  • As requested, we performed the "old" intake mod that was semi-popular on the prior generation Yamaha CP3s to see what performance improvements it offered!
    By next weekend, we'll have custom ECU mapping built for just about every combination of the popular exhaust systems with the stock airbox, this airbox mod, AND the DNA Stage 2 intake kit 😎🤘
    Our unbeatable ECU Flashing Service for these bikes is available on our site 👉 2WDW.com 👈 and we ALWAYS flash and return ship ECUs the VERY SAME DAY that we receive them.
    If you have any questions about getting your 4th Gen Yamaha CP3 properly tuned and dialed in, or any modification questions, don't hesitate to email us at support@2wheeldynoworks.com! We are ALWAYS happy to help 😁

    Turns out, a loud motorcycle makes good power. Whodathunk.

    Just picked up a 2023 MT09 SP and bought a racefit growler x full system and also plan on buying the dna stage 2 kit.. would you have a ecu flash for that set up?

    Very cool! Are you going to do an Application on a R1200LC? I have a R1200RS and would like a solid tune.

    What about water ingress? If you cut the air box, or stage 2 DNA, won’t water get in there??

    For the New MT09, Can you custom tune a rider mode to say only 80% of throttle, and keep the acceleration linear?

    Is there a room for enlarging that smaller air box? And would love to here to take about determine how much u can push an engine and why is that always 13:1??? Isnt every engine built different??
    As a professional tuner perspective of course... and thank you for choosing the 09 platform!!!
    One of the most versetile platforms out there & im absoloutly inlove with my old 09sp 2nd gen... wondered what is my restrictions in terms of achiving a lot more horsepower without turbo( cc/bore/fuel injection system etc...) of course while keeping it reliable, healthy and street rideable... (;
    Awesome knowledge brother would to see more of the work behind getting done 💪🏽💪🏽🔥🔥

      13:1 is basically about the ideal ratio that stays safe and makes good power. Running leaner than that can make a small bit more power, but has a much higher risk of damage. Running richer than that typically looses some power.
      But, occasionally an engine will want a little different ratio to make power. A lot of older engines like to run richer because the burn isn’t as efficient for instance.
      Generally the air box size is limited by the tank design and there isn’t space for a bigger air box.

    Cool thanks, I did this mod months ago while waiting for the stage 2. My stage 2 shows up this weekend so it's cool to see there's an actual difference since I ain't got a dyno.

      If u havent tuned yours at all may i ask if the throttle is jerky on the close/open in the 4th gen?? 2nd gen owner if u rode any 2nd gen u would know what im talking about (;

      Sorry don't have a dyno but my bike is equipped with the same tuning hardware so I do all my own tuning with each part change. The on off jerkiness you describe is probably the oem fuel decel cutoff setting that most tuners turn off. The 2nd , 3rd, and 4th gens are all going to feel very similar with the same type of tunning applied. Bike is not that different, and Yamaha didn't suddenly change their oem tunning style from one to the next.
      None if these mods are really needed or useful on the street aside from an actual ecu flash. But there's nothing wrong with wanting mods because you like to mod.

    How is the sound under the tank? Is it oke ? Or gets realy loud ?

    Can I just extend the runners from the TB all the way to the front of the fuel tank, right before the head, just extend it with a proper tube, put a filter on the mouth of the runners and make it work? Making the runners longer will promote intake air velocity before it hits the actual TB.
    I really just want to get rid of the airbox because I think it's just to decrease the intake "howl".

    Why std and not SAE ? ,std makes the power figures higher

    Does it affect the air intake sound???

      I didn't notice anything so at the very least it's not substantial.
