    • @tomix3b
      @tomix3b 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Billy Z do you know the turntablist vinyls made to do the ´no fader’ cuts? You raise and drop the needle moving the record not using crossfader and you get cutted sounding tricks. If you do that with a normal vinyl is almost impossible to always drop the needle in the same place and at the moment Craze did the performance turntablist records werent common, so the audience believed craze was doing impossible skills. You know I mean?

    • @djdeemz7651
      @djdeemz7651 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@billmuertos In English - you can buy scratch vinyl that are called skip proof scratch tools because it will have a few scratch samples that loop 20 plus times but the way they are arranged means all the sample are in the same place, typically on a normal say a hip hop beat the sounds will move position with each turn so for example if you imagine the top of the record is a kick drum sound and you say it's 12 o'clock and you let the record spin one turn the next kick won't be at 12 o'clock but will be at the 1 o'clock position the next turn 2 o'clock on a skip proof its always at 12 o'clock in the exactly the same area , if you notice he uses stickers on his vinyl to mark specific points , on a skip proof you don't need the sticker for the accurate cue up of sample you just drop the needle in the area for that sound and it doesn't matter what groove it falls in also this helps with needle skipping at high speeds and also makes needle dropping like craze did possible at the time craze did it skip proofs were just coming out , most of the djs knew aboth them but the crowd didn't so it blew alot of people away . I hope that helps also now there are ultra pitch skip proofs - these are meant to be used with ultra pitch high torque turntables and played at minus 33% this allows for greater record control as the vinyl and platter are moving slowly and you can fit a couple more samples into the loop .

Before it was grabbed by the mainstream, dubstep was a very small scene and was based around only a few nights (DMZ, FWD, etc.) "Come meditatate on bass weight" was DMZ's slogan, and it describes the listening/dancing/social experience perfetly. I remember watching this on back then and what's still incredible was that he did this routine with STANTON 500 CARTRIDGES!! you know how hard that is?! you barely more and those things skipped you had to damn near put a dollar in quarters with the height at 6 for them not to skip

    • @rcayabyab8994
      @rcayabyab8994 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even though Craze was endorsed by Stanton back then, he did use Shure M44-7s in the 99 World Final. But still his hand control on Stanton carts in 98 and 2000 was absolutely impeccable.

    Christ almighty the man even cleans his needle at 'no fader'.

    • @djhyr0
      @djhyr0 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +scarabooshable actually i think he's adjusting the counterweight back to heavy...at 3:21 he set it light so he can get the needle to "jump" when he set the record down on the sample.. needed it back to heavy for the no fader part

    • @scarabooshable
      @scarabooshable 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +djhyr0 kk pal. You're more experienced than me. Cap doffed. just what it looked like.

    • @scarabooshable
      @scarabooshable 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +djhyr0 .....Thanks for correcting me. The technicality blows me away.

    • @djhyr0
      @djhyr0 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +scarabooshable my bad wasn't trying to be smart or anything...just trying to describe what he's doing to acheive a needle jump that actually sounds like a fader click since it doesn't look very obvious or straight forward...but yeah man the technicality blows me away too

    • @scarabooshable
      @scarabooshable 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +djhyr0 no believe me pal, your explanation just made me enjoy it more. Thank you.:-)

    This compared to the 2019 or 2018 set that I just came from. Jeeeezus. Maybe we need to bring actual vinyl back so these guys get back to the roots instead of spazzing out your dexterity over a groove.
