Faa Mai loves Lek so much that she follows in her footsteps and helps the other elephants, just as Lek does.
The love that they show just chokes me up. Helping the new kid and making her feel welcome and safe. Beyond amazing.
we can learn "compassion" from such as these, we can learn "humility" from such as these, we can learn "forgiveness" from them, we can learn patience and on and on....they are not tainted by human "emotion." Got a feeling God is a lot happier with his animal kingdom than the one he had high hopes for.

I love how the dog just lays there unafraid of their big friends...so cute!
Those dogs have a sweet story too. There was a terrible flood and many, many dogs (and other pets) lost track of their their families and homes so this sanctuary took them all in.
Also the Ellie’s aren’t afraid of the dogs either!!
The dog senses and recognizes how harmless and friendly those gentle giants are
I wonder whether Faa Mai understands somehow that Ploy Thong is blind. She seemed to be guiding her with sound and touch. Thanks for this beautiful video and for all your magnificent work. ENP gives me hope.
I think so because there was another video of her helping a blind elephant (could have been Ploy Thong) back from an area where she was all by herself. She was stuck there and didn't know which way to go, and Faa Mai went and got her and led her back. Also, there is another blind elephant, Jokia, at ENP, and her best friend Mae Perm would guide her everywhere until she passed away.
I am also with the ear flapping as implying incredible intelligence way beyond what I would normally attribute to these wonderful creatures. 🐘🐘🐘

Before I clicked on this video (and just saw the title), I knew it was going to be Faa Mai leading the tour! She is the friendliest and most welcoming elephant at ENP! :-)
OH! HOW WONDERFUL! Ears flapping, holding trunks, purring noise. I never knew till I started watching these vids from Lek's rescue home how much better elephants are than typical people.
This Faa Mai is just an angel of elephants.

I had no idea elephants made that deep throaty sound....almost sound like a lion or tiger. they are undoubtedly sweet animals.....so deserving of your wonderful work.

FAA MAI is so amazing she knew immediately that she had a new family member. She accepts everyone with such an openness a god given gift to aid Lek in making ENP the most amazing place any of us have ever seen I have learned so much from Lek and her team about what it means to be human and a decent being. I wish I could aide in some way but at the moment it's a struggle to just get by. So I tell everyone I meet about lek and her lifes work. My dream is to one day meet Lek and kiss every elephant that will let me. God Bless all who do Gods work.

I absolutely love the fact that every time I see Faa mai her ears are flapping away. I know it's probably to keep cool but I like to think she's just happy too.
Elephant experts say rapid ear flapping is a way elephants show their happiness to see another elephant. I just read about it at the PAWS sanctuary in California. The Toronto zoo transferred a couple elephants there and they explained the vocalizations and gestures of the elephants meeting each other.

Teenagers used to spend all their time and money try to get their jalopies to sound that good :o)
Faa is so patient and sweet with Ploy. So caring and understanding and Ploy trusts Faa so much.

Cute with the floppy ears and nose love strokes and the sounds 😍😍! How can humans take so advantage and treat so kind and wise beings, so bad!?
I understand poverty and loyalty to family, can make good people treat animals as slaves, too hard, to survive. But some have no care, hit them, doesn't think of them as worthy feely beings.
So greatfull to see them have a rescued life of freedom and family. Thank you,wordly angels that helps, cares, do something and also those who donate money, so helpers can rescue and offer them better!
Also thank you to those who care and feel for them, even if can't help out just now. Hopefully it will get better with time and education to the next generation. Too slow, but justice for everyone helps animals too. Thousands of years, we haven't gotten very far, but hopefully with technology that reaches everyone, more people will care.. Hope so!
Holding trunks is like us holding hands. Two new friends being sweet and kind. An example for us.

What absolute beauty and compassion. It makes my heart swell. We could all learn a lesson from them about acceptance, inclusion, and support of each other. Wow. A seeing eye elephant 🐘. Ok so if I ever need a support animal, I’m getting an elephant. Might need to buy a few extra seats on the plane. Hell , I’ll just buy the whole row. And some extra bags of peanuts please.

Faa Mai is such a special elephant among the beautiful herd. She always seems to be the first to welcome newcomers. I wish I knew what they were saying to each other, but I'm sure Faa Mai would have soon realised Ploy Thong was blind and needed extra care

Faa Mai is so incredibly gentle and kind. The only reason I can think of that she is the way she is, it’s because she was born at the ENP, raised and loved by Lek, one of the most incredible women in the world.

As a person that believes that there is only one consciousness and that we all are contained within it... I feel the need to say Thank You for helping me when I struggle like this in my other forms.
They are so amazing in the compassion and understanding that they show one another. How in the world did Faa Mai know that Ploy Thing was blind? How did they agree to move about together, keeping Ploy Thong safe, but still getting a tour of the camp? This means that Faa Mai is a "seeing eye" elephant! And self trained, to boot! Astounding beings these elephants.
Noble, beautiful creatures. Hugging and petting an elephant is at the top of my bucket list. If nothing else.

It's not all that expensive. check it out at enp.com. A little planning and vacation saving, a yard sale or two and you are on your way. Just don't book your trip during the rainy season and buy LOTS of bug spray. You will have a great time.

Faa Mai is a great elephant and VERY SENSITIVE. THIS DEAR BLIND ELEPHANT NEEDS EXTRA-SPECIAL CARE. I PRAY THAT SHE IS ABLE TO HAVE A PERMANENT FRIEN AND FAMILY TO HELP HER AROUND. I was saddened to see her lose her friend and then while she was out after the fiend's death bump into a wall. God bless ploy Thong and NAVANN and his family who I understand is her new family network.
