This is really good fun. Joan Alexander is very lively and the kid is great.

Thanks to you I have been able to stumble upon two of the funniest and most interesting TV shows I have ever seen (I am from Spain): What's my Line? and You bet your life.
I am currently going through all the What's my line? shows, and I happen to be precisely in the one with Eleanor Roosevelt (Oct 18, 1953), only so few months after this very show. But, more interestingly, Gene Autry was the MG in the show aired on Oct 4th! Less than 3 months after Steve Allen "wanting to be" him in this The name's the same"!
In your array of channels I have only left one comment before this one, in the "cattle discussion" at the Nelson Eddy (Jun 7, 1953) show, but I most enjoy all those videos, such quality, quantity and fun! And class...

So this is where Robert Q came from. I see him often on What's My Line and hadn't heard of him before. Hadn't heard of this show either. Nice premise.
Robert Q. Lewis and Steve Allen Sr. almost look like twins.

I always enjoyed watching this show on black and white overnight in around 2004. It's obvious that the panel were fed questions during the last segment for comic effect. I remember hearing somewhere that this was a common practice on these types of shows prior to the quiz show scandal.
No. I don't believe that the panel shows were rigged. I think that was a false rumor that was spread by people who were jealous of the panelists's intelligence.
Interesting show. It's funny watching Robert Q Lewis here as opposed to as a panelist on WML. Here it sounds like he's acting and even pronouncing things in a very John Daly like way..

I get so sick and tired of so many jealous people claiming that these game shows are rigged. They are definitely not rigged. I know they aren't because I have an analytical mind when I'm trying to solve a mystery or problem. I'm also very observant. It's quite obvious that the panelists keep asking the same type of questions depending on what game shows they're on.

Never came across this show before. But I have met some non-famous people with famous names: Shirley Jones, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Walters, & Michael Jackson, and though I never met him as far as I know, I was a couple years ahead of "Richard Nixon" in undergrad.
I personally know a woman whose first name begins with the letter "C" and her maiden is "Merchant."
I wonder whatever happened to that show Steve Allen hosted on WNBT from 11:20-12:00. I'm guessing it ended after a short and unsuccessful run.

I wasn't sure what show Robert Q. Lewis was talking about, so I'm glad arm613 looked it up. I do get the joke now about "whatever happened to that show" . . . it became The Tonight Show.

I think it's interesting that the initial "Q" in Robert Q. Lewis's name doesn't stand for anything. I heard Robert Q. Lewis say that once.
He once said it stood for “Quizzical .”

The questioning of "A. Muscle" sounded like it may have been scripted to some extent.

The concept for this program in impractical... They must have run out of subjects.
I didn't realize at first that your comment was about "The Name's The Same" and not about WML, which of course ran for close to 25 years! But "The Name's The Same" actually had a pretty healthy run, considering how constraining you'd think the format should have been-- it ran about four years.
The more I watch these shows, What’s My Line...this one, the more they seemed rigged.
They weren't rigged. The panelists asked very logical questions that the average person would ask when trying to solve a case. You obviously don't have an analytical mind like I do and you're not very observant whatsoever. The panelists on these game shows keep asking the same type of questions.
