    Victoria, I am not, nor will I ever be (too old in life now) a professional singer. But that doesn't stop me from enjoying your videos and singing along with you. You always make me smile with your down to earth teaching style...I even crack a giggle every now and again. But isn't having fun what singing is all about? I treasure every one of your videos and my singing ability is improving, even if only for myself as I clean my house. Thank you. 🙂

    Single best video I've ever heard on vowel modification. Very well explained. I believe you are right. If you feel what's happening in your throat as you sing you can tell when the spoken vowel production starts to interfere with your singing and how gradually adjusting the vowel keeps it easy. Or easier, perhaps. Really worth listening to this one!

    Question: The concept about thinking “a bit taller space as the singer goes up in pitch and the vowel modifies itself” … do you have a video on how this is done? Or could you please explain it a little bit more… when thinking a bit taller space does that include raising the larynx? Is there another term for this concept? Thank you so much Victoria for your entertaining way of learning!

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do explain this in a few videos but I don’t know which ones. “Taller space” refers to more yawn, higher soft palate, in the back of the throat, but how much depends on what style you are singing. No, it does not mean higher larynx. I will make a video on this.

    • @mrjj-s6e
      @mrjj-s6e 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for responding Victoia! It seems knowing how to make a ''taller space'' would be a lot easier than figuring out vowel modifications.

    Interesting about not distorting vowels.. Tori Amos is one of the only people I can think of that deliberately distorts vowels and has made it a stylistic choice (and is so good she can get away with it). But agree it’s better for most people to stick to just subtle mods. Great video!

    I find vowel modification very hard. I'm currently learning mixed voice and do a lot of vowel slides/glides from bottom to top and back to the bottom. So when I do AH and go higher and turn it into an UH for example, I still crack in my break area. Is it also okay to just sing and do slides without vowel modification? If I just practice the AH vowel slide and go higher and keep it like an AH and keep practicing this, I will get a stable mixed voice without vowel modification right???

    Victoria, I am sure that your techniek is very good (and all exercise , I don’t believe , I am Sure and ( this is my opinion). When we practice them correctly because, if you sign because you sign ( mechanic) and don’t use your hart, fillings , emotions then, ( again my opinion) better you stop singing ( you the person how just sign to sign ( mechanic) in place your song must be like a singing story , feel what you sign and make the people behind you listen , not to just a song but a singing story, take them in a journey with your song and make them feel what you sign )because you will never succeed .
    Sometimes also a professional singer make one or two mistakes when they sign a song but when you listen to the song and you automatically imagine yourself in the story of this song you don’t hear everything, all the notes (or if you hear don’t meter so much, unless it is a Very Very big singing mistake note because this will stop you from dreaming the story from the song . If you like a song very very much you get like chicken skin, this meen that you feel not only listen this song, the person how sing this song use not only his or her voice but also fillings and when they do it write everybody how listen to this song can feel also and enjoy!
    I say all this because I hope that everyone understand that you, Victoria, are a very beautiful person inside and outside, very beautiful voice, a very good teacher with a lot of experience, make all this exercises to like so easy ( there are also when you do them correctly , it comes with the time because it is impossible to get it in one day or one week), you take all the time necessary to explain very clear everything ( on TH-cam the most of the singing teachers they let you see very little from a lesson, maybe 30-40% ,like this one from today) and if you want to complete the lesson you need to go to the website and pay for it but you finish your lesson free and if people want to buy your exercise program ( they should because you play piano and we can exercise professionally all day and all night one year, if you want with a very little amount of money), I can feel that you do everything with your hart, it is your passion, not just present a new lesson so mechanically ( sing la la la….. and say thank you for your time when the lesson is finished , special because it is free ) , no I can feel that you care for what you do ! I can not understand when somebody says “ I think you are write “ or “ this one is the best exercise “ ! I find all your exercises very good , everyone of it is about something else , what we need to learn to sign correct so , you can not compare them ( this one is better than thy other one) .
    Sorry that I write a very long reaction but sometimes I get so angry when I read what some other’s people write. I think the we better listen to a professional and let uit the judgment and personal opinion, keep it for yourself because we are the students ( if not look for a better teacher but I don’t think you will find !!!!! ).
    LOVLEY EXERCISE I THINK IT IS VERY HELPFUL ( LIKE ALL OF THE OTHER EXERCISES FROM YOU) ,
    THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH VICTORIA !!!!!!!

      @@Victoria-Victorious I think you just speak clearly and dynamically, and you use consistent vocabulary for the many aspects of singing. It is wonderful for teaching! The speaking makes the videos very easy for one to follow without missing crucial information, because of the clarity and the emphatic delivery on key words and phrases. Beyond that, the consistency of how techniques, sensations, concepts etc. are described allows one to watch a ton of these videos and build up their own consistent understanding of singing. It has helped me immensely!
      To me, you are a better teacher than some of the other very talented singers on TH-cam who have flashier videos. Your channel seems to give me the most condensed information that is easily internalized and easily applied.
