Thank you. I think I though or vocalized the work Finally in the video when I was gaffing the Yellowtail. have never had a spell. this long between large Yellowtail.
Well sure and glad i watched towards the end because the title of the video doesn't give any indication of the massive fish and super excitement here. Congratulations 🎉,,! Yee haw😮 awesome fish
That one was definitely worth the price of admission. I felt like I was right beside you trying to give you a 3rd arm to gaff with. Awesome video thanks!
@DwightPerkins-i7t That's why I keep going, time and time again. They say " The tug is the drug" I beleive it, because after the first 30+ lb'r on a Kayak, I was hooked on LJ Homeguard Yellowtail. The rest is by-catch and sometimes some also go home with me. I get a huge rush feeling their power, hearing the drag screaming and sometimes it pulling even harder you almost loose the grip on the rod. There's only one other I trying for on rhe Solo Skiff and they might be getting close enough soon, Tuna.
@@markr9312 I follow Adam on Die Hard fishing and he's been towed by some big fish and I figure he'll get one in that yellow yak before long. I look forward to seeing you get a tunie because I'll be living it with you for sure. Keep em coming 👍👍
Thanks Dan. I saw on Mikeys last premier chat, that you were the one that took his picture with his LJ Yellowtail. It was like. 3-4 lbs bigger than mine. I liked Mikey using a little bass fisherman's trick, with a little arm extension. It, like mine had big shoulder, but at least mine had very little in it's digestion system. It seemed odd with all the bait around.
Nice job Mark, DTX gets the job done!! Cant wait to get after it this Saturday. Hope to bump into you again on the water, keep those lines tight my brother 😎
Thanks, sometimes it gets hard and it's too easy to give up. The best thing, is time on the water, it has so many healing properties for your state of mind.
It was on a Nomad DTX 100 Sardine. I found out it's listed under fresh water lures. I wanted a smaller lure to cast or troll for large predators with good action at lower speeds, fish that often want small bait. The hooks it comes with are light, so I replaced them with just a little bit larger VMC 4X Treble hooks. As you can see at the gaff the front one came off. It was still in the Yellowtail's lip and comes off at the moment I gaffed it. I guess, it was my fault for not replcing the circle rings it came with they were not strong enough and streched under the heavy. pulls. When I got home, I replaced the circle rings with some slightly larger and stronger ones. The DTX lure has even better action at lower speeds than the larger ones and there is much less line pressure when trolling.
@markr9312 thanks Mark, it looked bigger than a 100 on camera, which is why I assumed MadMac. I'm gonna try trolling a dtx minnow from my kayak next time out.
Congratulations! Did you get the Solo Skiff through Mikey? Those Yellows like to "rock you" if they can. I'm your newest Subscriber! I'm looking forward to your future adventures! Troll Hard, be safe.
No, Mikey was not the Local dealer back in 2020. OEX San Diego used to be local dealer back then. I've know Mikey, since black in 2013-2014 both of us fishing out of paddle Kayaks and chancing LJ Yellowtail even back then.
Not in the last few weeks. I've been keeping an eye on the fishing counts and the surf and wind forecast and was not excited enough, to put up with the May grey June gloom. Likely Wednesday or Thursday.
Finally Mark, the catch of the year. I've been watching your videos for awhile now. It Finally payed off. I'm so excited for you.

Awesome blessing from the jewel. Enjoy

Thanks, yes I didn't want to make it the focal point. I thought it would be more of a pleasant surprise to have the fish fight come unannounced.
Congratulations sir. I’ve been watching for months and praying you would catch one this time. That is absolutely awesome. Congratulations.🎉❤
Thank you steveduncan131. It's great to feel that power on the end of the fishing rod again.
Yeah!!!! Nice Mark. I am super stoked for you brother!

Thank You. TightLines!
That looks like it’s a lot fun. Good job
All the hard work put in searching, is worth it when you get the chance to have that connection with a trophy fish like a LJ Yellowtail. Tight Lines!
WOW so happy to see you got on em! Nice one!
Thanks Francois. Tight Lines!
I ran into Mikey at La Jolla last Wednesday and he told me you landed a yellowtail. Congratulations Mark… you definitely worked hard for that one!🎣😃

Thank you Quang, how's the boat going.
Nice mark finally paid off 😅😊
That catch counts more , than a 100+lb tuna caught on a mcsportfing boat
Thank you! 🙂
Great video my man 👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Congratulations 🎉🎈🎊🍾 I told you that you were going to catch a big home guard yellowtail. Now go get a white seabass 😂
Thanks Doug. Yes, you did call it! Tight Lines!
@@markr9312 hello 👋 what time did you hook up to that yellowtail?
@@El_Sueno_ Around 9:35-9:45 am.
good eats
Absolutely, love those LJ Yellowtail fillets.
well done
Thank You!
Congratulations Mark! How many pounds?
I estimated it to be 34-35 lbs. Bled, Gutted and Gills removed, it weighed 29.9 lbs on my digital fish scale.
Hey 👋 Have you been fishing lately?
Not in the last few weeks. I've been keeping an eye on the fishing counts and the surf and wind forecast and was not excited enough, to put up with the May grey June gloom. Likely Wednesday or Thursday.
Good luck 🍀 I see a big fat yellowtail in your future!
@@El_Sueno_ Thank you. Tight Lines!
Hopefully you can get out with me on the El Sueno soon! A little more comfortable vessel than the solo skiff!
@@El_Sueno_ Definitely a lot more deck space and confort. Thanks.
