Today we're gonna talk about the WORST exotics in Destiny 2. Exotic Weapons, that is. I'd like to also do a worst exotic ARMOR video, but may have to wait until Destiny 2 season 19 to drop that one. Tell me how wrong I am in the comment section!

It is kind of neat though that with merciless so long as you don't get a kill with it you can actually save your damage buff for the boss, blast something else without getting a Kill then just swap away from it and when you come back to it you'll already have somewhat better charge time. Though it literally took the glitch from the dream time origin trait or whatever it was called that let you overfill the magazine for this to actually be good but it was still a neat thing to find out
@@icicle_ai I think that it should be affected by whatever subclass you currently have. Leave it mostly the same but if you're on a solar subclass it adds a massive amount of scorch to the Target enough that if they were already scorched at all it pretty much causes an additional ignition on impact. And if you're on void then not only does it suppress the target but it also makes it volatile
Each of the exotic glaives. Someone somewhere at bungie said "yeah let's give this single-shot projectile weapon STOCKS in the fourth column instead of literally any other perk." Stocks that adjust the recoil and stability stat... of glaives....
Yeah the added functionality they put in last season was nice but it's not enough. Easiest fix in my opinion is voltshot for the hunter one, incandescent for the warlock one, and repulsor brace for the titan one. AND REMOVE THE STOCKS. The legendary glaives don't even have stock choices!

It's my favorite invading weapon in Gambit and it's so fun. Especially if you use Marksman Golden Gun. Can one-hit anyone anywhere on the map with both. Mildly evil.

@@joshuaroman6479 The PvP nerf was unfortunate though. Need charged with light to bodyshot through overshields (invaders).
Not saying every “useless” exotic that is “useless” at the time can be fixed with adding a champion mod to it, but doing something beneficial is better than nothing and letting an exotic just be useless.

The worst thing about Queenbreaker is that the blinding makes it work against itself. Once you blind an enemy, they usually cover their crit spot or turn away from you, which makes it difficult to land follow-up shots
Darci being able to stun any champion would be immaculate. Make it so that when you aim sights on a champion for like 1 second, it changes its ammo type to be able to stun it. It would also support its trait description more.
I feel like the problem with that would just be champ mods and other weapons with type specific champ mods would all be kinda useless if you can pull out the auto stun everything weapon
@@KnightKingu Darci is a power weapon though and actually has pretty garbage damage numbers for a power weapon. So you're sacrificing the choice to use a strong exotic + a power slot just to stun any champion. If that isn't enough then they could give it an ICD so that it can't switch champion types in a pinch.
I've seen this suggestion 9 million times and it's something Bungie will never do because the main point of champion mods is that it forces you to use weapons you might not normally use. Having a weapon that essentially removes the entire point of champions, no matter how "meta" or "good" it might be.
@@Boonesman Except it doesn't remove the point of champions since it's a literal garbage tier power weapon. Vex Mythoclast literally outclassed it at some point as a PRIMARY ammo weapon when linears had their seasonal mod. Like I said you're sacrificing a BIG chunk of your weapon damage + an actually powerful exotic just to be able to stun any champion. And even if Darci was able to do that, I doubt it would instantly be a top tier weapon since something like Arbalest or Monarque exists.
@@adoboflakes8473 I'm not saying it would be good. In fact, I think it would be terrible in most content. That was exactly my point, Bungie doesn't want you to invalidate the champion mechanic. They want you to think about it, they want you to interact with it, to use champion mods, different weapons, build around it, so they're not going to add a weapon that allows you to essentially disregard it entirely, even if it's bad.
Salvations grip should have a alt fire mode that turns it into a cooling weapon that functions like a flamethrower and freezing enemies. Making frostbite debuff stacks to combatants will eventually break and deal shatter damage to anything nearby. Also slowing them as they begin to freeze

That would turn it into a trace rifle which would be cool, but we already have one of those. I would think alt fire wave frame grenades would fit the theme and weapon type.

Let it actually do damage and enemies hit by it are slowed and a debuff that makes enemies take increased stasis damage for 10 seconds
This might be impossible, or very difficult to implement, but I think it would be cool for DARCI to really lean into the AI-assisted autoloading mechanic. Imagine that after scanning a target, it can not only load specific champion rounds, but also different round types. If your aiming at something without a crit spot, like a brig, or an un-stunned wyvern, or something that requires crowd control, like a group of ads, it loads rounds that deal much higher bodyshot damage and AoE, like explosive shells, or straight up buckshot. Aiming at a target with a crit spot massively boosts crit damage, at the cost of entirely gutting the non-crit damage
That sounds awesome.
I was thinking something more along the lines of Banshee's Sonar ability in Warframe. It basically slaps a super crit-spot in a random location on the enemy.
So for DARCI, it would be like you aim at the enemy for a second or two, and it picks a part of the body to apply a bonus crit modifier to. To lean even more into this, it could have a stacking damage bonus for landing rapid crits, but have massively reduced non-crit damage
Or just highlight what the crit spot actually is? Wouldn’t that be “critical information”?

I’m all for this idea. I like the trade off of having to aim at a target and sort of analyze it for a second before the benefit unlike arbi. They could give it a cool animation, sound effect, and put it on a time around no distractions or something
here's another idea for DARCI: hovering over the target shows a VATS style weak spot on the target, hitting it does more damage than a normal crit, missing it slightly less. every few seconds/shots (like 3 or 4 of either) the enhanced crit spot moves. This way you really have to engage with the scan ability, would make sense to keep rapid fire and you won't be outright cheesing enemies by having a singular weak spot that you can unload on
I *SWEAR* I've heard this concept on another gun somewhere, either in destiny or in another shooter
Still, I think that'd be a really cool idea for DARCI, though maybe with some tweaking to ensure it doesn't straight-up out-dps every other heavy exotic

In Warframe, there's a character called Banshee who has an ability that spawns a crit spot on an enemy, except it's an AOE thing and the spot itself doesn't move

There is no a way in hell someone mains salvations grip.
I did for a little bit because I didn't realize I hadn't unlocked all the stasis stuff for my warlock lol.
Someone from lfg used salvations grip and lubraes ruin in lightblade gm and he whooped ass, it's at least useful for some things
I tired on a Stasis Titan build using the slide to immediately shader them, and stuff. Then Head Stone become a perk so, I stopped using it immensely lmao. They need to buff that thing, the idea of it is really cool.

Sometimes I consider it. Then I use it and immediately put it away again.
I remember back in the beginning of D2, during the first Calus raid when Rally Barricades auto reloaded your weapon, Merciless was so fun to use on Calus. Charge time became basically zero when you didn't have to reload. Kinda sad that's gone now.

It kept the legacy of pocket infinity going for just a little while longer
@@baskimo5346 Hunter dodge didn't quite measure up because all you needed to do was crouch and stand up and it reloaded from behind the barricade. Dodge has too much movement and it isn't spammable. Plus had more downtime where you weren't shooting.
I really like the idea of making Queenbreaker able to blind normally unblindable targets like Champions or mini-bosses. It would make a very viable pick in Champion-heavy GM's.
Salvations Grip just needs an alt firing mode that fires regular grenades.
This would up it's versatility by a lot.
-create walls for defensive purposes.
-create platforms for exploring and jump puzzles.
-freezing enemies of course
-swap to regular grenades to destroy the walls for shatter damage.
-swap to regular grenades for add clear
-swap to regular grenades for traditional dps.

Those intro slides for each weapon got me. The Prospector one especially had me rolling.
One time, I was getting the Wishender quest done in Shattered Throne, and I accidentally skipped an orb and jumped down after Thrallway, which made it impossible to get back up...well, until we got Salvation's Grip out and created a jumping puzzle to stairway ourselves up to Thrallway. Unique, useful, fills a specific niche. I'm okay with it lol

I had a somewhat similar issue with the orbs and needing to go back before the Thrallway. But tbh I just put on stompees and 100 mobility on my hunter and it worked out well.
I've always loved the debuff idea for DARCI, like maybe when personal assistant is active landing rapid precision hits makes the target gain a 25% damage taken increase and DARCI can maybe still keep the damage buff of higher precision damage that comes with it as well or something of that sort
Okay Merciless WAS an excellent dps during Season of the Lost, but that's only because it was able to apply stacks of the seasonal "damage-of-the-season" mod incredibly quickly, and it was still beaten out by 1k in 99% of scenarios.
i think it would be cool if they combined impetus with conserve momentum; non-lethal hits reduce charge time and increase damage until its wielder gets a kill, stacks up to however many times. reloading after a kill grants max stacks. that way during a dps phase you could kill an ad, reload, then begin dps with merciless at its highest damage and fastest charge time.
I honestly think fusions as a whole need a 10 or 20% damage buff in pve
I actually really love two tailed fox, there is an aspect on void that reloads your weapon when suppressing so you can just kinda spam the two tailed fox without needing to reload it, couple it with gyrfalcons if your a hunter, or just argent ordinance, and its fun to use
Two tailed fox is not awful for dealing with match game either, since it covers two different damage types with a single weapon.

It sucks that the suppress aspect has a small cooldown so u cant spam it
I love the sounds it makes. The chirping sound when the you aim at an enemy, the "pop-pop" when the rockets are launched, and the exited whistling noise the rockets make while flying torwards the enemy.
I hope it gets an catalyst sometime, my idea would be that, when both rockets hit the target directly, an additional arc explosion is caused, doing damage and also jolts the target.
@@ndr2q you have three other exotic weapons that do that better, and the Adaptive Munitions perk on some legendary weapons. Plus, RLs are low on ammo. So not an amazing shield breaking option, all said.
I think the only buffs the Darci needs to not be considered a trash exotic is slightly more overall damage and to become a special ammo weapon instead of a power ammo weapon.

@thecesarschannel1707 Not true. There are some outliers, but as a whole guns are in a good spot. The issue is ability cooldowns. A few seasons ago, we FINALLY got to a more gun-focused crucible, where you actually had to be strategic about when you used abilities -- but then they immediately came out with Void 3.0, and it's been ability spam again ever since.
I really love Two-Tailed Fox and even used it when playing on my Hunter in the Legendary Campaign on Witch Queen (The Suppression instantly sets off Stylish Execution). I even pitched idea of it having a Catalyst dubbed "A Hidden Tail" which gives it a 3rd rocket that has Lasting Impression so it can give Jolt to the target before it explodes while also blinding any enemy the survived in the blast radius.
I just watched Fallout's newest video at time of writing. They're literally doing this.

I used Two-Tailed throughout the Witch Queen legendary campaign as it’s suppression effect was very helpful against lucent hive.
It's busted in gambit because each rocket can target a different guardian when you're invading. Idk why people say it's bad.
Idea #1: turn The Prospector into the Sticky Launcher from TF2. M1 to fire grenades, and M2 to detonate. On top of that, you get a stacking damage buff based on how many undetonated grenades are laying around/attached to enemies.
Idea #2: give Merciless a nerfed version of Particle Deconstruction.
Idea #3: turn Salvation's Grip into a heavy Statis wave grenade launcher. Enemies killed by the Stasis wave turn into larger than normal Stasis crystals. Enemies killed by crystal explosions also turn into crystals.
Idea #4: give Darci wall hacks when its loaded and while ads.

Just gotta say seeing someone else using the Boudica-C sidearm is very satisfying, it really is a great PvE weapon, might i recommend a surrounded and threat detector roll, its quite good.
I'd make a spot on your list to add Worldline Zero. Love the design. But basically any legendary sword is essentially just as effective if not more when you count caster swords.
I want to disagree because I genuinely enjoyed using Worldline Zero. Once you get a hang of using the Tesseract perk (especially with the catalyst) it becomes quite a fascinating weapon.
But I stopped using it because I like Quickfang too much, and because Black Talon with the Tangled Paladin ornament is both much sexier and has that excellent ranged attack. If you don't ever feel like using a weapon and hate how it takes up an inventory slot, it's pretty objectively bad.
worldline zero is just fun to use, no other thing is needed and in pvp you can charge it around corners and the aim assist is nuts

It already fires Glacier grenades make it fire the other two.
I like the idea that D.A.R.C.I. Makes the entire enemy a crit spot. So aslong a personal assistant is active you can shoot anywhere on them and get a crit. Like a good personal assistant.
but the dmg still sucks. currently even if you hit all crits its still doing less dmg than a normal sniper rifle. it needs a massive dmg boost or make is a special ammo weapon with a decent dmg boost and a passive rework.
@@1st_Atom I mean sure ya number buffs are needed, but that's what i would do for the perk rework. Not all guns have to be competitive. DARCI being the noob gun that lets newer players or players with disabilities easily hit crits is a serviceable position for it.
They should add that to the catalyst. Then also buff the raw damage numbers outside the catalyst. Like carrying around a personal Divinity built into a sniper.

2:05 Prospector Idea: prospector works the same as it does now, but it sticks nades to enemies of all types but to detonate you double tap reload or some other bind to detonate all active nades. so theoretically you could stack up all the ammo you can carry into one big explosion or a bunch of enemies to detonate (also maybe a slight dmg buff and/or catalyst gives it chain reaction or some other useful perk)
*BOOM* now _that’s_ some Prospectin’!
Queenbreaker update should be:
Buff Charge Time from 633 to 533, to match the other LFR's in its 41 damage class (ex. Stormchaser).
Buff Recoil direction from 41 to 81 to again match the non-exotic LFR's in its class.
Remove Hip-Fire Grip, give it a custom Quickdraw + Auto-loading perk.
Change Wire Rifle exotic passive from "Blinds on hit" which is useless to "Blinding explosion on headshot kill", like the Arc conduit for special ammo weapons, but all the time because it's an Arc/Exotic/Power.
honestly idk what they can do to save queenbreaker. even if it did have that aoe blind, why wouldn't I just use arc with spark of beacons and my crafted forbearance, or any other arc special? or a blinding ignition code/truthteller on any other subclass? hopefully they've thought about all that and we can see some good change next season
What's wild is all the effort that goes into creating exotics that after release rot in the vault. Rinse and repeat every season. What a waste of resources.
I'd argue armor is in a way worse state with about 20 pieces being used in pvp and pve.
Bungie needs a dedicated team to rework these. I loved what they've done with most of the recently reworked exotics.
I wish Merciless had been left in the heavy slot and just did like 30% more damage at base.

I think Queenbreaker would be cool as a DPS option if they did a rework where you can hit an enemy with the slow or fast charge shot, hold reload for an alternate fire that switches scopes/fire modes and increases the other fire mode's damage by like 20% or something. Just a thought that came to mind.
I actually love Eyes Of Tomorrow but it's true that you need a build in order to make it something good, by itself it's a pretty standard weapon
I just run it if I need to farm Gambit, since as Invader it is exceedingly rare I ever get less than 2 kills with it, and it's very easy to get Army of One.

@@xd-xt2cn gambit isn't terrible, I can usually knock the objectives out in 30-40 minutes with randoms if I use eyes, otherwise half that with friends, and get my objectives for the season.
@@THEGRUMPTRUCK I just got Malfeasance and I stopped playing gambit, soloing the quest is painful at least for an average/bad pvp player such as me, I still have nightmares with that quest and gambit :^
Two-tailed could be so amazing if they made the void rocket do something like make them weakened, suppressed and volatile (as well as volatile on targets hit by aoe), and the solar rocket do a full ignite on direct hit and at least 75 stacks of scorch on targets hit by aoe. The ignite explosion should trigger the volatile explosion giving extra damage from both, while also making them take more damage from the weaken so those explosions actually do more than usual, and help the team damage too.
As someone who runs high end PVE alone often, the flexibility that Two Tailed gives you is actually phenomenal. Two Tailed is great for dealing with high health/ high damage shielded enemies, as no matter what it will suppress them AND it can pop void and solar shields in 1 shot. It also has an abnormally large ammo reserve for a launcher- i think 2 more than normal?- so it's good for sustained damage. These traits are again most useful in high end solo pve, but still it's one of my go-tos. I remember running the Hawkmoon and heroic DMT missions with it and falling in love. Also locking on 2 people in pvp is so fun even though it kills you sometimes
Have you tried using Salvation's Grip with a Special Grenade Launcher? Fire cluster after cluster of fully-charged shots (faster than you think), freeze any nearby enemies, then let loose. If you spaced it out well enough, the shatter damage could take out a whole cluster of enemies with one grenade. And with that many crystals, shatter damage is powerful
Or you could use Ager's Scepter
Agreed, salvation’s grip is a complete meme-tier weapon to use on people. The best I’ve done with it is to freeze an invader, then shatter dive them. Again, complete meme of a weapon.
I think that stun any champion buff for Darci is really cool. And for the queen breakers bow I think buffing the damage, giving it a champion mod and giving it an explosive blinding headshot hit mechanic would be really good too
I thoroughly enjoyed the flute toots paired with the amazing artwork of said weapon. Makes the video a lot more enjoyable even though it’s only something small
I'm so old I remember when merciless was a power weapon and considered for endgame content :V
The irony of DARCI's exotic perk able to deal precision damage for lingering on a target is actually inconsistent. Oryx' crit point opens up around his chest. But DARCI doesn't see that part of Oryx as something you're "lingering your crosshairs" on.
I always loved the idea of darci as I recall something about darci being able to talk to the player and i think either swapping it's ammo and fixing the exotic perk or just making it much more of a powerhouse considering it's a heavy weapon then I think it'd be so cool as the concept is great but it's practically a special sniper that takes heavy ammo
the only defense I have for Two-tailed is what you already touched on, its void synergy. Using domineering you can skip a reload and fire off again for a total of 4 rockets. Sadly domineering has a hidden timer so you cant do it back to back to back but thought it was worth mentioning if there were any (very) off meta enthusiasts like myself.
Literally just yesterday someone used Salvation's Grip in IB so they could platform and murder my team. Respect to that guardian, they did their job well!
Queenbreaker really should just be a special weapon, wouldn’t make the problem worse because Lorentz already exists. That change would do nothing except increase the usage rate of QB
They honestly just need to make the salvations grip a special weapon but a single shot magazine that requires a decent reload. When freezing three enemies at once it loads two additional rounds into your next reload allowing for three shots and succession that have a wider area freezing. Making it way more viable for stassis builds and allowing players to still have their heavy slot to deal damage on those frozen enemies
For queen breakers bow it would be the same thing. Turn it into a special weapon and allow it to quick swap between its scopes with a hold reload. Tune its damage down slightly to be on par with other special exotics and there you go.
Two Tailed Fox helped me out a lot in one of the Europa legend lost sectors back when I didn't have a lot of weapons or a good build. For that, I will always appreciate it but it could really use some love.
The 0.1% of DARCI PVE users were probably the people unlucky enough to have it's catalyst drop, and needed to get 300 kills with it to unlock it.
I tend to use DARCI for Sniper Bounties in conjunction with a special Sniper and just load into vanguard playlists.
Idea to buff DARCI : when personal assistant is active, you can see flashy red dots on your enemy, which are super critical spots that deals something like x10 damage, but are hard to hit, and impossible to see nor hit without DARCI's personal assistant

I just find DARCI to be a cool gun, a glorified memento, looks awesome, has a cool mechanic. Useless in all scenarios of course but a very fun gun to simply have
I think one simple change they could make to queen breaker to make it exponentially better is to just make it jolt targets on precision hits. That way it would be a decent ad clear exotic as well as give it boss dps potential for your entire team.

About Darci, the personal assistant could be improved by just making it hit for more damage against targets it has scanned. Against bosses it could do progressively more damage which would give it an actual reason to use power ammo. The stun idea sounds great too tbh
100% agree with all these. I do however have Two Tailed Fox in my regular rotation with my Void Hunter using Stylish Executioner because of the void debuff, you go Invisible after every long ranged kill with it. Mix in your Gyrfalcon's Hubrick and you get that sweet damage bonus as well!

I've actually been using merciless in kings fall, for both golgoroth and warpriest! Paired with divinity and lunafaction it is a really nice booster when running through ammo with fire and forget or the 4fr
I liked DARCI a lot when doing the catalyst in pvp. Granted, it was back in Warmind where we had double primary and double heavy pickups every minute.
To be honest, if the gun is so smart it might as well do the job by itself: make it take over a second to acquire a target making it hit a crit with every shot and stun any champ. Could even add auto-trigger then for good measure.

Fun fact: This is false. DARCI deals more damage on a precision hit than a Legendary Special Ammo 72rpm Sniper, at nearly double the RoF. If said legendary has Vorpal or Firing Line it will deal slightly more damage per shot than DARCI, but will still have far less DPS.
Granted this is with DARCI's perk active, but the perk requires no effort to activate and is nearly guaranteed to be active on every shot.
But for the sake of the argument, without PA active DARCI is dealing slightly more damage per shot than a 90rpm Legendary, and still outputs more DPS than a 72rpm Legendary.
Fact of the matter is Snipers suck. DARCI is substantially stronger than any Special Legendary Sniper, but that's a very low bar to clear. The only 2 Snipers that are good are Cloudstrike and Whisper, which are exceptions to the rule.
@@godqueensadie but you do have to include damage perks into the special ammo side because DARCI also does with its perk, all around the what I said is true however you are correct in it doing more damage at than special ammo snipers at their BASE damage. You’re also right to say all snipers are shit other than whisper and cloudstrike which I believe could also get a small recoil direction buff but I think that might just be me.
Darci. Once ot hits a target the personal assist triggers a debuff that some type of dmg is increased depending on the target. Like void on taken or solar on cabal. Even kenitic on bosses.

What hurts is that, before the High Impact nerf, Merciless was a massive sleeper pick in PvP. Its sound design meant you didn't know how far along it was with its charge, Like Bastion or Erentil. It also had, UNNERFFED Feeding Frenzy and Kill Clip. Was a monster.

An idea I had for Darci is since it is supposed to be an AI assistance thing. Why now when it is locked on make it aim assist in that it automatically headshots the locked on target like a built in aim bot but with the limitation of the lock on timer to display enemy info (obviously adjust the time it takes for it to not be op).

But these exotics were so bad i had forgotten they even existed. Hell, the moment you switched over to the next exotic it was like they immediately got Thanos snapped from my memories!

I used merciless in the leviathan raid during the Gauntlet for the orange bars that would come out to start the runners going. That was before/during when it was broken and the perk flat out didn't work so you were stuck with 1000 charge time. But it was great for the orange bars, solar vs solar shields and it hits hard so one or two voops and they'd be dead and I could turn around and help my clanmates who were always slow on that part for some reason. And that's the only time I've used it.
I would 100% run DARCI if it meant that it worked against all champions. Preferably with a longer stun time or a big damage buff.
Salvation's grip does have an alternate use, but it's also not for anything significant. I sometimes use it for repeatedly freezing champs to reset their stun timer so I can farm the stun champions seasonal challenge. So it's parkour and seasonal challenge cheese farming.
Good list. Queenbreaker, DARCI, and Salvation's Grip are particularly egregious, IMO. The others could get minor tweaks like Light 3.0 keyword integration and/or cool catalysts, and would be at least serviceable. But these three need full reworks to have a hope of being worth using.
I'd also give "dishonorable mentions" to Worldline Zero, Delicate Tomb, and Leviathan's Breath. All pretty useless in PVE and PVP, arguably outclassed by legendary alternatives.
delicate tomb is pretty good, especially with a fallen sunstar spam build. but yeah, when we eventually get an arc fusion with voltshot, not sure where it will stand

13:53 I have an idea. That "critical information" it talks about could be it scanning for weaknesses and maybe that makes their critbox bigger or makes them take more damage. It could even have something entirely different, like crit hits increase critbox size temporarily and make the enemy take more damage.
I used the no7 in your list for a bit , as I got a catalyst for it, then banked it when that was done , I agree with all that you say :D
I only related to merciless and darci, I loved old merciless, I loved Darci’s scope but it was outclassed by whisper at the time.
Darci's PA should trigger like box breathing but allows you to hit a crit regardless of location. it would need other things too (like dmg on a heavy sniper that makes sense) but this would be a cool feature that makes the gun unique while also not making it broken

The usage numbers for DARCI was probably due solely to me trying to get the catalyst.
Eyes of tomorrow, Queenbraker and Merciless are some of My favourite wepons to use in raids so I am sad to see them here
I think a catalyst that included reload speed/reloading mechanic (that isn't just the void fragment), and a slight damage bump would be enough to make Two-Tailed Fox a really solid pick. I hope it gets something, its one of my favorites.

I will say, salvation's grip does have an incredibly solid but niche utility for building a grenadier build for stasis, but again very niche.
DARCI was my first exotic in D2 (world drop exotic, anyway). The last time I seriously used it was when Scourge of the Past was still around. It did phenomenal damage on Insurrection Prime, alongside Whisper and Outbreak Perfected.
