God bless you! You just saved me like $5000. I just moved into a home with 7 mini splits and i was just researching that it's on average $400 per unit to have them serviced and you should do it twice a year! That's outrageous for something so simple. I can do this myself! I'm gonna order all these Nu-Calgon products this spring and clean all these units myself! Thank you!!!
Thank you for this video. I have 3 and they always charge 1500. Thank you for teaching me this. We have Lennox and I will need to learn what to take apart
That is a super high price. I used to pay 500 for 7 machines in Hawaii to be cleaned. Now I do them myself. I usually take the blower wheel out. Have been scared of trying this method now I am thinking of trying it.
We have an old mini split (16 years old) where I work and the maintenance guy “says” he cleans it but I can promise it has never been cleaned like this. It will blow black/gray chunks out and we have to have a suction pump on it to help it drain or it will just spill over from the unit
Man now I know that the company that cleans my unit is scamming me. They do nothing like this to clean my minisplits. A real eye opener for sure. Thanks
Cool. I'm used to using the speedy clean jet coil cleaner and bib kit. It works well too. I'm not familiar with the samsung indoor heads but how come you don't remove the plastic shroud/ housing before cleaning? Is it not designed to easily come off, like a Mitsubishi head?
If I pull the breker plug out of the outside box attached to the house by the outside unit does that shut off the electric power to the inside wall evaperator unit too ?
Thank you , I could figure out which breaker it is but I've done so many electrical projects in the past few years that my labeling in the breaker box is all screwed up. That will be another project !
I think I’ve found the process i will be using to clean mini splits. And maybe a niche in a side hustle 🧐🤔💰…thing is, not sure if the company i work for will allow me to do this, on the side since i do commercial hvac/r.
I'm curious how the Turbo Tank does on seriously impacted condensing coils. I use the Port-O-Blaster, but really like the 90° head and the interchangeable tips on the Turbo Tank, as well as the option to use batteries. As I live in a vacation destination, we do a lot of maintenance at resorts, and the grounds keepers are less than careful about blowing grass straight into the coil. Couple that with the fact that hundreds of them are the old, nearly indestructable, Rheem achiever 10 models and we encounter some seriously dirty coils lol
I don't have that tool but I leave them just as clean I disassemble everything just leaving the coil. He removed all the covers and blower I will try to get that tool
Hi Tad, I dont have those compones due to the fact that I am not in latin america you it might be safe to use regular liquid soap to clean it? by the way a good video!
Have a question? Hvac tech for 20+ years What do you think of the mr cool DYI units? I think there trash and A bad idea Just curious to others in the field opinions
Hey Tad, This is one of the best videos I’ve seen. I’m not an HVAC guy but just a homeowner. I’ve reached out to Nu-Calgon about those products you listed in the description. I have a question though. The air handler you cleaned in the video is definitely a different brand that I have installed in my home. The ones that I have are Johnson Controls/York, Models DHP18NWB21S and DHP09NWB21S. Do you have any experience cleaning these? I was wondering what parts I would need to take off (if any) before installing the plastic bib around the unit.
Hey I can’t say I’ve worked with that particular model but one thing I will say to help is that mini splits generally all share the same design with little tweaks im sure if you search up the plans for your model I’m sure there will be some diagram that shows you what panels you would need to take off for servicing. I hope that helped and that you’re able to find a solution to your problem
You ever seen foam tape on the top section of the coil? Cause thats what I found on mine, not sure why it’s there. 3-4 inch thick strip all across the top, all the residue stuck to the coil. Not sure how/if I should remove it
There are some drops of water that do get on the wall below the unit I always explain to the homeowner that we bring towels to make sure that we clean up whatever gets spilt on the wall. Or floor
do you have a link for kelvinator split systems? this is very different to my units and i refuse to pay the rediculous prices companies want to charge for something im sure i can do myself
It depends on how many heads they have in the house. If they only have one head, I will charge around a hundred and twenty-five dollars. If they have multiple, I will drop the price around seventy five dollars per head
Hello there ,my mini split is less than 3 years old .suddenly it started spewing water so I cut it off for a number of days.I tried turning it on it works but has a very foul odor.Any advice?by the way it a innovator system.
I did get some water on the floor throughout the cleaning process. I always tell the homeowner before I start and may spill some water. I also bring towels with me to cleanup any water that's spilled. Thanks for watching
Why you dont take off that plastic mask an than take off a blow wheel and wash it outside ....much faster and detailled job...in Croatia this will be a poor job....I am hvac tehnician and we have identical air conditioner so i know what im talking about. The blade, blow fan, pan, housing filters....everything must be washed properly. I respect good intensions but this is for homeowners diy.... P.s.wash filters from inside out...logical...🤷🏻♂️
This is why I will never work on or PM a mini split that another contractor or DIY’er installed. Ever. I got an E6 error code cleaning a 12 yr old unit. It finally went away after drying out completely, ate 3 more hours of labor. Another reason to install a standard central ducted system with an Aprilaire high efficiency air cleaner unless you absolutely have to have a mini split. Oh yeah, those cheep plastic 1500 micron filters are what caused the nasty slop water runoff. Glorified window bangers.

Excellent news my brother so glad I could help thank you for watching the videos.
where i live they told me 200 to service it each time not 400 a unit. they were overcharging
@@Heracleetus because homeowner will scream “you broke my system and need to pay for damages; it worked before you touched it!”

Wow fifteen hundred dollars That's way too much
That’s robbery

Nice job Tad ~!~. An Excellent video. You left no stone unturned, my man! You have a very nice delivery. Excellent video. Thank You.
Thank you kindly!
why not disconnect drain first so water and dirt go into bag and not down the line
Great idea

Just learned how to clean it properly. Ty so much

This video was very well explained. Great mentor
I appreciate that!
@TaddyDigest thanks for sharing your knowledge

Why no filter on minisplit?
Yo, awesome tutorial! Where's the link to the coupler between the coil gun and the turbo tank?
It comes with the turbo tank
Nice video can you post a link on where to get the turbo tank tool thanks

What is to stop the gel tab from going down the drain?
I think it's better to take off the front panel.where you have more access to your rear coil.
if the mini split system has more head tonnage than the condenser will it starve the condenser
Love it it does a great job best thing out there
Right on
How do you clean a one way ceiling cassette? There are no videos online showing how to do it
I'll do a video of how to do it.
Is the one you are showing the same as the Nu-Calgon 4291-08 Nu-Brite, 1- Gallon
Great videos
I don't have that tool but I leave them just as clean I disassemble everything just leaving the coil. He removed all the covers and blower I will try to get that tool
Is it possible to do a pump down and take the unit off the wall and clean outside?
Yes but that would be unnecessary when you have this quick easy good method.

What about the back coil
the 90-degree spray wand tip worked great for cleaning the coil in the very back top part 👍

I'm not sure

May i ask how much you normally charge to do this cleaning process?
It depends on how many heads they have in the house. If they only have one head, I will charge around a hundred and twenty-five dollars.
If they have multiple, I will drop the price around seventy five dollars per head
Do you have a model number or part number to the nucalgon setup?
I think I have all the links to the products in the description.
Im an idiot
Wow its $520
Ever come to San Antonio? I have 3 units that have never been cleaned like this! Love this video.
NU CALGON
Where can i buy the turbo tank?
Check out the link in the description
At my previous employer best they’d have is some no rinse evap cleaner foam in a spray can 😂
Nice! I love it, let’s get a discount code?!?
That would be cool I will ask for one

How $$$$$
Why you not remove the face cover of the ac this is not good not fully cleaned inside
You didn't watch the video
You had water on the floor, next shot you show the floor cleaned and act like a drop wasnt spilled.
I did get some water on the floor throughout the cleaning process.
I always tell the homeowner before I start and may spill some water.
