Might be time to bite the bullet on this. Wireguard would be awesome natively
Do you know if the ERLite-3 and ER-4 will be still supported? I'm still using ERLite-3 and I need to move to something small but faster, so I was considering moving to ER-4. I just wandering if these will be supported.
the link takes you to the V3 rc version and has files for both of those. The Jump in performance between those 2 is fairly large so the ER-4 would be a nice upgrade from the ERLite-3 if you are fully utilizing the current device. Some of the new features need more juice and the ER4 should have no issues with any of it. Seems the support for these devices will still be going for much longer which is amazing to be honest. I dont recall if you can just use the config from the ERLite-3 and just load it on the ER-4 but I have a feeling it would work as long as they both on the same source version. Good luck and see how you go with everything.
@@beyondcloudtechnology Thanks mate. Moving to ER-4 should not be problematic as I have cli commands ready to replicate my current configuration. I'm thinkig moving to the new model by February next year.
Any thing for thr ERPoe-5 edgerouter please or should i throw them.
hmm. i thought i had replied to this already. on the post there is a link to the V3 RC and on there there is a file for that device. I dont recall if the ERPoe5 was 24v poe only if yes then it limited its usability these days but I would keep it. I am kinda a horder of these things but lucky they are all fairly small so they stack easily.
I just relized that you need to log in and be enabled for early access to see the post. Here is the list of devices and I will update the comment section as well "ER-X, ER-10X, ER-X-SFP,EP-R6,ERLite-3,ERPoe-5,ER-8, ERPro-8,EP-R8,ER-4, ER-6P, ER-12,ER-12P,ER-8-XG"
Thankyou manged to update 2 erp-5 edgerouters.
Guys noob question here.
Im just getting into network stuff and so everything is new to me so dont laugh too much.
I have edge router as my router, i have it setup all nice and fine, as i needed, but i have unifi ap as my aps for wifi. They work okay for my private network.
I have setup some more networks on my edge router. I have guest network and my homelab network. Can I use aps that are in private network to create wifi network that will work with my guest and homelab networks that i setup on my edge x? I know this may sound dumn, but im at this level now 🤷😅.
So far I could add additional network with my unifi aps, but it looks like they are going just to be vlans of my home network, so i cannot make unifi aps „add” wifi to my separated edge x networks (homelab and guest networks are separated)?
I am not sure I trully understand what you mean. You might be trying to setup different networks in which case you need to make a new interface (vlan) from memory, then make a dhcp scope and link it to the interface. make sure to use the same vlan id in edge router & in the unifi controller else it will not work. Also keep in mind that if you useing an unmanaged switch between the edge router and wifi ap's it might not work as they are unlikely to pass on the vlan tag's
Hey. Thanks for quick answer.
What I think I need is just additional, separated network, which may work only by wifi - for guests internet access and my IoT devices.
I have, besides edge router and unifi ap, unifi switch 16 lite poe.
I will give it a try. So far it didnt work too well, I has some weird outcomes. Like my phone getting weird IP when I tried to connect to the extra network, but I would not get the internet access. I suppose it comes down to edge router configuration. Seems doable, but Im not there.
I have another question. In my homelab i try new things with proxmox. I wanted to use it for little project of mine, which requires external access to ubuntu VM. I wanted to add additional adapter to the hypervisor machine, so new ubuntu vm would connect on separate network. However i cannot setup secondary gateway on proxmox. Am I missing something or it is designed in a wat I have to use vlans, and using just secondary adapter to connect to secondary edge router interface which has different network setup.
