It's simple..if you strike the cue ball dead centre towards the cushion at any angle , the cue ball will bounce off at exactly the same angle this is makes Efren Reyes so good his absolute understanding of angles and he rarely hits the cue ball dead centre...he also adds spin to nearly every shot.

You could also just imagine or use your cue to visualize two parallel lines where the cue ball and the yellow ball are, then split the different on the rear rail. Also, you didn't explain why you would pick that spot by the pocket to double the length of. That would be helpful. That way a person can use this process on entire table.
I like this particular kick system better than others I have seen. I used to try shots like this by "feel" only with some success, but I missed more often than not. I'll be practicing this version next time I am at a pool table. Thank you.

You don't need a 2nd cue for this technique. You simply have to stand on the other side of the cue after you measure the distance from the object ball to the rail. Lean down and get your aiming point on the table.

The "Action" you put on the cue ball is primary. Then, you estimate the vector of the angle.
My grandpa taught me just to envision a mirror right at the edge and aim for the pocket in the mirror
