It’s here boys. Massive props to everyone who made this! You are all legends and this is genuinely amazing, everything about it is so cool honestly and let’s not mention at how you made the thing that would never happen actually happen lol
coming back to this tas and seeing the minor differences in some rooms feels so strange, almost like im remembering the map incorrectly then you have the final checkpoints which are SO different from 9D of today that its actually really crazy
I'll be honest, it took until 5 minutes into the video for me to realise it was a TAS. I thought this was just a god gamer. I wasn't even surprised at how good they were tbh, I just assumed that was how good the top tier of Celeste players were. Anybody that even completes 9D is a god in my book. I doubt I could complete even two of these screens
i went into this video not knowing anything about the farewell d-side and roughly 13 minutes in i was like "Oh god they make you do it blind????" and i also thought about how even when you have a TAS going full speed it still takes 50 minutes to go through it all
This is insane. I love watching Madeline phase through spinners without any regards to hitboxes. Massive congratulations to the entire community behind this TAS. I cannot wait for more.
during this entire video my brain was going WHAT the actual fuck am i seeing right now. i mean, this is such a long level that a TAS BOT takes more than half an hour to complete. this must have taken years to program.
@@watchoutforeg I’ll keep the explanation as short as I can. Basically in chapter 5B there’s a speedrunning trick where you move upwards through a screen transition but then fall back through by doing a small jump before you pass through the platform that would prevent you from falling down. The game isn’t prepared for this, and so when you retry the room it puts you at the closest respawn point which happens to skip a bunch of stuff. At the time stamp I highlighted the tas does what I believe is essentially the same thing, and it’s in a section of the level meant to emulate chapter 5.
42:04 something I fail to understand... why in this part of the run does Madeline regain 2 dashes after touching the ground despite not touching a double dash crystal?
I was doing everything I could. What did I do wrong? I can't take this. It hurts too much. You know.. Maybe.. this isn't my fault. Maybe... ..I don't need him..
short answer: there are green bubbles inside the dream blocks on that screen which let you change your dash direction inside the block long answer: normally bubbles snap you to a specific position when you enter them, but that doesn't work with a bubble inside a dream block. the jump to the next dream block doesn't work if we do a down dash into the top of the bubble -- Madeline is too high and just jumps into the spikes -- so we do a downdiag which narrowly avoids the bubble, dash back into the bottom of the bubble, then dash back out and double jump out of the dream block
I haven't played the new version of 9D so I can't really speak for that, but I do know that even though the new level is longer, the TAS is shorter than this one. This project really only ever had 1 or 2 people look at any part, so even without stunning (which skips 7 keys in creation, among smaller timesaves), there's a huge number of new strats and skips that have been found just by having more people look through it. Don't know when the new TAS will be published but it will happen at some point!
the current tas is currently just under 47 minutes long, and includes a ton of insane strats, as well as constant improvements to not only any%, but also other categories such as collecting the Moonberry, collecting the Platinun, doing both of those at once, and getting all 20 berries in the level (17 goldens, moonberry, secret red berry with moonberry, and the platinum berry)

I have a feeling whoever made the TAS of the room at 8:20 got bored and decided to start showing off.
i actually had to redo that room, the spikejumps saved 1.2 sec, but yeah it's mainly just showing off
sucked to TAS lol
14:56 "do that wide-jump thing"
Madeline: you mean this?
46:40 that's how i did this screen casually too
wait that's not the intended route?
I'm smelling a woosh already
I didn’t even realize that there is another way to beat it
I still don't know what the next 2 screens are for, every time I play this, I just skip over them at lightspeed like that
imagine playing the next 2 rooms, couldnt be me
Can’t believe this level is actually longer than any% and chapter 9 combined
for humans, its over 3 times as long
Exactly
20:48 haha madeline goes BRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Lol
If a *TAS* is 47.5 minutes long, just how long does it take NORMAL human beings to finish this deathless?
Idk, I guess around 4 hours, but this level took me literally around 79 to beat it ._.
it's extremely unlikely for humans to beat this deathless

Monika did it
You know that shit is going down when the tas has to PAUSE BUFFER.
oh boy this comment was well timed
7 minutes in and I can already say that the amount of demos is TOO DAMN HIGH... Mind blowing.
The fact that the TAS of a fan map is over 47mins prooves a lot of things about the community

in the commentary for this TAS, it was said that this was optimized to the best of their abilities (can be found on euni's channel page)

You get double dashes when you touch the coin at 42:00, it goes back to normal after you beat the checkpoint
This is awesome. The TAS and the level both.
39:57 this looks like it was a pain in the ass to optimize

Okay, we start with Farewell. Then *summit*. *Then core.*
Then back to Farewell.
*WHICH WAY ARE WE GOING*
Yes, that is a little bit insane
how many spikes jump Madeline do. now i understand why this is a TAS
Wait, do we still look on Madeline that spent 3 days to get to the mountain 's summit?
TAS - Passing through spikes since 2004
but did you try to save all the jellies?
Spikes: exists
Madeline: bonjour
Spikes: does not exist

hitboxes?
whats that

How do mechanics from Celeste mountain work from a light year away tho
Bot just thinks hitboxes are guidelines
Excuse me what was that dreamblock at 11:14 (10:32 igt)
short answer: there are green bubbles inside the dream blocks on that screen which let you change your dash direction inside the block
long answer: normally bubbles snap you to a specific position when you enter them, but that doesn't work with a bubble inside a dream block. the jump to the next dream block doesn't work if we do a down dash into the top of the bubble -- Madeline is too high and just jumps into the spikes -- so we do a downdiag which narrowly avoids the bubble, dash back into the bottom of the bubble, then dash back out and double jump out of the dream block
