One True God we fume his anger and cause his righteous judgment on ourselves.

Dear Rabbi Simon, I respect and believe in your July 4th thoughts and the very heart of its meaning. However, for some reason we ignore Politics influence on the very essence of our Soul. Denial is a form of disease that blinds us from the Truth. Because the real truth is so excruciatingly painful, most would convulse knowing the ages of pain we've endured. Our political history was distorted beginning in 1871 when Washington DC became a corporation. That was the beginning of the downfall of America. And This July 4th will soon mark the End of Tyranny where Freedom, Peace and Love will reign again.

My advice, find out and recognize who is your true origin and who created and gave you life. this is also Solomon's advice. Don't waste your life in vain. Like Jesus said: Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Our true Father who created us is the only begotten Son of God, he is the First and the Last.
Jesus taught his disciples, his Father is our Father, my God is also your God.

The mean reason why God gave that revelation because Jesus testify who he was and who is his chosen one, the overcomer in the churches.

I think the Greeks would have something to say about America originating "democracy". Regardless of all of that, if you look at the actual facts, it never has been what it should be, and it's worse than ever now. Ask the black community how great America was in 1776, then ask the Tribes. Let's stop pretending.
After I wrote that I realized the Rabbi was just trying to wish us a happy Fourth of July and remind us there are plenty of things that are good and notable about America. He is correct of course, and on such a day to recognize the good is proper.

One correction: The idea that the founding fathers were Deists is much asserted, yet is sorely lacking in evidence. The founding fathers were independant individuals from different walks of life and from different upbringings. To put them in a general box of "they were Deists" is, on its very surface, preposterous. It's time to put this myth of misinformation to rest.
