I never understood this wave of hatred towards the 75-300mm! Its only fault in my opinion is that sometimes on certain occasions it shows some chromatic abberations, and maybe it doesn't have stabilization, but that's it! I use this lens for close-up photography, very quickly for wildlife photography, even at 5.6 it can produce good bokeh! It's a very good zoom for people who don't want to specialize in wildlifephotography, but who would like to have access to the 300mm focal length inexpensively ! With its minimum distance of 1.5m, it can be used as a good close-up lens without scaring away insects. In reality it is a versatile lens which allows you to vary the subjects unlike the 100mm 2.8 macro which is specialized! For close-up photographers, i recommand that lens, the 75-300mm to capture butterflies and dragonflies, any insects fleeing as soon as your approach.
Hi! I have a white EOS M that I got as a gift. I also have the efm-ef adapter. Do you think the 75-300 will work ok on that camera for some wildlife safari photos? Any suggestion on what I should use as settings as I am clueless. Thanks.
I have the 75-300mm III lens right now and Im looking for an alternative (no budget to be honest but I prefer buying a used one). I am also thinking of buying the 1.4x II after I buy the lens (used prob). I mostly do planespotting with the 75-300 but Im looking forward to do bird spotting (and other stuff) in the summer. Could you suggest something?
Just saw that your recommendation on the sigma 120-400 and 150-500 so Ima try to find some used but still do you recommend the 1.4x II for the sigma's? (Im also doing contrailspotting which is basically the photo you got at 3:33 so zoom is crucial)
Hi! I’m looking for a telephoto alternative but I’m in a sort-of-tight budget here, any recommendations? (luckily I saw some opinions after purchasing the 75-300 everyone criticizes) I’m using a Rebel T7 if that matters! Thank you and excellent video!
I got this lens a long time ago as I did not know what to get. I have a Canon Rebel EOS T5i. What lens do you recommend for shooting sports like baseball or volleyball?
@@too_many_cameras budget is open at the moment and i have been looking at the "EF70-200mm F2.8L IS III USM Optical Telephoto Zoom Lens" which is around 2,000usd... this the one you are talking about? I also plan to upgrade the camera base if needed to, is the Canon EOS R5 a good replacement ?
That's a good lens and the Mark II is just as good. R5 is definitely a great camera although an expensive one. There might be good sales right now as the R5 Mark II is right around the corner
I'm getting one tomorrow for £60, I'm cropped so I can easily keep it at 200, it will probs only be used on a tripod, 12 years ago I was shooting a 24 105 L and a 70 200 F4 no IS, only spent £120 for a 100d with the 18 to 135 IS which is a bloody good lens it's a shame it couldn't of been f4 all through, I use it an awful lot at F11 to F22 when doing wild life, I cannot afford the 100mm F2.8 L macro so I have been scoping the Tamron 90mm or the Canon 60mm and of course I have the 50 ii usm lol. I'm having more fun nailing good photos than I ever did with Lenses 6ds and 7ds plus L glass, of course when finances allow I will grab another 70 200 F4 IS this time, but the 24 105 doesn't do anything better than a 18 to 135 And who has images printed at 12ft x 8ft, the printers are not going to change there DPI just because it got taken at a higher Res, my pro print shop/warehouse (they do the huge advertising images) and my images are printed at 271dpi on the textured matt paper, hate gloss, they do another matt paper that's a little more expensive but we are talking 25p instead of 17p on a 7" x 5" I get all my good shots printed, a 12" x 8" is only 50p and you cannot complain at that. Anyway I will comment tomorrow night about my experience with it as I only got to take it round the shopping centre for 15mins, the guys know me and my address so I'm hardly going to steal, obviously they are not going to let me go out with a stupidly expensive lens incase I drop it or it gets stolen. But honestly I get such a better buzz of nailing something with budget gear than I ever did with premium, as it's sort of expected. Tah for listening to my BS

It made those otters look like birds. Wow!
Thanks for the test ! Nice pics as always. This lens is often for sale on second hand websites, so I was curious.

it will surely work if you have the adapter

If you have around 600€ you can get the 150-600mm Sigma used. I wouldn't recommend a 1.4x teleconverter for either of the Sigmas you listed
@@too_many_cameras alright thanks I will check it out

55-250mm IS STM
I got this lens a long time ago as I did not know what to get. I have a Canon Rebel EOS T5i. What lens do you recommend for shooting sports like baseball or volleyball?
You didn't mention the budget but EF-S 55-250mm IS STM is pretty good. Even better choice would be one of the 70-200mm f/2.8's from Canon

Is the 55-200 STM a better lens?
Absolutely
Aww i wanted to buy a affordable lens for my canon eos 550d for bird photography, but i think the lens is not bad at all. Thank you for sharing.
If it still matters: Get the 55 - 250 mm STM. ;-)
its nice on budget
Nice video. By any chance, are you Norwegian ? The outdoors in your video looks like Norway
It does look soft. Interesting video.
Yeah not a keeper for me this lens. But it's cheap, has reach and is very light. How you been John?
Thank you!

No Image istbilization. I bought it and returned it.
I use it on my elan 2 only and it’s good for that analog stuff.
