Clannad really did something to me. After I finished watching the Anime, I wanted to play the song Dango Daikazoku on my guitar. When my little sister was born two years ago, I held her in my arms alot and sang the song too. Now, she's two years old and every time I see her, she's like: "sis! Dango!" Then I grab my guitar and play it for her and I watch her trying to sing to it. It always brings tears in my eyes. So beautiful to see.. I'll never forget Clannad.

The scene where Tomoya remembers Nagisa on the train ride with Ushio and this song plays makes me cry every time. I love Clannad & Clannad After Story ~

i mean it literaly has an "AFTER STORY" arc... so yeah. imo though, it's pretty damn good for breaking the norms of anime storytelling in a *slice of life/romance* anime.
飄宏林 35 here and the first time I saw it had a kid about Ushio's age. It hits a *lot* stronger if you have a child of your own. Trying to get to that field of flowers in winter was the worst, and best all at once.
I watched this when I was about 15/16. I've always been rather closed off, dont usually care if I'm around people or not. But this anime broke me, it was the first time I ever really felt alone, 10 years later and it still does that to me. It's amazing that fiction can do that to a person. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to find someone I can share such a deep bond with.
It's not the fiction that does it to a person. Stories are archetypes. They boil down truths to a simpler form so that we can learn about ourselves and the world around us. Clannad is a fiction, but it's a fiction built on a foundation of reality: that no man is an island, and that ultimately, we find our peace and our joy in being there for other people. It isn't the fiction that breaks you. It's the truths that you're learning from it.
If Ushio didn't look like Nagisa, this anime wouldn't be nearly as sad but fuckk imagine how heartbreaking it would be for Tomoya everytime he looked at his daughter he'd be reminded of Nagisa
And then after Tomoya accepted everything, Ushio dies. Like bro, what the fuck why can't Tomoya be happy goddammit!? Happily, everything ends amazing and great for our main characters, but still I ask myself ever since I watched the scene of Ushio dying, How much pain can someone bear with?
@@Vigilante-k4q Tomoya didnt die bro. Since the very beginning it's stated that the Town they're living has a myth, where people's happiness was reunited as orbs (or something like that but you surely know since You also watched the series lol). What happened was that Ushio restarted everything to give his dad a much better life and let him be happy once for all. It's all in the conversation between the robot and the little girl on the last episode, at first I didnt pay much attention to the whole thing but watchin it again I fully understood what was happening (at least You know that the robot was Tomoya in the other world and Ushio was the little girl, right?) If You didnt, again, watch and pay attention to the whole conversation between the robot and the girl on the last episode. Tomoya did lots of good things during the series, he was a fine man, so he (without knowing it) was reuniting tons of those orbs from the town's myth (and it is confirmed when he reconciliates with his dad and as he's going, Ushio notices the orbs in the sky). Ushio was kind of like the one in charge of makin people happy by doing good actions (which where represented as orbs), so Tomoya reuniting all of these orbs let him have another chance where he can be happy. Thats also why there were a bunch of orbs when they looked at the window.
"Anpan! Do you like this school? I really, really, like this school. But nothing can stay unchanged. Fun things...Happy things...they can't all possibly remain the same. Even so, can you keep on loving this place?" "Just find them" And so everything begins.
A truly holy song. I cannot revisit this series but once every few years. Its cut is so deep and personal that it truly affects my life for weeks after watching it all again.
I honest to god don't know why a lot of people in the anime community hate Clannad so much. Sure, the first season wasn't great and is pretty slow-paced, but the second season makes up for all that with amazing drama, a unique story, takes a turn in the usual anime tropes by actually have the two main characters *get married* and have a *child* together. Where else have you seen that in an anime? That's right, barely anywhere, and the only other anime I can recall doing that is Itazura na Kiss. The music is fantastic, the art and animation is beautiful considering the year it was released in, sure the character designs are almost identical to Kanon (yes, Nagisa is pretty much a carbon copy of Shiori), but their personalities are all unique and Tomoya, despite being pretty bland at first, is quite a comical character in the first season and in the second season he proves to be a loving father and a caring husband and an overall enjoyable character. Nagisa? Eh, well, like I said, she's pretty much Shiori from Kanon. Strange illness from childhood, misses school because of said illness, same character design but Shiroi has blue eyes and Nagisa has brown... But Kanon and Clannad are both from Key visual novels, so it's forgivable for the most part. Shiori was probably an inspiration for Nagisa's character. So yeah, fuck the Clannad haters, I'll always remember Clannad as one of the most tragic, emotional and romantic anime in history. Remember guys, you don't need to see the main characters kiss to know they're in love. (They had sex offscreen anyway, how else would Ushio come into the world? XD)
+Tomori Actually, I think the decision to not show as much physical affection was great. Because whenever it happened was so so special. Everytime they went a bit further I felt it. I felt it as close as it is to the real thing and that's the point I think. Also, not showing them "getting it on" was also a great idea in my opinion because the child was even more of a surprise.
Clannad is still the only anime that has literally made me seriously think about life and relationships... I cried during the anime, after the anime and I even had dreams that were influenced by Clannad that made me tear up when I wake up... Fuck sakes Clannad, how can AN ANIME be so fucking depressing and sad... I don't get it... why... #iCryEverytym
***** Hahaha, if anyone watches Clannad and doesn't cry, they'd truely be heartless. Also the chances of you being here hahah, I have a few of the songs you upload on my playlists
Retz I didn't cry, because my life is just so fucked up that I'm not affected emotionally, but some parts hit me HARD and made me rethink my life and future decisions. I am usually the tough minded leader who really doesn't back down from anything. Clannad took that and just burned it.
Retz When I finished season one I didn't really get why people were so amazed by it. tbh I didn't care much for the first season. I cried once at the end of the Fuko arc, but the rest was so-so for me. The beginning of After Story was ok but, same as season 1; I felt like some of the plots were more or less pointless. But then Tomoya gradueted and interesting things started to happen and I suddenly got so invested in everything. From episode 12 I found everything so amazing and then episode 16; I cried so fucking much. From episode 16 and on I cried at every single episode, both happy tears and sad tears. At the final episode where Nagisa is back I was sobbing despite not having anymore tears. I can't deny that I never cared much for the part where they were in highschool, but when Tomoya graduates and on - midway through After Story - THAT is the best god damn anime I have ever seen! :)
Clannad, the only anime that has ever made me shed a tear. I love this anime and I hope to re watch it again sometime again and re experience the journey :)
me too! its such a touching anime that makes you really think about the world around you. it truly is amazing and sends a message the whole world should listen to.
Max Lanik I have! The series is very emotional at some points in the series, but personally, I find Clannad the most emotional because rather than just sticking into school life (like most animes), the world and life of these characters expand because they graduate highschool and become a member of society. And that's how you become so connected with these characters when you delve into their lives! To me it's like being part of a family :D (wow I should write an essay..)
i played the visual novel and when nagisa first appears and the song played i was speech less, the song touched me instantly and i stared to tear up, and i can stop tearing up every time i hear it
Clannad as typical as it may sound changed my life Around 2 years ago I was an 8th grader who was a foriegn student in the Philippines, I am full Filipino but I was born and raised in America. My classmates treated me like I was an american though and tried to take advantage of me. Years later I completed clannad and now I've actually adjusted more to the culture and have made more friends, thank you clannad for everything
Listening in 2024. first played the visual novel 20 years ago and this theme still hurts me like hell while also providing some comfort. Clannad literally impacted how I see the world and the relationships within it.
i haven't listen this song in a while and now when i'm listening it i can feel my blood circulating in my veins i dunno why i should be crying now but it had a happy ending but i'm not crying this is not normal i need to go to the hospital right now
I believe that a lot of guys want to have a family one day and to further that a lot of us guys have a dream of having a little girl, a little daddys girl who reminds them so much of mommy. I think thats where i keep getting hit when i think back to this show. If i ever lost the love of my life and my little girl then i dont know what i could possibly do.
This might be one of the most beautiful songs ever created for a soundtrack. Not only does it somehow capture Nagisa perfectly, just listening to the first few notes is enough to make the emotions that you felt come flooding back in an instant. It's enough to overwhelm someone if they're not prepared for it. Never before have I listened to a song that makes me feel so many different things at once. This song is truly great.
“Let’s see...well, she was a bit of a crybaby. But she worked really hard and did her best to bring me here. I also know that daddy loved her very much”
Clannad is the first anime to completely break my heart and then lift it. What a beautiful gem. I've got the Japanese version in my collection. No English dub for me.
+dtrix10kc It did the same to me. It really was the first anime to have this effect on me, and I've watched tons of anime. I watched the life of a character, I watched him with his high school sweet heart, then he married her, then they had a child. And god.. what happened completely broke my heart. And at the end.. it cheered me up a bit, but just thinking about it I still get real sad. It's the most beautiful anime I've ever watched.
+Nicholas Maguire first anime to make me cry besides Elfen Lied manga. That and Planetarian. I suppose Asia in DXD made me angry at the priest dude. I hated him. I wanted him to suffer more than he did
+Nicholas Maguire I bow the knee to Key's brilliance wrt Clannad and Clannad After Story. Anime at it's finest and I've seen more anime than I care to admit.
As a policeman in Germany, I listen every time. When it snows at night, your soul is calm. 2 years in Luckenwald in the German police. I'm 20. I recently rescued a child from a burning house while the firefighters were on the call. I cried a lot. That was after. Watched at the service of the anime "Clannad" 😭 I am a Russian-speaking German citizen. I know German and Russian. I watched "Clannad" in both languages. I'm easy to understand. Only tears, alas. Thank you to the creators of this anime!

Clannad (including the afterstory) is the only anime that has made me literally cry. I did tear up in some other anime but this onr made me cry the most ;3;
*To anyone reading this*: You really are more important than you think, you just have to search for that very thing that makes you important and everything in your life will be much more clear. I'm not one with many beliefs, but believing in yourself is something that's truly special. Clannad showed me that no matter how disheartening something is for you, all you can do is fight for your importance in life, and if you're upset, always seek the ones closest to you, even if they're not physically there. Thank you so very very much for being...you :) - just a little confidence from me, Skylor Krahn (Clannad moved me so much I feel like I should leave this here) I was searching for romance anime, came across this, I never realized I could cry so much, especially someone like me(I have Aspergers).
hey man, I can see your msg very thoughtful of you. I have played through the vn once (during covid), which is a life-changing experience by itself (if you have the luxury and time and money, I would suggest to play it I bought it on my switch). The anime also has those special moments that you can't really describe sometimes and really cuts through your emotions like butter. I remember watching the anime back in 2013 and it holds a special place in my heart no matter how many times I reminisce in it or rewatch it with a friend.
@@okluminous566 I do think VNs are very immersive, but that's also why I fear them, I feel like if it's something like this, I would probably drown in my own tears. I know that it's very underrated but I can't say I'm willing to play it when the show itself tugged at my feeling that hard already. Maybe one day in the future I'll find myself playing a VN but probably not for this, it would just hurt too much.
I am here today to say....value your parents...my dad suddenly died 3 weeks ago at young age....He wasn't best dad...but when I had problems he would help me to solve them in his own way, he woould say some harsh words, because he believes they would help me...so I wanna say to you to have some understanding before you judge them and try to have as much momories as you can have with them...because you never know when the time will come and you will never see them again...
I can t believe ,that such an anime that I called boring in 2014 ,I would re watch it in 2015 ,and call it ,a masterpiece down to the core ,thanx you for making me cry like a river ,making me laugh crazily like an idiot ,make me a believer ,and thanx you for making me a human
This song will always have a special place in my heart, my wife introduced me to this when it was on netflix and we both fell in love with it. This song is the one we played at her funeral last year, I ended up getting a lot of flack for using a song from an anime but after it was done playing everyone was crying and the people that had issues before apologized afterwards and said it fit her perfectly. Thank you for uploading this.
you know, if you remember the moment when the FULL, TRUE version of this beautiful melody was played ... you surely also remember that you were crying at that moment ...
Clannad is the anime which would make you realise that once in a any moment of clannad, it would refer to your personal life as for me it was the moment when Tomoya said to his father to stop, "said that you've done enough".
I'm rewatching Clannad, one episode a day. Today was the day that Nagisa died. I'm crying just as hard as I did the first time, but all I can think is that in two days is episode 18. THE episode. The train, the sunflower field, the Daddy's arms comment... if I wasn't already crying, this song would've made me.
damn... this hurts... but also gives me a sense of nostalgia... I miss CLANNAD.... I have re-watched it many times but that feeling when I first watched it during Christmas in winter ... is a gold memory.
This amazing song has about 11.000 likes and not even 100 dislikes. The people who have feelings is more than the other ones who don't have a heart. There's a little hope for the world even today. Clannad forever. This song is a masterpiece, no matter what the stupid persons think.
Gosh this anime has given me SO many feels. I cried so hard during many scenes of it, especially After Story. It has had such an impact on my life to be honest
Amazing soundtrack and clannad is something like ( no words to say ) people who don't like the romance and sad genre must watch it once, it will totally change their perspective of seeing the world.
It's been 5 months since I watched this anime and every time I hear or see something that even resembles something Clannad or Nagisa I cry for the next hour non stop
Listening this on December nights again... I hope ill listen to this masterpiece again another year...same month same time with the same peaceful yet painful feelings.
Inevitable llorar con ésta canción, trae tantos recuerdos a la mente, lo peor es haber visto este anime y esas escenas tan emotivas cuando pasaba momentos difíciles y me recuerda a todo eso :'(
Earlier this month I had to go through a really really bad break up and one of my friends told me to watch clannad because it was a life changing experience for him so when I did I thought it was dumb at first, i kept watching and it taught me that even when you lose something precious keep going on for yourself and others and never forget that family and friends are among the most valuable and precious things in life. No other anime or show has ever brought me to tears like clannad has. this is a show I wish my children will watch when they get older so they too will come to appreciate the meaning of love, life, their family, and their friends as much as I do now. :)
I think i watched Clannad maybe 10-13 years ago, this anime is a masterpiece. It's an anime that even how many years pass, your heart still remembers how it feels.
Just finished watching this anime. And just... Wow... This is one of 2 anime’s that have made me cry. And this one made me cry a lot more than the other. This was just so powerful. My only complaints are that it got a little confusing and that Sunohara was greatly underused. At least in After Story. I would have loved to see him have an actual romantic storyline. He was definitely my favorite in that show. Him and Fuko. Thank you for this anime!
Jun Maeda is the only one who made me think if I'm happy right now, that my life doesn't have to end yet, that I still have a chance, a chance with friends and family. Even if I'm not a super human like Kotarou, even if I don't have eternal friendships like Yuuichi or Riki, even if I'm not a Yukito looking for something in my life, even when my school life is like Tomoya, there's still a chance, I can see it, a chance for me to be happy, to live, to smile with those ones I love.
This song sounded so happy when I first heard it, like a lovely memory. Now I am typing this through tears in my eyes. This song reminds me of both happy memories and the really sad moments in Clannad...
I finally got around to watching Clannad the past few days. I cried, I was changed, I'll never forget. Very few things impacted me like this. If anything, I felt scared. The stuff Tomoya went through is probably my biggest fear in life. I don't think I would have the strength to get through it.
This song makes me cry manly tears. And I am NOT ashamed!
I'd be worried if you didn't cry. That anime is so very feelsy...just listening to this song makes me cry. Hell, I'm shedding tears atm and I ain't afraid to say so.

I'm 34 years old .
飄宏林 35 here and the first time I saw it had a kid about Ushio's age. It hits a *lot* stronger if you have a child of your own. Trying to get to that field of flowers in winter was the worst, and best all at once.
I'm 60 and this show made me cry...very hard. Over Nagisa.
@@BladeOfLight16 I know your comment was 4 years ago, but... beautifully explained. That's why every human throughout every century told stories.
7 years later, you still there?
If Ushio didn't look like Nagisa, this anime wouldn't be nearly as sad but fuckk imagine how heartbreaking it would be for Tomoya everytime he looked at his daughter he'd be reminded of Nagisa
And then after Tomoya accepted everything, Ushio dies. Like bro, what the fuck why can't Tomoya be happy goddammit!? Happily, everything ends amazing and great for our main characters, but still I ask myself ever since I watched the scene of Ushio dying, How much pain can someone bear with?
@@madden7732 he couldn't he died too
@@Vigilante-k4q who? Ushio? Yeah thats what I said lol
@@madden7732 no tomoya did die

Amazing how the best romance anime ever doesn't have a single kiss in it. Props for making such a great story about family and love.
XD)
+Tomori well said I love Clannad xx
+Tomori Actually, I think the decision to not show as much physical affection was great. Because whenever it happened was so so special. Everytime they went a bit further I felt it. I felt it as close as it is to the real thing and that's the point I think. Also, not showing them "getting it on" was also a great idea in my opinion because the child was even more of a surprise.
Amen
+Tomori Were there any haters in the first place? if so then I'd guess it's just the salt from their tears (salty people xD)
the same reason some says gundam seed is the best gundam ever
Dango Dango Dango Dango...Dango Daikazoku :'(

Clannad is still the only anime that has literally made me seriously think about life and relationships... I cried during the anime, after the anime and I even had dreams that were influenced by Clannad that made me tear up when I wake up...
Fuck sakes Clannad, how can AN ANIME be so fucking depressing and sad... I don't get it... why...
#iCryEverytym
I know just how you feel bro. I'm pretty sure everyone feels the same way aswell. ;w;
Retz Its that strong, hell i couldnt even hold back my tears and im a faceless jerk xD
The VN should be coming to the PC via Steam at some point.
BetaBlue42 when?
you should watch anohana.... it will make u cry, if this made u cry
To me it's like being part of a family :D (wow I should write an essay..)
i played the visual novel and when nagisa first appears and the song played i was speech less, the song touched me instantly and i stared to tear up, and i can stop tearing up every time i hear it
Clannad as typical as it may sound changed my life
Around 2 years ago I was an 8th grader who was a foriegn student in the Philippines, I am full Filipino but I was born and raised in America. My classmates treated me like I was an american though and tried to take advantage of me. Years later I completed clannad and now I've actually adjusted more to the culture and have made more friends, thank you clannad for everything
Congratulations
Heard the melody at the beginning and just started tearing up
Listening in 2024. first played the visual novel 20 years ago and this theme still hurts me like hell while also providing some comfort. Clannad literally impacted how I see the world and the relationships within it.
i haven't listen this song in a while and now when i'm listening it i can feel my blood circulating in my veins
i dunno why
i should be crying now but it had a happy ending
but i'm not crying
this is not normal
i need to go to the hospital right now
nah the story was gr8 pretty emotionel...the music is from key studios not strange to be feeling line that :)
your blood is crying for you ;-;
This song is touching, some people cry other don't, it is normal to cry or not to. Stop trying to be the special snowflake, be yourself.
Hypoc same
Same bruh thats the reason I'm not crying when I hear this because it has a happy ending.
CLANNAD is a beauty of life itself.
This song gives me chills ...
clannad is so good, it even makes lelouche cry

I wanted him to suffer more than he did
+The Lunar tic On the grass Elfen lied just about destroyed my sanity.Lol! What a mind-bending story. OMG!
+Nicholas Maguire I bow the knee to Key's brilliance wrt Clannad and Clannad After Story. Anime at it's finest and I've seen more anime than I care to admit.
imo the dub on this anime was rather good, compared to many other anime out there. in fact a ton of key anime is quite well dubbed.
Tears streaming down my face in the first 5 seconds....ಥдಥ
I cried most on the last episode when they're on the hill, and Tomoya runs after Nagisa.
As a policeman in Germany, I listen every time. When it snows at night, your soul is calm. 2 years in Luckenwald in the German police. I'm 20. I recently rescued a child from a burning house while the firefighters were on the call. I cried a lot. That was after. Watched at the service of the anime "Clannad" 😭

+Heather Smith Simply that line "It was a first thing from daddy" is a trigger enough to make me cry...

Thank you for this anime!
everytime i hear this , i immideately start crying . clannad really changed my life , i wish i can watch it again for the first time
Jun Maeda is the only one who made me think if I'm happy right now, that my life doesn't have to end yet, that I still have a chance, a chance with friends and family.

THE FEELS
I finally got around to watching Clannad the past few days. I cried, I was changed, I'll never forget. Very few things impacted me like this. If anything, I felt scared. The stuff Tomoya went through is probably my biggest fear in life. I don't think I would have the strength to get through it.
Clannad is just such an experience
