Hi Jim, I think my Lennox ductless mini has been running inside my wall, and my floor buckled, wall exactly underneath unit looks as though water got to it, sparkling tape shows. I don't know what to do? SOS ( no roof leaks). Thank you 🙏🏼
I cannot thank you enough for showing me/ us how to clean the clogged drain tube in my mini split! Your directions were simple and easy to follow. Thanks again 👏👏👏👏
My mini split started leaking all over our floor. I tried the wet vac method 1st because that was the easiest, and I had one available. Immediately worked like a charm! I didn't even need to do anything to the unit inside. I will be looking at cleaning the unit just because. Anyone else having this issue, I would definitely recommend that course of action first. Saved me some $$. Thank you Jim! 🙏 Subscribed! 🙂
So JIM. My mother has one of these things and at the end of that con tube I put a cut out screen ( like the screens from a window) wrapped with wire and BOOM! no bugs can crawl in and up into the system and never had a problem
Thanks for this great video and explanation! We have the same unit you showed in the video and were able to fix the leak. Your step by step instructions and clear video showed exactly what to do. Had a little trouble getting the cover off so your pointer about the 4 tabs really helped. Also a little tricky getting the drip pan back in but again your close-up of the little ridge on each side helped.
General Contractor for 15 years here. Had a client with an old unit that didn’t want to spend the money till we knock and rebuild the home in a few years since this old stuff has been discontinued in my area. Solved the problem. Excellent video.
Thanks a ton! My mini split started leaking water all over the floor and I've never taken one apart before, but this video was extremely helpful. Great post!!!
Thanks for the clear instructions. I had to take the lid off to clear the blob, which was blocking the drain . You gave me the confidence to do the job.
You’re a life saver. Mine was leaking and it’s in a tricky spot. I did the shop vac only and it cleared our clog in a heat wave. Will do the rest when temps cool outside. Thank you
Thank you for the video. The AC in my bedroom is above my bed and has been spraying me while I sleep. Needless to say, I'm over it. 😂 I am going to try your methods before I give in and call someone to service it. I have 4 units in my house and the bedroom one is the only one that does it.
Thank you so much! I was able to take my mini split apart with no problem. Found out that the issue was outside the house. The people who installed the drain line had part of it going up hill with a slight kink in the line. This kink had a build up of dirt. Once I fixed this, everything was fine. Thanks again!
Outstanding info on how too. Mine was leaking in my shop. Use shop vac method and it worked. But more important is the other take down method which I wasn’t aware of how to do in case shop vac failed. Thnk you.
Thanks Bud for this video!!! You are very clear and articulate but boy this is a project and I even installed my Mr Cool unit. I don't have a clog but I get a musty smell in the warmer weather when the unit is off. and when I called Me Cool, they said to put tablets in the drain pan. The problem is accessing it and i cannot find a video on how to access a Mr Cool drain pan. So I'll use what you told me and hopefully it will be doable. THANKS SO MUCH... STAY COOL BRO!!! Kevin Lake Mohawk. Nj
Thank Jesus the shop vac and you tube videos like yours. It’s the hottest night of the season and wouldn’t you know it our mini split turns into a water fall. Thank you Sir for the tip. We’re back in the cooling business.
I appreciate this bud short and accurate I like how u gave choices in different ways to achieve the same goal and once put to the test I fixed my leak in just a couple minutes thank you shop vac ftw!!
Jim, thank you for the tip, I used my vacum at the end of the draining pipe, and ijected compressed air through the pipe in the tray, and it worked great!!1 thank you!!
Bigg thanks did it.. was a pain getting to motor screws with the plugg connectors box next to it.should not that if hanging motor freely make sure put little taape in louver arms otherwise fall out of motor.. but manage to putback together..I also used little drain weasel to go down drainrube found clogged and broke it up.. then put water in drain pan with vinegar and worked out clogg, then took dry vac hook to outside drain tube and pulled suction on it.... and turned on a/c checked outside drain dripping away thanks.
Very helpful. The guys that ran my coolant lines put them under the drain hose which doesn't work so well when the water has to flow up hill. This was a very helpful video on how to get in there without breaking stuff👍
Ok boss.... GREAT job in getting this on video!!..... YOU seem to be the man to ask this question. I bought a hybrid mini split unit and I REALLY love it!!.... It runs on 4 large solar panels here in AZ all day long without flinching without even any inverter, batteries or anything. Just run your PV wires to the AC unit and plug them in. It uses solar as the primary, then when the sun starts going down, it starts easing on the grid power little by little. FREE electricity during the day! ..... OK, my question is, Is there a function that turns OFF the water collection process? There's an app that goes with the AC unit that's pretty robust. Not too sure if I'm doing something that has made the condensation from collecting all the sudden. When I first installed it and turned it on, there was quite a bit of water coming out of the tube, now, not so much. Thoughts?
I’m guessing when you first started the AC the humidity level in your house was higher. Now that the humidity level is low, you will only get a small drip out of the condensate line. Should be ok thanks for watching
So far I cleaned my filters and vacuumed the condensate line. Nothing sucked out of the line when I used the shop vac. My mitsubishi minisplit is 6 months new, so I don't understand how it would have gotten so clogged. I've begun taking it apart as per your instructions and see if I can blow it out from inside. I hope I get put all the parts back when I'm finished!!
@@DIYJIM your instructions are very clear and gave me the confidence to attempt this project. However. I have a recent model mitsubishi minisplit and the cover is designed differently. It doesn't have the clips to release the louvers. I can't see how to remove them. I tried removing the front cover entirely, with the louvers attached,, but the lower left corner won't budge. I don't see a screw there. Don't want to force it and break the cover.😪
@@DIYJIM I'll be subscribed to your blog. If ever you come across a Mitsubishi 1800 btu model for demo, I'll follow that. You are an excellent teacher. Thank you!
Extremely helpful video, my unit was slightly different a few more annoying little screws on the louver motors which I had on both sides not just one but overall the video helped me out.
Excellent work, Jim! I certainly appreciate your editing and concise approach. I woke to water dripping setting off some panic but your videos kept me "calm in crisis". kudos!
Thanks a lot for the vid! I have a strange problem with my indoor unit. The catch pan as well ad the condensate line is clear and working. The unit is also cooling but it is leaking on the flaps and drops on the floor. Do you have an idea what a rootcause could be? Could this be a problem with the refrigent level or pressure? The AC unit is clean. Thanks a lot!
Sorry really not sure, I would have said maybe it needs a cleaning but you said it is clean. Maybe once the humidity in your house levels off it will not make as much condensate, and stop dripping.
Ive had to vac mine everyday for the past week suddenly. All the sudden it's been pouring out around the drain pan. First time its done this in 5 years. Had some clogs before but this is really something. Usually check occasionally just getting a gentle siphon action with a hand held vac.
@@DIYJIM trying to save some money & doing it myself right now. Ive been having a company service it once a year. In fact they were scheduled to be out this week & cancelled but I'm ready to take it apart right now.
Maybe the mounting bracket behind the unit needs adjustment. Not sure how you are going to do this without an AC technician. Hope you get it figured out.
I remove the inside unit, disassemble it and clean before reassembling. Just did it last month. The compressor will pump all the refrigerant into the outside unit then I close the valves. The amount of refrigerant lost is minimal. My unit is on an inside wall so I had to run a condensate line through 3/4 inch pvc pipe to a nearby wall. Once an iguana got stuck in there and died so i made a cover to keep future reptiles out.
Tumbs up for the directions to put the drain pan back in and showing it being done. All other vids skip it like its the easiest thing, to me was harder than removing the fan.
