This video is gold. Such good tips Matty. Can't wait to learn more from your adventures with your little ones and then implement the tips myself one day.
Edit: watching this as I cuddle my 4 week old to sleep after a midnight feed
@JustinOutdoors Enjoy those moments Justin, they grow up so insanely fast
Congratulations, Dad! What a great mini-series about your great first bacpacking adventure with your young son. Three decades ago I camped with my daughter and we still talk about it. Keep your precious memories alive.
Just trying to pass on what I learned from the experience. And a cool way for myself to kinda document his journey as a hiker, and seeing how he grows into it.
Funny how every kid is different. My kids love having a ball of some sort with us. Chasing down a trail, or throwing it around. They also like when I bring some balloons to play “keepy upy”
@@TheNypenfan Might have to keep the ball game in mind.
Super helpful video to a fellow double toddler dad! Thanks dude
Glad you found it helpful!
I feel like sometimes I need a bib…looking forward to seeing little man on more trips!
You'll definitely be seeing a bunch of him next spring and summer! Not sure ill be taking him in the winter, so he'll have to wait a bit
Thanks for making the video. I hope you get lots of time out in the woods with your family.
I hope so too! Glad you enjoyed
The MSR elixir 4 looks cool, but it is a heavy tent. Something I just tried and it kept kids 3-11 entertained was bringing some pipe cleaners and letting them make figurines, animals, tools, or whatever for games their imaginations came up with.
@davidcooper8390 the tent is a lot lighter if you ditch the footprint and bring lighter tent stakes!
It might sound totally stupid but I see potential in your trail magik carier for my dog 🐾 😅
Those especially made for dogs never fit smaller ones. And even they become heavy when you have to cary them for miles and miles. Think I am going to do some research on that one.😊
I could see it working for a smaller pup
@@MattyOutdoors that's good to hear. Decided to order one to see if I can modify it (if that's needed) to use it for him.
@@MattyOutdoors I ordered one and it actually works! Working on a video right now. Will give you a shout out also 😉
@@theoutdoordogandhikinggirl Awesome to hear it works for your little pup!
Garbage bag poncho would work
Im hoping so!
