So this happens to me on ALL plugins. I have the settings as you outlined. When i open a plugin window and hold down a note on my computer keyboard thus triggering the virtual keyboard, then i modulate a parameter, then i let go of the key, the note sticks. If i stop modulating the parameter before I let go of the key, the note does not stick. This is annoying since I dont want to be constantly thinking about this when im sound designing, i just want it to work. Any thoughts?
Still haven't solved this problem for me. I've been having the same issue with VSTi s. Checked and unchecked all the options you mentioned. Don't know how to fix it. Edit: I'm using a Mac with Cataline. Since I started using VSTi plugins instead of AUi, the problem seems to go. Hope that helps!
Hi, I have tried a workaround: a custom action with the "Send all notes off..." action + "Transport: Play/Stop". Adding the spacebar as shortcut I've the Transport playback/stop command + the "Send all note off..." forced without using F3. Another similar custom action for toggle recording. Other solutions don't work for me but these custom actions work fine :)
That did the trick for me, thank you! Had been doing the "Send all notes off..." manually so far, but this seems like a harmless way to make it less annoying. It seems like the VST settings in preferences would be doing exactly that, but some plugins just don't play nice I guess.
My settings were already set this way, but I'm still having trouble with stuck notes at times. I'm dealing with MPE midi though, coming from my Linnstrument, so that may be a different issue. It only seems to happen with certain plugins, despite those plugins being fully MPE capable. Very irritating issue.
Thanks for the video. I've never had issues with Reaper until the last year or so (I'm guessing). For a while now I've been plagued with internal MIDI issues in Reaper. For example: 1) notes randomly hang during playback but don't hang the next time I play back, but then hang again in a subsequent playback. 2) when I slice a MIDI pianoroll and then slide the start of one of those pianoroll items to the right (this is in track view), a note tags along for the ride and I have to manually mute or remove it. Very weird. This has been with whatever project I've been working on lately. Could be something I have to submit to the devs. Anyone else been having issues like this one?

Hi i use ableton live 11 , with my arturia keylab mkII 61. Similar things happened. Sometimes especially in daw mode of my arturia midi keyboard. Randomly sending midi notes to ableton, it is weird. Beside this, when i use sliders of mk2 arturia, same kind of sound i can hear, after using sliders, arturia send random notes (signals) extremely often. So i have to restart ableton. Sometimes it never happen for a while. Any one have similar problem , i updated last firmware of arturia keylab mk2 , but it doesnt solved my problem. :((((
been using reaper for about 2 weeks now and if i render with the time selection ending at the end of a midi clip with a midi note ending at that same point then after i close the render window the notes get stuck playing back. have to close reaper and re open it. doesnt matter which VSTi plugin.
Tried everything in settings, everything fine up to one part in song where organ chord hangs and ignores the note-off command and persists the rest of the song. Strange.
Related question - soloing a track sends a note-off on all other tracks. Other DAWs only mute the audio of those other tracks, so that long midi notes on them continue and are still playing when the soloed track is un-soloed. Any way to prevent note-offs from being sent by soloing/muting tracks?
I still get stick notes, especially when switching tracks record on or off while playing. Constant note sticking. The only way to stop it is to re-press the note on my keyboard...but sometimes that doesn't stop it.
I just started learning reaper but unable to do midi because of this stuck note in reasynth..done it all, my configuration is same as you laid out..but getting stuck notes..I am using a yamaha psr340..can't figure it out.. will prolly have to try another daw to know if it's a hardware or software problem
On the subject of MIDI, is there a way to import names of midi notes to the piano roll? I use EzDrummer 2 with the Drumkit from Hell kit (though this is applicable to any kit really) and it's not easy to remember which ones are which when I'm trying to change notes (eg change which crash cymbal I use or switch from open to closed on high-hats), constantly having to refer to a PDF file. If not that would be a great feature to add to Reaper and would make my life much easier.
absolutely. if you look on the 'reaper stash' you'll find MIDI Note Name files that you can import through the MIDI Editor File menu. You can also double-right-click on a note to start naming manually.
I sometimes get an issue when Reaper doesn't seem to recognise a ,,note on'' signal. Mailny when the MIDI note is near the beginning of an item. Ideas?
This can happen if you humanise your item, and the first note is moved to before the item start, you would still see a rectangle, connecting the midi on msg to midi off, but midi on is trimmed out of the item.
Hi! How are you ? I have a doubt I use reaper to play live and when I change the channel while holding a note I do not receive the note off. Is there a way to avoid this?
@@TheREAPERBlog I gotcha. but.. there is no preventing the problem from happening at the moment. I've noticed that (even w/ all settings set properly as you've described) what seems to cause reaper notes to hang is if you stop playback before a held note ends. Of course it doesn't occur every time in every situation but when it does happen that's usually the common thread. Seems to be no way around it.. i created a button on my default tool bar for all notes off, but yeah the kb shortcut is F3. Used often here.

Happens in studio one too it’s very annoying.

Is there a command to overlap notes in the midi editor? I know there's the legato action but it's not enough for me.
If you are running lights with Reaper Midi hardware outputs, then you would select 'Don't send Note-Off's'.
it help me dude. Tq so much
Thanks John!! I was struggling with this for a long time.
Please someone make a video for the Logic Pro version… my stuck note is going crazy when recording midi with my moog sub 25…

thank you for this, I had issues with ANA2, let's see if it persists after applying your settings

the note that stucks, is an issue I often have/had with all daws and not only that: also with just standalone instrument app.

how do I swap the order of midi fragments without completely screwing them up?
Cheers! i still have major issues with Kontact plugins despite following this advice
I just discovered this happens with VST3 version of Kontakt often. VST should be ok

Yes, that's the OTHER issue I've been experiencing! Not idea why though.

I don't think there's any way around that besides using a second keyboard or programming some of the performance.
@@TheREAPERBlog Thank you very much for answering so quickly
don't work( maybe anybodeis know anything else?

trying to prevent the problem from happening.
