How do you plan on staying active after you’re done competing in powerlifting? Will you move to a more hypertrophy training style or maybe even try finding a CADRE of Jiu Jitsu? PS if you’ve never heard of the band gorepig please give them a listen!

Currently filling out the 120s and I feel like the toughest parts are what you said. I used to run a lot and a few months back I tried to run a mile. I did it but it was not a fun experience. But I also find it hard to be comfortable in my body sometimes. I was very skinny before I started lifting and it’s kind of strange being in a position of feeling self conscious of my body fat.

Your team at Calgary Barbell may not be military, but you are qualified and capable of training new members of the community and lead them in the right direction.
How do you manage this cadre? What is the most challenging parts of running this operation and what is the most rewarding part?
    Yours truly, A

As a fellow 120, I can relate to what you're saying about hiking. The last hike I did was in 2021 and I weighed in at 108kg. I still do enjoy walks but a hiking trail is just a safety hazard at this point 😂😂 .....it's like rock becomes loose and the dirt trails all become slippery etc .... harsh

What would you say is the one thing that has kept you going the most in powerlifting over all those years and injuries? For some it might be a cadre of likeminded powerlifters, for others a different hobby which takes their minds off of things.

As you've gone back into raw lifting, your videos make it seem like you lift alone frequently. Do you miss having a cadre when you were doing equipped? Or do you find that you've got a good group you train with while training raw?

Programming question for the Calgary Barbell cadre: How do you programme the transition from volume/hypertrophy blocks to a strength block? Do blocks fade in and out?

Cadre! Just going to keep copy/pasting my questions until you answer them! Lol
How has your love for heavy music played a role in your lifting journey? Have you trained with metal artists? Do your peers enjoy lifting to death metal too? Have you ever considered doing more content with music related stuff (beyond the recommendation reels, which i love btw)?
    Thanks! 🤘

Do you recommend, for an equipped lifter, building their cadre around the gear or their raw lifts? Does this depend on their time in gear previously?

Myself and a cadre are signing up for our first CPU meet in early 2024. I'm a newish lifter and numbers are going up pretty consistently. What's the strategy I should be thinking about in terms of picking weights? Make sure my first lift is really comfortable and then take big jumps up?

I recently heard on Massenomics that you and Jordan Feigenbaum were part of the same cadre. Would you consider a mini-series where you sit on the couch to hang out with people who are/were part of your journey that got you where you are while reminiscing about old times?

To the cadre of powerlifters how do you gain weight with raising BP? Every time I go over 210 lbs my blood pressure goes into hypertension… even going low sodium doesn’t help…. Much love, great channel and insight ❤

When it comes to athlete selection for worlds/euros, germany has a different approach compared to canada. We have a 'fixed' cadre over here for international meets, like an olympic team. If you hit a certain total at nationals, you'll be on a waitlist to join. If you make the team, you have some obligations. For example, you need to visit some seminars and a couple of times a year you need to go to a cadre course, where the athletes train together etc, like a team building thing. What do you think about that system, compared to what you have? Hope i got the translation right lol
