But flying that close to a tree without looking at the drone where it is flying is difficult and dangerous. With dual operator, the pilot flying can concentrate purely on flying the drone. The other guy can control the camera, focus, aperture, direction, zoom and at the same time think about composition without worrying about crashing the drone. So I would forget the word "easily" from this sentence.

The advantages to the inspire are far and beyond what you could get with a Mavic or Phantom.
Framing is benefited by superior motion ability
Dynamic Range and BOCA supplied by the X5R camera and olympus lenses
Footage is much more steady due to aircraft weight as well, much more like heli footage than mavic footage.

Still love flying the Inspire 1. This and the Mini 2 are the perfect combination.
The Mini 2 can be flown everywhere but no chance following an object that to does not go in a straight line. The Inspire 1 in dual operator mode allows for that. Just wish DJI would provide an updated camera to make enough of a difference.
Just imagine DJI would have kept the I1 in store, as a 1500USD system. More than enough space between a Mavic and the I2.

We bought 2 Inspire 1 V2.0 units about 12 months ago. One sits idle as a backup unit, the other we use the Remote that came with that one, as a Camera remote for the Unit we DO use. each unit was only $1500 each as REfurb units via Kogan. SO that means 2 Remotes, 2 Batteries, and 2 units for $3000AUD. Then an extra $300 a few months later for the TB48 battery - so we get roughly 45 min in the air on a shoot, or longer if we charge batteries on site.
Also predominately I control camera as a single operator - it's pretty easy with the Inspire, and I still enjoy the Smooth yet fast capabilities of the Inspire even over the Mavic 2 Pro. It just gives such a beautiful cinematic picture every time.
Have been debating whether we get an Inspire 2...Just don't want to be dissapointed if it doesn't severely out perform the Inspire 1 - as originally we had anticipated the Mavic 2 Pro would do... :(

The helicopter is getting discontinued and I am discovering inspire 1's propelller this week that seems to be a perfect replacement because all the trend curves show that inspire 1's 13-inch prop is highest in endurance for 250-gram drones and optimal motor weight.

Also, you can fly thermal with the XT, but it is not cheap. It is the fun big drone I cut my teeth on in the industry.

Is the Inspire 1 still good in 2020? Well... yes and no. Overall it is still a great performing drone, performance wise....I think they still rock. Here is why it is a big NO and unfortunately the "no's" out-way the "yes". The drone has been discontinued as of 2020. That means that all of the parts and accessories have become a commodity, including the needed batteries. For now the parts and accessories are not too badly priced. That will change going forward. Batteries I think used to be around $185 ish...? They are now as high as $300 everywhere you look.; ebay, Amazon. Normal retailers don't have them. Some other parts and accessories are doing the same thing. I wouldn't pay $300 for a battery. Myself, I like to have more batteries then I need, at least 5 to 6 per drone. I wanted to go a head and put an I-1 together for fun and maybe a few other things but the battery cost make it too costly now and not worth it. They are great birds, but very quickly becoming a dead bird as well... your call...

Uhm what kind of pro photography are you doing exactly?
I recently tried to re-edit some early portrait work I did with my 1100D when I first started out and it was unbelievably bad haha
The colours were terrible, there was no dynamic range, meaning the highlights within the face were completely blown and the blacks were crushed and incredibly noisy in the blacks ...
this resulted in like red blotches in the shadows, yellows and greens in the highlights - the skin was patchy like a cow haha
A lot of that are of course technical error. I could’ve maybe put the lights closer (?) to get more out of the 30$ speedlites or maybe I didn’t crank them all the way up. Who knows it’s been years haha.
yes, I did do my first gigs with that. Thank god I didn’t charge a lot for it in my arrogance.
But I wouldn’t go near any of that ever again. Especially not for professional work.
I just noticed my profile picture on here, I took with that 1100D haha.
I’m really interested to see what work you managed to pull out of that entry-level body. Any website or instagram?

I was robbed two times this year. 8 months apart people getting in my car. Cops were on the spot 4 minutes later. Had him in the woods but he got away because the cops were not willing to track him at 2:00 in the morning. These criminals know that. So I've purchased an inspire one and now I want to be able to as soon as my driveway alarm catches him in my car instead of watching him run away in dark clothing with a gun. I can send the drone up and thermally track him and inform the cops in live time just where he's at and get that son of a b**** in jail where he belongs. Problem I think I'm going to have a problem affording a thermal camera and I realized when I first flew the drone that I'm not sure I'm capable of operating the drone and the thermal camera at the same time with one control and following somebody on the ground. Right now it seems amazingly difficult to the point of not even trying it. I wish there was some way I could throw it up in the air and get it on the person and then hit a button and have it automatically track and stay with him. But I guess I probably don't have that much money. Lol

    Hello,
I'm currently looking to a pretty good deal on Inspire 1 x5. I also have mavic air 2. Could someone answer a couple of questions of mine? I would really appreciate it
    1. You can control the aperture during flight, yes?
    2. What about zoom? (If it's Olympus 14-42 for example)
    3. Can you change focus during flight?
    4. Can you fly this drone alone, without second operator?
    5. Are there any safety sensors like newer drones have?
    6. Are there any 1.4 MFT lenses supported?
    7. Finally, if someone would be kind enough to share with me a raw video file at max settings and my colleague could try to colour grade it, that would be wonderful.
    Thanks a lot!

Q1-4 yes. Q5 nope. Q6 yep 15mm, 12mm, 45mm are all officially supported. There's a hack for the 40-150 a few people did back in the day and the Laowa 7.5mm works (nb There's a drone version and std version. The drone one is lighter.) Q7 soz man, i only have the X5 non raw versions.

Full disclosure, I didn't 'dislike', but I took the title a little more seriously than I should have. I'm guessing the dislikers didn't expect 20yo 'kids' playing with a new toy. The goofy laughing and the tension between the drone owner and they rest of the guys was palpable. They didn't really know what they were doing, but having fun. I think someone looking at an Inspire (over much better and much more affordable DJI prosumer drones of 2020+) are looking for a more professional opinion about viability of the Inspire 1 platform, given the scarcity and absurd cost of batteries, cost of parts, etc. Just my 2c.

I just bought an Inspire 1 for $270 USD. Seemed like an absolute bargin. It came with 5 batteries, range extender, carbon props and a huge travel case allowing for it to stay standing up. Seems like a great drone so far.

Only Problem: Batteries! They are discontinued and not available anywhere!!! I had 4 Inspires and had to sell them just because of that.. Best drone ever made in my opinion! DJI just pulls the plug on still perfectly functioning machines just to promote their new products.. I do not think it's fair after we spend thousands of $$$$$$ on them, extras, accessories etc.. Unfortunately, they dominate the market and we still run after the newest gadgets produced by them because of built quality and many other things.

LOL, Noticed the Props on the Inspire 3 will pretty much be same as on the 1.
Really a shame that DJI doesn't seem to think the noise is a problem.
I'd bet money that a slightly more sophisticated shape would make it sound less like an airborne weed-wacker.

Inspire 2 isn't even close to 20k. More like 8-10k with extra batteries, case, 2nd controller, etc. I'm SHOCKED this dude paid 2800 for an Inspire 1 kit. Wow. I sold mine a few years back for $1500 or so, and I thought it was a win for me. Geez.

What funny timing for this video to come out. I was just looking into the old Inspire 1 as I recently got my drone license from Transport Canada. My thinking is with the new drone laws that were passed a couple years ago in Canada making the world of aerial photography/cinematography a lot less accessible, those few with their licenses will be in a lot higher demand, meaning the investment should pay for itself rather quickly.

Interesting video guys. While I've seen the Inspire 1 (even got to fly it for about one battery worth of time), was unaware of the two controller function. Find that really awesome. Like the idea of one person flying, while the other person does the camera work.
I've seen that type of set up with professional LARGER drones (six blades), but find it interesting the Inspire will do the same.
No... not running out to buy an Inspire. My 2Pro will be just fine for years to come. (Need to continue to practice my manual cinematic movements.... Practice.... Practice.... Practice)
    Keep up the good work.
