I really enjoy working from home, quarantine gave me such opportunity for the first time in my life. I've understood how much I hate go to the office during rush hours 🙄 I have 7 years of work experience, so I can feel the difference

Big question: How do you find meaning in what you are doing?
Personally, I have to decide between medicine and maths ATM. The first one seems more "meaningful" - yet, this sounds so cliché that it also could be a pitfall. Is there meaning in studying maths / working in consulting?

There are many career options with maths where you can have an impact, although I would say literally saving lives is hard to beat when it comes to meaningful careers!
If you want the best of both worlds, maths has medical applications- mathematical models are used in epidemiology, clinical trials, medical image analysis to assist diagnosis, etc.
      Hope that helps!

I would say go with medicine, don't think of it as locking into the career, but rather a step to the next target. And you want to make that step as impactful as possible. As someone who had a similar options and got forced into a 'maths' option, the medical degree would have opened more opportunities. Maybe instead do an intercalated degree with a lot of application from the math discipline you'd be interested in. You'd still be able to get into any Math career you want, but medical careers are reserved for medical graduates. Just some cents from me... choose the one you think you'll excel in most, the one you find most interesting. 3-6 years is long when you have assessments every other month. If you're brave and really want a good life, try doing an apprenticeship first, figure out what type of working environment you like. Literally, there's no rush.

Medicine is best, math is just a risky degree many people end up becoming a school teacher. For consulting, business degree is always a perfect choice basically consulting itself part of business management.

Hi Claire. I'm a mathematics student going into my final year of an integrated masters degree. I was wondering if you had any advice for managing my time and study tips for this final year? I have never written a dissertation (or any long piece of writing really) so I don't know what to expect from the dissertation module. And I have heard that the masters year is much more difficult than previous years so I was hoping that you could give me some tips or direct me to a video of yours that might help?
Love your videos and thanks in advance :)
