    Hey everyone, I’m thinking it might be fun to do a live stream of exploring and making patches on the Zoia based on suggestions from the chat! I planning on April 15th at 7:30pm EST, what do you think?
    Also all my patches from this video and anything else I come up with will be available on the Empress patch storage site when it's available! Plus some of these might even come pre-loaded on ZOIAs

    Man, I absolutely love the idea surrounding the ZOIA, and I would literally buy it right this minute (and am seriously considering it regardless of the following) - but I just can't help feeling that it seems really under-powered considering its possibilities.
    For instance, I had the idea of a 3 pedal in 1 patch that essentially recreates something along the lines of a Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water or Cooper FX Generation Loss, then adding delay and reverb options - but now, Im not so sure there would be near enough cpu resources for a patch that elaborate.
    Maybe I should just pull the trigger anyways, I suppose I could always sell it with little financial loss.

      Its been cool - its a great device - though I havent been able to mess with it quite as much as Id like, but its definitely a rabbit hole. Between all the community patches and what Ive done myself, its just crazy how deep it can go and how many areas it touches. The updates have been nice and steady too, which is nice. I definitely wish it was a bit more powerful, as you're bound to hit the wall on some patches, but I find myself, and others, getting more creative in the pursuit of doing more with the Zoia while trying to avoid those walls.
      So yeah, its definitely a great bit of kit. Glad I dove in.

    When Empress first showed this off over a year ago, I wasn't that stoked. Undoubtedly it was a clever concept, but at the time I wasn't that invested. Since then though I've found myself more and more wanting a specific sound and finding that either it doesn't exist or it exists but in a $350 pedal with other less important features. That's fine if you have large income and a huge board, but most of us can only really afford one or two pedals per year and need to keep things compact. To be able to have a sequenced tremolo without owning a Goatkeeper, a weird lo-fi vibrato without owning a Warped Vinyl, a standard chorus pedal without owning a CE-2, an attack/decay function without owning a Slow Gear, a synth without owning a Synth9 or Enzo, it's fantastic. I can't see it replacing some of my analog pedals, but as a one-stop-shop for all the weird and wacky stuff, totally worth the $500. It could save a lot of money and board space.

    • @collectoremitter
      @collectoremitter  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! It gives you the ability to cover any of those needs to the extent you need them. I could imagine a board with a ZOIA, a MIDI controller for the ZOIA, a good distortion, and maybe an analog delay would cover 90% of most people’s needs pretty easily

      @@collectoremitter awesome to hear! I've been beta testing too but my patches are kinda basic still. Today's been a big help watching everyone's demos to wrap my head around things a bit more. Can't wait to see how the freeze delay one works!

    So cool..
    Those small MIDI ports, is that just a MIDI-to-3.5mm jack cable then? Or do you need an interface in between?

      It comes with short 1/8" to MIDI cables, so you just need your standard MIDI cables to interface.

      Yeah, it’s 1/8” to MIDI adapters and then you just need a MIDI cable beyond that

      @@stevebragg7914 From the man himself :D It's great that it comes included, and also an SD card right?
      Man, this thing is really something else.. I've been digging through the manual and module list for 2 full days now out of excitement!
      I wonder how long it'll take to get to the Netherlands...?

    • @collectoremitter

      It can! It has the MIDI specific ports that the adapters are for, but it also has the Cport which is assignable as MIDI (from something like the Midibox), expression, or cv

    Can I launch wav files stored in the SD Card?

      @collectoremitter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s one thing that’s not possible. There’s no sample playback module, probably because it would be a bit too CPU hungry, but they might end up adding one eventually

      dewberry30 thats one of the big firmware updates im excited about. It will take some time but i think we’ll get there. Then the ZOIA will be a full blown custom sampler/looper

    JUST SOLD MINE> quickest purchase flop of my gear career. I'm too guitar oriented for it, and was having too many MIDI issues , tech support said it was nice the owner was nice but too much tinker time for even a tinkerer. by by Zoia you were fun maybe in a Casio watch kinda way. xoxox

    The only interesting sound came from the Panda. Can't the Zoia emulate that sound?
