    New Orleans IS in the south, BUT the accents (and speech patterns) are DIFFERENT from ANY OTHER city and States that are southern. You have to make a distinction between New Orleans and other southern cities of the south because of mannerisms and dialect (and even other parts of Louisiana).

    • @sthomas8344
      @sthomas8344 7 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      YES!! You took the words right out of my mouth. Shreveport, LA is so damn "country"! I've been here 11 years (moved here after Katrina) and I feel like I've been trying to explain this since I been here. Shreveport is only 5 hours away from New Orleans and its like they're two completely different states! New Orleans is so unique and special man. 😩😍 I can't wait to move back!

    • @nola305
      @nola305 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      EXACTLY!

    • @jermen5137
      @jermen5137 7 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Maybe most of the south but It's very similar to Geechee dialect in South Carolina which I think is probably a stonger and harder for folks to understand.

    • @loveunconventionally6043
      @loveunconventionally6043 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Right Cha as a Geechee I'll have to disagree. The accents of Charleston county and where I live in Georgetown SC are indeed very similar to that NO accent. The coastal accents are more Geechee than the southern country twang of the inland counties

    • @nola305
      @nola305 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I don't know WHAT people you've been hearing but, New Orleans has a DISTINCT dialect and accent. You need to LIVE in New Orleans for a few years and 'mingle' with (Black) people who aren't (and weren't) influenced by living elsewhere and came back to the city (N.O.), or anyone who speaks "properly" and omit New Orleans' slang!

    ..... until they realize he's a Juliard man and constructs houses in his free time. 🤯💯🔝
    maybe he felt that his Juliard tryouts was a disaster, but if the head of the school wants to hear you speak at least 12x, it means they're seeing a gem and they're inspecting it closely in real time. they wanted to see if Mackie is the real deal or if he's just faking it.
    and now he's Captain America 🇺🇸🦅. looks like Juliard nailed it again 💯👏👏👏

    I never heard a New Orleans accent with him in interviews including this one. There's some people that undoubtedly have it. I did always like his voice though.

    The same with Texas. People in Central Texas and South West Texas have a stronger Texas accent than the people do In North and East Texas.
