    Very impressive, i'm glad you kept most of the original parts. So far i've been only restoring post war reissue german helmets from czech or norwegians.

    Great video in my opinion. I've actually got me a relic M35 shell coming from Slovenia that is rusted but appears to be in very good condition to restore myself, hope I can find some numbers in it after I clean it well. Again thank you

    Very nice job. The Germans put a coat of clear laquer over the decals, that is why you see most of the decals still on original helmets.

    What for a acrylic burnt umber do you use ?
    Do you use wash only on the Top of the Helmet ?
    And how do you mix your wash ?

    • @WW-2ube
      @WW-2ube  หลายเดือนก่อน

      hello, regular acrylic paint for painting pictures in burnt umber color.
      The whole helmet is washed. But on top there are simply more layers to make shading and the effect of age and paint abrasion. soldiers often sat on helmets which caused excessive paint abrasion.
      take a cup or jar. squeeze some paint out of the tube. add a little water. mix thoroughly so that the paint dissolves in the water. if the color is too dark, add more water. it has to look like you painted with tea. I apply it with a brush and drain the excess with a kitchen paper towel. use a hair dryer so that the paint dries quickly. you can apply several layers to get the desired effect. if your paint is too light, you can add a little black to it.

    Where did you get the paint and the vanish?

    • @WW-2ube
      @WW-2ube  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Paint was mixed based on the original color What kind of vanish you mean? There is no vanish on this helmet :) to make it old, Iused brown wash technique with normal acrylic paint.

    Hello, right now I am repainting German m35 helmet, I sprayed snow camo on the helmet, do you have any tips, how can I age the liner and the helmet overall?

    • @WW-2ube
      @WW-2ube  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello :) You can age the liner with leather blacker or rust dust..You can use also WD40 to make it darker. Use g2000 sandpaper on the edges. I will make a video about liner and camo. Before applying the camo, you can use something greasy on the helmet in various places. When it dries, the paint will come off from the greasy places. There will be a chipped paint effect. Than you can try delicate black wash.

    My restored m16 helmet horns air vets arr shacky , how can i fix it with glue?

    • @WW-2ube
      @WW-2ube  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use glue a little bit inside, but in M16 horns are big. You schould use front part of hammer inside helmet, to hammer down air vents.

      @@WW-2ube Back side of the vent inside the shell, you sure can tell, not slightly flared, just straight... Unless you glop the paint on it there, you won't be able to hide it.
