Talking about Malaysian food is making us hungry!! We are currently in Vietnam and we are missing Malaysian food! Nasi kandar, hokkien mee, nasi lemak, curry mee!
Some people are just not adventurous enough when it comes to food, it's rooted in their personality. I knew a saudi guy who had studied in malaysia for his post graduate studies. We went to the same Islamic Centre and became acquainted. And we also bumped into each other a lot at a Yemeni arab restaurant whenever I went to eat Arabic food. One day I asked him why is he always there whenever I came to the restaurant. He said he only eats arab food and never once eaten malaysian food eventhough he has been in malaysia for over 3 years. Some people are just like that I guess.
I think I recall you telling me this story before! It’s true though. A lot of Japanese people are also not adventurous. I know plenty here who have never even tried Naan before and when I asked them why, they told me it’s Indian food and they might not like it. In my head, I’m thinking “it’s bread”.😅 I think what I found the most shocking in that man’s comments was that he hates Malaysia because he didn’t like the food.
Hahaha... For me its personal experience.. Poor him have bad experience.. Malaysian could accept any good or bad comment as long as honest.. 👍 Good content
Hai jean..🙋♂ Selamat petang..😁 Semua makanan didunia sedap.. Tetapi apabila kita merasa makanan tu.. Bukan makanan tu tak sedap..tapi tak kena dengan tekak kita..😅tak kena dengan selera kita.. Bila rasa tak sedap..tekak kita yang rasa tak sedap... Bukan makanan tu.. bagi org2 dah biasa makan makanan tu..memang lah rasa sedap..hihihi ( jadi tak perlu cakap makanan tu tak sedap ) ( ibarat kita menghina makanan tu ) ( ibarat menghina rezeki yang tuhan bagi ) Macam saya mula2 makan takoyaki..bukan tak sedap..tapi x biasa makan.. Dah lama2 baru terbiasa.. Dan saya mula menyukai takoyaki..😋
Orang2 yang mencuba makanan malaysia.. Mereka patut cakap ' tak biasa makan makanan malaysia..tak kena dengan tekak ' Tak patut mereka cakap ' tak sedap ' Lidah manusia sama.. Deria rasa berbeza..
Lagi satu makanan tak sedap..berpunca dari masakan.. Masakan orang berbeza beza.. Tak sama rasa.. Contoh kuih muih.. Kuih tu sedap..tapi orang buat kuih tu mungkin x cukup bahan.. Pastu rasa kuih tu tak sedap..padahal kuih tu sedap je..kalau tempat2 lain..hihihi Sebab tu lah makanan didunia ni sedap..
Yea, I'm surprised too but coming from a very young person so it's typical for young ones to stereotype everything. But we as Malaysians, since our country is known as food haven, we got to enhance or upgrade our food industry as well. I hope our government will help all the food vendors/establishments in keeping our hygiene up to the par as well. Maybe gather all the ideas from all food vendors/establishments on how they can be more quick and more hygienic by giving the government the kind of machinery for cater/serve their foods. Government can either help produce those machinery for catering either by : - creating our first Malaysian Factory catered specially for Malaysian Food Industry - or outsource it to the private sector which specialized on manufacturing catering machinery via open tender. It's not just that Japanese boy who experienced bad food services, but we Malaysian are also subject to the same problem. I mean, go check the TH-cam videos and look at how developed those Japanese and Koreans are with their food industry. Just type either Japan or S.Korean producing BENTO BOX or foods for their school children and we will witness how far behind is our food industry. Also look at how their food vendors/street hawker present their foods. I mean, we can be even better than them because Malaysia Boleh. Just need to focus on this issue and please, just focus on this please 🥺 We are developing cosmetically but don't just go for cosmetic only, our hygiene and our mentality have got to change first. Create a program or a competition of some sort, about hygiene by rewarding special medals to be worn when standing in respect to our Negaraku song. THOSE WITHOUT THAT MEDAL, WILL BE CONSIDERED AS A CRIMINAL should they choose to stand when our National Anthem is being played. MANDATORY PUNISHMENT IS JAIL TIME!!! We have given enough time to pamper our hypocrisy because standing without the special medal when listening to our Negaraku and ironically right after that, we throw our garbage indiscrisminately, and we drive our vehicles like mad men. Also our hypocrisy drove us to always demand more but give very little in return, and so on. It's time for us to stop being hypocrites who are too selfish to learn and progress to be the best civilized nation in the world. Let our multimedia department/government control all the camera that were installed all around our country to monitor those who are willing to pick up any garbage on our streets and reward them the medal. Make it viral on TikTok and TH-cam or all the social media so that everyone can use their smartphones or cameras to capture all those street hawkers/food vendors (especially our beloved Mamak restaurants) : - serving their food, - how they maintain their toilets, - the cleanliness of their kitchen and, - how they prepare their foods. Those who send the videos to our government must also make the videos viral on all social media platform. And our government must reward them the medal! Those food vendors/street hawker who are EXCELLENT in their hygiene will also be rewarded with the medal. But those who are not, will face severe punishment! These are a few ways to help us Malaysians in changing our bad habits and eliminating our destructive mentality, and become a very productive society who are more willing to give/sacrifice rather than demand. I know, nobody would want to read my super long comment but if you have reached this end, please help raise awareness on our bad habits and destructive mentality by sharing this idea. Create your own post by Vlogging or write the same message on all platforms of your social media, up until either our government or, we as citizens can help our food industry to be known by the whole wide world as the tastier and the most hygienic one. If some of us got a factory to produce or manufacture utensils or catering machinery that specialized in helping our national foods to be served quicker and more hygienic, let us Malaysians know about it so that we can donate or contribute our part as a nation by using the internet platform. And subsequently the manufacturer can inform the government and viralling it on social media on the journey of how these vendors or hawkers are assisted - provided everything is given for free. Consequently, the government will in turn reward those who have contributed the capital to realise this, and also the manufacturers who have played their part. This is how we should play our PATRIOTIC PART in not just saving our country but making our country well-known to the world 😊
Wow I really enjoyed reading this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. You write so well and your points are all excellent. Not sure about the medal points system but I definitely agree that we can do better in terms of hygiene, starting from the young ones by changing their mindset regarding cleanliness. If one day I’m able to help to this cause, I’d feel extremely privileged. First step, grow the channel.❤️
We may try to avoid sensitive issues but almost many Malaysians also dont like some places.. besides halal issues, its better to choose better places with proper take care of everythings. Even its may affect healthy and life.. since Malaysia got many places and varieties, just choose the best.
@@jeaninjapan463 Hope you enjoyed it there. There is a lot of cool things to explore that will captivate your heart & transform how you look at life around you. ❤️❤️❤️
I lived behind a famous row of food stalls in JB (Taman Sentosa). You are right Jane. They only use gallon water to clean the utensils and plates but the main menu the stall owner bring cooked food from home. No case of diarrhoea.
Same here. I rarely get diarrhea in Malaysia even though I eat at food stalls or hawker centers. So I’m not worried at all but I think toilets in some places like hawker center, food court and nasi kandar shops need to improve for cleanliness.
@@jeaninjapan463 Myself sometimes complain about lack of cleanliness to the cashier when I make payment and if doesn't improve will also complain to local authority (via whatsapp / facebook).
Is all about education and bringing up.... Of course Japan toilet is most hygienic.... So you cannot blame those who are not adventurous with street food which is affordable too.... Their mindset is classy expensive food outlets
Their public toilets are really one of the cleanest in the world so I think anywhere else would fail in comparison. You’re totally right. Non-adventurous people tend to stay in their comfort zones and are hard to accept any new tastes.
A friend of mine worked in a hotel in Japan before. She said some Japanese do not wash themselves when they wake up in the morning, so they stink and are smelly. Sorry to say this. Don't mean to offend anyone.
@@kimmie5861 Haha I’m not sure about everyone but I think generally Japanese people are the same as French people. They don’t shower in the mornings. They only take baths at night time.

Thank you for commenting on this video. I was just so shocked to hear such negative comments on Malaysia and wanted to share our opinions. Sad but true, Thai and Singaporean food are quite well-known here but only a few knows about Malaysian cuisine.
Just watch the Gordon Ramsay videos when he went to Malaysia. More eye opening. Don’t let your bad experiences tell you everything about Malaysia. We must avoid judging things at all times. ❤
When we travel, it’s quite normal to experience both bad and good things. We just need to decide for ourselves how we want to view the overall experience. Was it bad enough to justify hating somewhere or were you able to find some beauty in the country that makes it a good experience?☺️🌷🌷🌷
Tako- octopus Yaki- to grill (bakar) Nashi- without (tanpa) So you need to order “Tako Nashi Takoyaki”. Grilled octopus without octopus. I always do that with ais kacang last time when I was younger because I don’t enjoy eating too much red beans so I always say “ais kacang tak mau kacang”.😂
When I was back in MY in summer, my friends and I were discussing about this topic. A lot of them said the same thing. I do hope we can improve since it’s really basic hygiene. The toilets at Penang Airport are still not as clean as Changi, Haneda, Narita. The nasi kandar shops do have really disgusting toilets. I wish it could be better…
Mereka dah cukup lama kenal orang bisnes jadi tahu sangat hal kebersihan. Sudahnya kalau tanya mana tempat makan bagus kat Ipoh, saya pun tak tahu.. kedai nasi kandar ganjar pun pergi dengan kawan dari KL... 😅
Haha sama dengan mak saya apabila Ayane kecil. Jangan bawa ke tempat makan kat luar.😅 Macam mana lah nak meningkatkan tahap kebersihan kedai2 makan ni…😫
Ya kebanyakannya nampak kuning atau coklat sebab kari etc. Kita dah biasa tengok jadi tak rasa apa pun.
Saya ingat orang Jepun tak tengok channel tu…
Yes, you're right by saying that the Malaysian government is slacking in areas of promoting and staking claim on foods that are truly Malaysian dishes. There needs to be more awareness on the topic and more should be done about it. Thanks for sharing your views and thoughts on Malaysian foods though. Like I always say, as long as you do your homework before coming to Malaysia, you'll definitely find that Malaysia is a foodies haven!😊
Yes you’re absolutely right! If you do a bit of research, you’ll be able to find great food. Nowadays there are many TH-camrs introducing amazing Malaysian foods so it’s really very easy to know where the locals eat at.☺️
Don't be surprised. I live in Ipoh, malaysia. Many years ago I went to a school canteen, I was about to order from the food stall when I saw a cockcroach crawling on the food counter. I left that food stall, never want to go there anymore.
He loves to eat Belacan fried chicken and sometimes I make belacan fried rice. He’s OK with belacan actually. But we haven’t tried belacan onigiri yet 😂
I don't prefer too much gravy like in Nasi Kandar so I choose one instead of three. The rest is history, yummy! Because a kebab restaurant was closed so I got to taste the chicken curry in Kobe. It is sweet compare to spicy in Malaysia. Friends say the curry is simillar to Europe curry. That was delicious too.
Ohhh no kuah banjir. I’m kuah banjir gang.🤭 Japanese curries are actually very yummy but don’t expect the taste of our curry. It’s a totally different food. I hope one day I can make a video on how to make Japanese curry at home.☺️
@@jeaninjapan463 Please do Jean. I also want to know how Japanese curry is made, curious on what curry paste they used and fat (milk/santan) they added. If iChang & Jimmy could do Sambal Ikan Bilis and Tepung Pelita, we Malaysian can also prepare Japanese dishes too...hehe. I'm waiting for your cooking video Jean.
@@hekarluzir7955 yes for sure we can. I’ve already learned from Japanese ladies here how to make Japanese curry. I’ll try my best to make the video soon!💪💪💪☺️
Sometime Some people have a hard time adjusting their tongue to another country's food. (Lidah tak biasa) it's hard to say "we're offended or not" because some People experience differ so much. I also have quite sensitive stomach, and also not very adventurous to taste food that is new to me... For example, when I was young, I don't like belacan and avoid eating it, but when I got older, I don't avoid it. Korean food like kimchi is also popular for those who like Korean culture but I still am not eager to savour it. 😅 Their answer about SEA country are also not that shocking considering that Japan as a whole are quite hygienic, so them being fussy about what they consider good is quite expected? 😳
It’s true and we’re not mad at him but actually rather feel sorry for him. He took a flight for 7 hours to arrive in Malaysia and had such a bad experience. Poor guy. Although I would never be able to say I hate a country just because of a bad meal. Sounds like such a small reason to justify hating a whole nation.😅
Actually from such street interviews, most Japanese want to visit US (Hawaii mostly), Paris. Places that I personally think are not that great in cleanliness. I think their likes are influenced by the media. As for Malaysia, I have to say that while nasi kandar shops still have long ways to go in terms of cleanliness of washrooms, malls are doing a great job. I also noticed that the small alleys in Penang are so much cleaner than last time so I guess Malaysia is improving!☺️
It's the same with Europeans, most think that developing countries are not clean and lacking in good hygiene. And that applies to ethnic restaurants, cafes, take aways eg in UK, although that is slowly changing, as the public health officials have become more stringent. I've to say many of those hawker stalls, etc in Malaysia that I've seen on TH-cam would not be given license to trade. There are no hawker stalls in the UK! But there is no denying that Malaysian food (of all ethnic variety) is one of the best on the planet!
Betul tu. Kebersihan tandas memang perlu diutamakan.
Same here no hawker stalls in Japan. I guess it’s the image of developing countries and of course there is truth to it. I really hope that Malaysia can improve in terms of cleanliness of toilets and public spaces.
@@jeaninjapan463 As I understand it, Singapore moved all the hawker stalls indoor precisely for that reason. Personally, I don't mind outdoor hawker stalls, so long as the public health authorities are stringent in their checks to ensure that all stall owners adhere to a strict set of proper hygiene practices. It's doable and also, hawker stalls have their appeal, and they're affordable.
I too feel bad for him having that kind of experience. It may be understandable since he is young, but I just wish he could learn more about our culture, including food, way of living, etc. In my experience, I always have a good research even if it's a little when I visit a foreign place, especially when I visit a state in Malaysia. I hope that guy visit Malaysia again and give a second chance to our food soon 😊
Yes I think it’s because he is inexperienced. I hope he learns to see the beauty in every country. Even if sometimes the food doesn’t agree with him but he could probably still find beauty in the scenery, the people, the culture, if he wants to. Hope he gives Malaysia a second chance one day.☺️🌷
Betul. Saya jenis tak kisah hehe tetapi ibu saya selalu tegur. Kedai tu kotor jangan makan kat situ. Tetapi kalau kedai nasi kandar atau tempat hawker food, saya tak akan gunakan tandas mereka. Memang tak boleh.😫
seeing jean says that sambal is so good, that japanese making it hybrid food with udon, nabe, and says that sambal is good,i wouldnt even believe it..but now if i didnt watch the recent ichang videos when they are last day in hong kong making the sambal seeing how their friend mixing it with rice, wrap it seaweed,im like,whoa... never expected that sambal is muchly evolved & appreciated the taste after going oversea.. seeing that kaz reaction on 6:00 just pure reaction from a japanese flashback those moment...
It is good. Japanese food is very delicious but because I’m a Malaysian, I do miss the taste of spices so sambal is a must have for me here! It tastes very good with nabe (Japanese steamboat). Haha I’m going to try IChang’s friend’s idea of eating belacan rice ball! ☺️🌷🌷🌷

Guess majority of Japanese are not suited going/doing bag packing traveling. There are so many 5 stars resorts in SEA, go there if you got the bucks, don't come with a small budget and expect luxury ✌️
We usually see them in summer and not the cooler months. And they have other huge insects here like cicadas or they call it “semi” in Japanese. Cockroaches in Japan are also pretty big but luckily we don’t see them inside our house.(touch wood!)
I like your view on it. Very positive!☺️ It’s an area for improvement and hopefully the standard of cleanliness and hygiene in Malaysia will continue to improve.
Not just Japan but every other countries beside us Malaysia, give only ketchup (not kicap) or tomato sauce. Chili sauce are only given to us Malaysian because we don't know how to enjoy the original recipe of burger which supposed to come with acidity or sour taste as the main flavor. But ofc, our fast food chains, they're all Halal Certified and that's opens up the idea to alter the recipe 😊
@@pendambahidayah4712 I can say that us Malaysian our taste must at least something related to chilli 😂 cos when I'm in Japan it's nice food but doesn't satisfied my taste cos there was rarely a spice taste Well only thing was spicy was wasabi but it's only few secs 😅

Agree with you. Hygiene is very important even for locals. I feel that we can do better in Malaysia especially for toilets. Toilets at shopping malls are clean and nice but there is still room for improvement at eateries, coffee shops, kedai mamak. I am also surprised he said our food is bad. There are so many varieties available. I doubt he tried everything. I think he just tried a few and decided it was not for him. That’s ok too but janganlah sampai hate.😫

I never said that all Malaysian food stalls are clean. As I said offended at first because it’s quite extreme to hate a whole nation due to a bad meal or two. I think it’s quite an acceptable first honest reaction for a person who loves their country. But also it’s his opinion and I totally respect it. Mostly I just feel bad for him and wish he could have had some positives from his visit to Malaysia. You’re so unlucky. I’ve never found insects in my food before (touch wood!) but definitely I know it happens. Agree with toilets for sure. Coffee shop toilets in Malaysia are quite bad. But most interestingly is my husband and I have both had horrible food poisoning here in Japan that required us to visit the hospital but never have we had such experience in Malaysia so far.
Hate is a strong word. I choose peace ☺️🌷🌷🌷
Maaf cakap, saya tak pelik kalau ada org luar negeri yg berfikiran negatif ttg negara kita, sbb mereka ni sebahagiannya mcm katak dlm tempurung, kita ni dari kecil (sekolah rendah) dah tau Jepun tu negara mcm mana dan di mana, tak mcm dia org, dah besar pun ada lagi yg terpinga-pinga bila sebut Malaysia (contoh). Apa yg mereka belajar kat sekolah, saya pun tak tau

Jepun pula homogeneous society jadi kalau nak beli makanan halal pun susah..

@@jeaninjapan463 Malaysian food will always be Number 1!
Poor guy. I feel bad for him. Travelled so far from Japan only to end up with food he didn’t like.😅
Hai jean..🙋♂
Selamat petang..😁
Semua makanan didunia sedap..
Tetapi apabila kita merasa makanan tu..
Bukan makanan tu tak sedap..tapi tak kena dengan tekak kita..😅tak kena dengan selera kita..
Bila rasa tak sedap..tekak kita yang rasa tak sedap...
Bukan makanan tu..
bagi org2 dah biasa makan makanan tu..memang lah rasa sedap..hihihi
( jadi tak perlu cakap makanan tu tak sedap )
( ibarat kita menghina makanan tu )
( ibarat menghina rezeki yang tuhan bagi )
Macam saya mula2 makan takoyaki..bukan tak sedap..tapi x biasa makan..
Dah lama2 baru terbiasa..
Dan saya mula menyukai takoyaki..😋
Orang2 yang mencuba makanan malaysia..
Mereka patut cakap ' tak biasa makan makanan malaysia..tak kena dengan tekak '
Tak patut mereka cakap ' tak sedap '
Lidah manusia sama..
Deria rasa berbeza..
Lagi satu makanan tak sedap..berpunca dari masakan..
Masakan orang berbeza beza..
Tak sama rasa..
Contoh kuih muih..
Kuih tu sedap..tapi orang buat kuih tu mungkin x cukup bahan..
Hygiene depends highly on personality of the person handling the food.... definitely we need hygienic person to cook and handle the food....
It’s very true which is why both of us get food poisoning quite often in Japan when we eat out or buy convenience store food.
@@jeaninjapan463 didn't know food poisoning is quite common in Japan.
Government can either help produce those machinery for catering either by :
- creating our first Malaysian Factory catered specially for Malaysian Food Industry
- or outsource it to the private sector which specialized on manufacturing catering machinery via open tender.
Just need to focus on this issue and please, just focus on this please 🥺
We are developing cosmetically but don't just go for cosmetic only, our hygiene and our mentality have got to change first.
Make it viral on TikTok and TH-cam or all the social media so that everyone can use their smartphones or cameras to capture all those street hawkers/food vendors (especially our beloved Mamak restaurants) :
- serving their food,
- how they maintain their toilets,
- the cleanliness of their kitchen and,
- how they prepare their foods.
We’re lucky to have many options in Malaysia. As for cleanliness, if we can improve then of course that’s good for the country too.☺️

I dilligently ask for takoyaki that don't use squid, octopus in Japan and Malaysia. When I found one is Sarawak and in Johor; I enjoy it!
Tako- octopus
Yaki- to grill (bakar)
Nashi- without (tanpa)
So you need to order “Tako Nashi Takoyaki”. Grilled octopus without octopus.
I always do that with ais kacang last time when I was younger because I don’t enjoy eating too much red beans so I always say “ais kacang tak mau kacang”.😂
@Jean in Japan my friend in Sarawak who lived in Japan sell to me the tako nashi
I'm Malaysian agreed most of toilets both public and in restaurants have a lot of catching up even with our neighbour Thailand.

Tak pe lah henry, biar mereka komen. Bukan semua orang jepun begitu.
Yes, you're right by saying that the Malaysian government is slacking in areas of promoting and staking claim on foods that are truly Malaysian dishes. Korean food like kimchi is also popular for those who like Korean culture but I still am not eager to savour it. 😅 Their answer about SEA country are also not that shocking considering that Japan as a whole are quite hygienic, so them being fussy about what they consider good is quite expected? 😳

South Asia tu negara Asia Selatan macam India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal. 😅
Kita Malaysia di Southeast Asia (Asia Tenggara) bukan South Asia. 😂
Oh minta maaf. Bahasa Melayu dah lama tak guna jadi sari kata Bahasa Melayu dah tersilap. Asia Tenggara. Tetapi dalam Bahasa Inggeris tak silap ya. Southeast Asia.
Dalam video Soichiro from Japan pula, dia dah tersilap sarikata Bahasa Inggeris. Dia tulis South Asian tetapi wanita Jepun itu berkata “Tounan Ajia” yg bermaksud Asia Tenggara. “Minami Ajia” pula bermaksud South Asia.
he just unlucky...
True. It happens sometimes during traveling. We just need to let go of bad experience and try to enjoy the rest of the trip.☺️🌷
Maybe he has bad experiance some where in Malaysia....but that doesnt means all the place is dirty. So be patient, calm down try to be more hygenic in every aspect of preparing the food. If it happen to me....i will not go to that place to eat.....but i dont viral it on internet.
Yea agree with you. Also I would never hate one country due to the reason of not liking their food. We respect his opinion but also we wanted to share our opinions.☺️🌷
why offended? its normal. U think all Msia food stall clean? No. many stall & shop are dirty, esp toilet.I having fly inside my white coffee this year Jan 2023 at famous coffee shop named Fei inside wisma cosway & soya bean juice at setapak jaya soya hawker many yrs ago. 😂😂😂
I told coffee shop and she question for photo and i said its on the floor. and she never say sorry and apology
Super clean.❤
Dah cara hidup org jepon hygiene, jadi bila x sama dgn tmpt mereka..smua nye jadi kotor🙄
I must admit sg is cleaner
True. Malaysia definitely has room for improvement in terms of cleanliness at public spaces.

Jepun pula homogeneous society jadi kalau nak beli makanan halal pun susah..
I HATE THIS VLOG HATE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tbh When you go certain Country dont expect it to be the same as yours! Regardless where you go... If he doesnt know what things in Malaysia.. Just Google.. n why u want to come here at first place..
