  • Gale GS401A chrome ended speakers designed by Jon Bannenberg. Rare Gale GT2101 turntable ... featured in Playboy as the sexiest table of the era, owned by famous people such as John Paul Getty, Freddie Mercury, Elton John. Lecson pre and power amps featured in UK Victoria & Albert Museum Design Innovations exhibit and the NY Museum of Modern Art. Musical Fidelity X-Ray CDP which though not of the early era features the same 'push -the-boundaries' and 'think-outside-the-box' design philosophies and happens to share styling cues with the Lecson gear.

I owned a Lecson AC1 and AP1X Power Amp with the Gale GS401A Speakers. Linn Sondek and a Rotel CD player. The Lecson and the Gales look fantastic even now. The system sounded fantastic very musical. Unlike some of the systems around today.

Outstanding system with some of my favourite pieces. Wonderful Gales. Not to mention a well made video.

Thank you Peter. Had just finished up a listening session when the alert came up on my iPhone telling me of your comment! Good timing!

Nice set. The Gale especially. I read with interest the reverse engineering rebuild of the power supply. Mine is still going strong on the original circuitry.

+Lucas Chater Thanks Lucas. Fantastic that yours is still going strong after all these years. Fascinating history and quite far ahead in design and engineering principles for the day. Cheers!

I was recently given a chrome set of gales. I have a funny feeling that my tweeters may not be working, I'm aware that they require quite a bit of power in order to sound right but I still can't hear anything out of the tweeters. Have you ever had any issues like this?

Do a search for "groups.google.com gale-audio" and join them. They will assist.

Hello. It's a nice deck. The video's a bit short.Want to sell her.?p.s. If this was, let's say a comparison video., I should say the vinyl wins hands down.As soon as the music began it became clear that there was a clarity which was lacking in the CD.It definitely sounded as though the musicians were in the room.Plus, and this happens a lot,as I'm sure you are aware, deck and speakers being the same make, compliment one another don't they.Interesting speakers as well.I fell in love with Gale products long ago from the Hi Fi year books of my now deceased Father,God bless him. There wasn't a lot of hi fi he hadn't heard but I don't think he ever had a Gale Turntable. He had some Bowers and Wilkins P2H monitors once, with the ionophane tweeters and numerous Garrard 301s.I'm a valve man myself, and recently restored a lovely old Heathkit S99 amp,cor it wasn't half gorgeous by the time I had done.I decided in the end to pass it on and sold it to someone in China for a mere £250 but I bet he was impressed with the sound.Anyway I'll toddle off now,and if you want a Music or hi fi chat.........best regards.

Thanks Stu. Yes, back when I made the video I didn't think nor know much about video recording, compression, or anything and thought it best to keep it short. Sorry about that. Re selling ..... Unfortunately no, they are like family. The Gale combo of 401A's and GT2102 TT hooked me when still a teenager when I saw them in a magazine, along with the Lecson pre and power amp. I bought the 401A's new back in the late 70's, but it took a while for me to acquire the rest of the gear and restore to near new condition. So sorry, they are all keepers.
