Oh, so this is probably from when the inspection cars were sent to Chicago on the Lake Shore Limited to run on the Amtrak Michigan Line, cool! Unfortunately I didn't catch these when they came to Detroit, but hopefully will be able to sometime in the future!
Very curious about the purpose of the last inspection car, the "American View." Is it used to make visual inspection of the tracks (and surrounding areas) along the route?
the last one American View - is really something. for some reason the way the huge window is built in looks much more 'proper' than is usually the case.
Interesting that the visual inspection wagon has a rolling shutter on the inspection window, but that's probably both to avoid vandalism and to dim the lights if no-one is looking out of it
Are these 3 cars permanently coupled? or permanently coupled via paperwork? Curious why they would send overhead catenary car on the Lake Shore. Itls 3rd rail from Penn to near end of Empire tunel, then diesel to chicago. Would Amtrakl do measurements on the operating tracks along the way, (so they can complain to operating railroad to fix their tracks) or were these 3 cars dead-heading to Chicago? (does Amtrak check/maintain the Poughkeepsie-Rensselear segment, or does CSX do the inpections there?
From my perspective, the coaches look like a science class (middle school), and the first one looks like a technology class that got hit by a earthquake. 😆
Look up how it's done on the Channel Tunnel; every inch of every catenary is scanned at regular speed by very hight resolution cameras mounted to a modified car, and computers analyze the video looking for wear and potential faults.
babe wake up, DJ Hammers just uploaded!
What a consist! This has to be one of your best amtrak related catches.

Yes. Some things can only be visually inspected like vegetation growth or how rusty certain infrastructure is getting.
@@ferky123 Makes sense. Thanks for the reply!

An impressive look at Amtrak's Inspection cars!! Thanks DJH Trains.😀😀💚
That's the first time I ever seen an inspection car from Amtrak but it is a great catch.

アムトラックが大爆笑するぐらいものすごく笑っちゃうよ。
I can’t wait to ride on it

Wait. Why would there be a catenary inspection car on the LSL? The Hudson river line isn't electrified except for third rail.

Inside View would be clutch to see
Excellent video! future scale model railroading..🤔 👍✅⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Now that's a railfan window!
I enjoyed video
i saw these when they arrived in chicago
Nice pictures, but a lot of added information about what the cars do, etc. would have made this much more interesting.
Ah, so that's what those inspection cars look like.. On my 18 Lake Shore Limited train rides, I've never seen these.
Nice 😀👍
I caught this train at Penn too! looks like the train is facing the other way though. assuming 716 is leading?
godly Amtrak.
Wasn’t the last ever Budd car. That was CTA car 3200.
To be clear, it's the last mainline railroad car built by Budd. The CTA cars were built later, but those were rapid transit cars.
@@DJHTransport I did see Mainline in the Video . Great catch .

i saw these a few days ago!
What would really be cool is if these cars were model in HO scale.
Not a whole lot of catenary going that way to Chicago; maybe they're being routed to Beech Grove. Anyone know?
Awesome video
how do you get notified for these catches
I’d love to see one day a train that has a car with floor to ceiling windows no separation

The corridor clipper car looks like a cab car
No way and wow they got they got estimation cars on Amtrak 49 yesterday
Nice
Long wait for the money shot @4:21
Why did it take over a minute to leave the station? Is the speed limit that low?
from the front it looks like that tram in hl1 intro.
Cool
I am ready to travel an Amtrak train ride.
Huh, if they only have one Corrider Clipper, I just saw it at the Washington DC station on my way back to NYC last night.
Dual-Mode Chargers in evidence?
the amtrak airo but still upcoming
you're allowed down there to take pics?
Yes, staff usually allow it
Just like Japan's Seven Stars in Kyushu.
Please explain things in your video instead of subtitles. Subtitles are very distracting for the viewer.
What in the great heavens is that.
Woooooooooooo
Вагоны
Too bad Budd doesn't build rail cars anymore.
This video was terrible. Didn’t see what the train cars looked like inside. To see what features were inside.
Вагоны бомбардье ; амтрак мта; алстом sci fi междунароная
