Good discussion! Long-time Ork player (started in 'Ere We Go. . . ), and more into semi-comp/casual games than tournaments. I think the only thing I disagreed with in your narrative was the throw-away comment that the Waaagh! won't matter as much for Kult of Speed lists. Acknowledging they're not burning up the meta right now (and probably won't without some help), it's the list I've been running both b/c I've been doing fast moving Orks for a while now and b/c I wanted to see how our "worst" detachment does. My (limited) experience so far is that while their rules give you move/shoot/Secondary buffs primarily, you really do still need to take a mix of non-SpeedFreek ork units (MANz, Nobz, Boyz, etc) to be successful (your point about needing to score big on Primaries), and because of that the Waaagh! turn is still just as important for that detachment as the others. Where it does change is with regard to the ranges you talked about; if you're going hard on Warbikers (especially led by Wartrikes), then your threat range for an early Waaagh! that can hit multiple targets is much better. That threat is also good even if not realized, as it means wary players will potentially sacrifice some of their early VPs to avoid being on the receiving end of that.
@@B__C__ Yeah, they obviously didn't consult me on that lol. I do think overall the strats those dets did get are still very flavorful, though. TBH I kinda don't like how Armor of Contempt is common across dets in SM; I feel like if you're going to have the Det concept then it's important to not repeat things.
Thank you for at least addressing _the Big Silent G_ in the room. 😉 For me, it is about as annoying as someone describing their 'night at the ballet' with the T-sound at the end of 'ballet'. ("Oh yeah? Who did you vote for?")
No G in Waaaaaaaaghh!

How did Kult of Speed (and maybe Dread Mob too) not get Careen as a stratagem?
