  • In Excel, creating a risk assessment chart (aka impact / probability chart) is fairly easy. All you need is the risk assessment matrix (with a not so large scale) and about fifteen minutes of time. Once finished you can put this into your favorite presentation software (PowerPoint?) and even make this into a template for the future.

    Hi I came across your video because I was looking for a way to have the scattered dots appear as one only, I mean like yours. I was doing the same thing you've done but my chart appears with sets of scattered dots (1 orange for probability/ 1 blue for impact)? How come your's is just one set of it?

    Hi Doug.. cool chart. I like the gradient fill technique. Too bad the data label placements can't separate dynamically when there are multiple pairings of x and y on changing data. I set up the chart using RANDBETWEEN for the x and y values. With every recalc, the pairings were different and so the previously positioned labels crashed into each other. Never the less, a great idea and technique to be used under the right circumstances and conditions. Thanks for sharing. Thumbs up!!

      Hi Wayne Edmondson, thanks for the comment. Yeh, it would be nice if Excel auto-magically separates the labels!

      @@DougHExcel Just a suggestion, you can create additional horizontal and vertical lines with coordinates exactly on 1, 2, 3 and show labels as Low Medium High

      @@luckyeat5499 I like that thought. How would one do this (other than just drawing in the lines with the line tool)?

    Hi Doug! Could you advice how to prepare a company-wide ( different branches ) Risk Matrix ?

      This would usually involve key stakeholders for the workgroups or functions involved. They should be willing to commit some time to the exercise and there's buy in from their leadership. Then it's a process of communicating the goal and value of the exercise.
      Then it's iterating through it. Lot of stuff to consider.

    Hi Doug! How if the probability value is in alphabet - A/B/C ( Unlikely/Likely/Very Likely)

    • @DougHExcel
      @DougHExcel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the time risk assessment in essence is subjective unless you've already got statistical data to refer back to; so explain the reasoning on the A,B,C categorization so it sets expectations with your audience.
