This is so nostalgic...clannad was one of my first anime and one of the...no, actually the very best anime i ever watched, i cried like a little girl and i still cry when i hear this song, i just can'T stop, it's so sad yet so beatifull...:)
i have only just finished watching this series, i watched the dub that has been sitting on my harddrive for 2 years now, i decided to watch something that i already had but never watched instead of going for something new - that i would have to acquire - this is by far the best anime that i have ever seen, i have never cried on such a scale before i love this series and i plan to rewatch it once my university work is done. it made me laugh and it made me cry, and now i want to do the best in my life, work hard and follow in Tomoya's footsteps i might not have anyone right now, but im sure she will at the foot of hill for me somewhere out there, i just have to say something and not let the chance pass me by. I hope that everyone out there who has watched this fantastic series can take something from it, its just too beautiful not too. :)
watch plastic memories, you'll certainly cry on that one too. that, clannad, and shigatsu wa kimi no uso have to be my favorite anime for the drama and sadness aspect, yet still being happy.
Amazing. I love it. Nagisa's song did represent sadness and happiness. To be honest though it makes me think of happier things when I listen to it. The only sad thing that comes to mind is Nagisa's death but knowing that in the end she was alive was enough to be happy again. I love this show :D. Also it makes you think of all the good things she did in the show.
I watched this anime years ago and I have yet to find an anime that has the same impact as clannad did (and still does). Every time i finish this series, my heart feels heavy for days and I feel so attached to the characters that I want to rewatch the series instantly. Personally, I've put Clannad on a pedestal and every anime that I watch instantly after Clannad falls flat. Even the ones I really love and have watched multiple times.
Clannad...God, Clannad. What an experience this was. And to think that I only watched it because of a dumb what anime to watch quiz I took because I was bored and going through issues that made me want to be away from my family. I will never forget all those times I cried watching it. I didn't think it was possible to be attached to characters as much as Clannad got me. I've watched other sad anime shows and movies like 5cm per second and Angel Beats and others and even though they really were sad, because of my specific timing to watch the anime and emotions I was feeling when I did makes Clannad the one and only anime that brings we to tears and gives me that fuzzy good feeling inside of me. I owe a huge thanks to Key for creating Clannad.
I am now going on a journey to find the two people who disliked this and force them to watch After Story and laugh at them whilst they cry before I inevitably break down and cry with them :'(
I would agree with you, except this song plays when Nagisa dies and it shows Tomoya's memories of her. This song makes it one of the top 3 most heart-rending scenes in the series.
only clannad's soundtracks has made me cry whenever i listen to this soundtrack i always end up shedding tears even without seeing any scene just by listening to the music alone

This anime screams at you that you must remain human. After i watched this painful thing i traveled to my little sister who lives 150 km away from me and at the train station i hugged her and cried, and she said that i was silly.,
if you are looking for the same "type" of heart string pulling anime genre i strongly recommend watching either kanon 2006 or Air. they are all three sort of a triad with different plots and characters
It was really awesome >:) I knew nagisa would come back somehow. I just had that little feeling like "She has to come back. He can't just lose everything after a few weeks or months of finally acting more like a dad to her daughter." TT^TT made me so happy
for the one person who disliked this...you don't know the family of Nagisa or her back story. go look up clannad and then come back and tell me you can sit at you computer and tell the world you did not cry or like it. we all did. its sad and when she died i felt like someone i loved was died in front of me and it pulled my heart strings. it pulled all our heart strings. :,(

And I had to move schools... I wanted to see him so badly, I kept calling him... And then he told me he didn't want to see me anymore... Yes, this song has a happier tune to it overall, but if you truly paid attention to the story, you'd know Nagisa was going to die at some point within the first episode alone.Anyone who began to like Nagisa after that point should have expected what happens, yet it still broke so many people. a friend of mine watched the series pretty much side by side, and i said right off that she would die. he didn't believe me at all
Clannad just messing all of us up when Nagisa and Ushio started dying off and then after all of that trauma, they have a normal family life together! How messed up!
