I have never been to Telemark or for that matter Norway, but I have always been inspired to ever since seeing the film (The Heroes of Telemark) God willing, my wife and I will visit Telemark Norway possibly in 2018/19/2020. Fingers crossed.
If you want to know more about the origins of Telemark skiing, and the real heroes of Telemark, Norway, check out the classic Telemark Skiing movies Unparalled (A Journey from the Roots of Telemark Skiing) and Unparalleled 2, Free World. Both excellent movies with a lot of history and footage of Norway. They are very inexpensive.
snowboarder here. im confused - when an alpine skier crashes, their skis release. with tele, is that also the case? i thought not? how do you prevent injuries when youre skiing park then? (for example, you under/over rotate and catch an edge upon landing - an alpine skier's skis would pop off but tele???)
Hello. Sixty four year old tele dog here. Nice video. But before you can claim to be the future, you have to know the past. Aerials are certainly a new branch of telemarking, and you are definitely on it, but when it comes to straight up skiing the gawd out of it, you got nothing on the best telemark skiers of the late 80s who were skiing the most challenging terrain in leather boots on skinny skis. I went free heel in 1986, & skied in leather boots until I was asked to test drive the original Terminator plastic tele boot. I was not impressed, but that's another story. I ski Utah's Wasatch mountains, and in the 80s, the Wasatch was a tele hotbed. The link below is to a video that in my humble opinion captures the peak of the evolution of the telemark turn, when the leather boot allowed the skier to ski on the balls of his feet & allowed him to perform with a natural freedom and feel that is simply not available in a plastic tele boot. I know first hand. I skied a long time in both. In any case, the guys in the video may not be sending it, but they are definitely bringing it. I'm sure you'll be stoked to see what a skier in leather boots can do. And you could learn a little something from their technique. Now get off my lawn! th-cam.com/video/yXVp-Zv4r2A/w-d-xo.html

When he is making turns look at which ski is front of the other. In a turn with normal ski's your lower ski is further backward than the upper one. But with this it is the opposite.
So impressiv. Keep going guys. Hope Telemarking in general gets more attention. The attention it deserves. Greetings from Germany 😄
I would love to learn. I see them on the slopes and it looks like so much fun.

Hrrm, Erik @2:50... looks a whole lot like La Poubelle in Grands Montets, Argentière-CHX? Need to tick that off my telemark bucket list! *swoon*
This is more like it! Too many of these extreme telemark videos are people on free-heel gear parallel skiing.
Great Telemark skiing, really cool to watch..thx
Telemark, tele board, alpine ski, mono board, soft boot/alpine snowboard. It’s all up to you my friends.

Nothing is as good as telemarking in powder.
Agree!!! Im from Norway about one hour from Telemark.
i tele. but snowboarding in powder and surfing glass peeling waves feels just as good.
Yew! 100k views! Time for another watch.
Couldn’t see doing anything else but mentions surfing first? Skiing has 100% less drama Yerba Brah!
the fart at the end was icing on the cake.

@@robinmadier7414 do these skis have metal edges or are they just wide version of cross country skis?
