There are wayyy too many to fit in the description so I compiled all of them into a google doc!

These supplies are just what I use, none of them are something you NEED to succeed as an artist. Find what works for you and slowly build your arsenal of art supplies !
YAYYYY continuing the 20,000 subscriber celebrations with a sticker giveaway and art supplies tour! In this video I go over every art supply I use most often in my artwork and sketchbook. I'm not too picky and generally like to stick to cheaper supplies and save money for supplies that I really like (aka my acrylic paints). Most of my traditional art is in acrylic or gouache, so the rest of my drawing supplies are pretty minimal, and I hope it shows you that you can create even if you have regular office supplies or beginner grade paints/pencils/markers. You can still make great art with cheaper supplies!

Speaking of having a lot of old art supplies, I can totally relate. Some of my paints I’ve had since middle school/freshman year (I’m entering college now). I also have a few sketchbooks that I started back in 2020 and still haven’t finished 😅 (I don’t like the paper in them so it’s been torture to work in them but I promise I have been) It also doesn’t help when you’re the certified art kid in the family so all anyone gets you is art supplies

Every year for Christmas all I got was color pencils sketchbooks and crayons 😂😂😂 but I loved it I felt seen
By the way, a really simple alternative for the palette at 25:23 is just a ceramic dinner plate 😊 If you want one that lays completely flat, then you can also just get a plain white ceramic floor tile or wall tile at your local hardware store. It'll only cost you like $2-3

For Canadians: Dollarama has really great cheap sketchbooks that will run you $2.50-$4.50 depending on the size.

My friend gifted me one of those Talens sketchbooks earlier this year because I would not stop talking about it after seeing it on your channel. It's currently my favourite sketchbook I've ever had, so if anyone else is thinking about getting one, just do it!

Have you heard the advice to microwave your Prismacolor Premier colored pencils? You stick them in the microwave for no more than a few seconds (like literally 2 or 3 seconds), and that sorta melts the broken lead back together. You probably want to set them aside for a little before using them though, so the lead sets or whatever! It's probably not great to microwave them for much longer than a couple seconds tho, so be careful! :)

For a ceramic palette I just went to a local hardware store and got a single bathroom tile. It was less than a dollar for a fairly large piece, its smooth, solid white and easy to replace if need be. They had a good selection for sizes and even shapes.
Canvas paper is also a great alternative to using canvases and the texture is quite similar! I love seeing what materials different artists like to use ❤

If there’s any Australians here ,you can get pretty cheap supplies from kmart or office works . Bunnings sells decent paints as well .most art stores are very expensive here. Also make sure you take care of your supplies especially if you do get more pricey ones ,make every dollar worth it! Have fun being creative people
I also use the bic mechanical pencils a lot for drawing! I always have one on my desk or in my bag and they just work. I love it!

my favorite art supplies are literally anything near me. i think one of my favorite things is to quit wanting a better product. any pen, crayon, pencil i can find. it makes art feel actually creative again.

Ceramic egg trays work really well as palettes. I bought one from Walmart for $10 a few years ago, it's pretty big, but it gives a lot of deep wells to use with my watercolours/gouache. I've since bought a smaller one too and I use them more than my ceramic palettes that are actually for paint 😂 I know Ross sometimes has some around Easter for a more affordable price

the pentalic traveler 6x8 is litterally my alltime fave sketchbook and any time I come across them i grab a bunch cause I struggle to find them all the time TToTT
honestly I always found that while they wernt perfect i could still use any supply on it, just at most had to be carful to prevent wrinkle or like not putting too much water but hoenstly always worked for me UwU

Congrats on your new subscriber milestones, and thanks for going through your supplies! If you have an IKEA near you, my favorite ceramic palette is actually a partitioned plate found in their dinnerware section. It’s sturdy and so inexpensive (maybe $6?) Also M. Graham’s artist’s gouache is excellent, as is Holbein’s artists’ gouache (probably a lot like what you’re using, but without the acrylic component, so it can be reactivated with water.)

I recently discovered the magic of bound sketchbooks after only using spiral bound sketchbooks for years, and they’re so much nicer since a bunch of my spiral bound ones just fell apart and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to spiral bound sketchbooks after I finish the ones I need to
congrats on 20K! i love looking at what people use in their art practice!
something for beginners is that liquitex basics is good for learning, only this is that the white is very transparent and during my painting class we would go through so much because it's such thin paint. If you're sticking with liquitex basics maybe go to a different brand of white just so it has more weight in mixing colours and using on its own!
synthetic brushes are great for mixed media, but go hogs hair for oil and sable for watercolour if you can, the natural fibers hold water better and for oil they can stand the cleaning chemicals.
a lot of artists (especially if you're in art school) will try to shame you for using certain things like a store brand of paint or only using mechanical pencils, art is supposed to be fun and they've decided that is what makes them enjoy it, it's not the same for everybody! If somebody tries to tell you that drawing anime or fanart or digitally isn't real art then they haven't opened their minds beyond what they learned.
Have fun and don't stress about 'wasting' supplies, they're made to get used!!!

My favorite art supplies are the cheapest, because it makes me feel loose and free with my sketching. I use Crayola colored pencils, crayons, ballpoint pens and the more expensive stuff being Stabilo 88 fineliners and Tombow Fudenosuke and Dual Brush pens 😊😊 my ultimate favorite is the ballpoint pen though because that's what I began with ❤
Not sure if anyone's mentioned it but if you take a prismacolor you've dropped and microwave it for a few seconds at a time for a few times sometimes the core will sort of melt back together! It doesn't always work but sometimes it at least helps a bit!
You need a stay wet palette for your gouache if you wanna use it wet . They can get expensive but they have sone cheap ones on the net but I’ve seen Artist make their own ..

At our drawing school there where random sketchbooks for free, with just a few pages left!! That is my first and current real sketchbook!!
Art creation also has sketchbooks with white paper!! They have covers with patterns/paintings

Lol @ the sketchbook section. 😂 I have so many of those Talens AC ones as they are dirt cheap... I got my large one for 10€ (or even less?) and paid something like $20 for my Pentalic. 😅😅 I just had to have one, love high white thin, smooth paper and soft covers!

For my art supplies I use gambling oil paints,prima-watercolors,random pencils and Color pencils
I’ve been thinking about using these random markers I found but don’t know if I should since I’m so use to painting all the time

I use holbein arylicngouache and tuner arylic gouache wich is a bit cheaper than holbein but that also depens on where you can get it

if you want that talens art creation with white paper there are some. its those with "crazy" covers like the corck one. i dont really like it cause the paper is also more slippery and worse for paints but still good

Great video! Acryla gouache by Holbein is sooo good.
While i totally understand wanting to preserve expensive art stuff, from a person who was in art focused highschool (it exists in my country)and still has a ton of semi professional stuff and received so much leftovers from friends...art supplys expire!!! Expecially wet mediums, they get mould super easy, smell bad and dry out inexpecably, they separete weirdly.acrilics and copics and fineliners and watercolours ecc... once opened up they degrade no matter the price so please use it before you have to trow them away!!!!

Yes, i Just recently was going to use an old varnish and it looked like cottage cheese, i Just don't want young new artists to spend all their Money on something and only get to use It maybe once in fear of wasting it. Whatever you create it's always gonna be worth It.

I even know an incredible digital painter who came from PS and is now primaraly using krita. She enjoyes working with it much more then with photoshop. i never used PS so I cant compare, but I love krita a lot.

21:23 consider super glueing the broken lead back in gorl , then i use sand paper to shave off the glue when it gets there

I feel like you should really really try to do an art residency. you're extremely talented. like museum gallery quality talented. I know you're curious about the art content creator route, but you should also thinking about connecting yourself with that traditional art world to really leap forward in you career.

nmy favorite supplies are karin brushmarkers and himigouache paint i lvoe them to DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i also love color pencils but i think they compliment the gouache way more. im also just fond of using super cheap stuff i find and making do

Right now I work in about 3 (my main one, my figure drawing one, and then my mini travel one) and then my digital sketchbook on my iPad!
So upset that i cant find dark umber ANYWHERE its such a nice color. I found it on amazon but its FOUR dollar delivery and would come om april 1st😭😭😭😭
Do you think getting the screen tablet or IPad would be best if you want to get back into drawing on a new experience like those? I’ve been struggling creating art without an assignment with school and want to venture into my art career starting college. Maybe commissions or twitch streaming?

I would get an iPad if your computer isn’t strong enough to run painting or drawing software. And it’s portable so you can take it to class and use it for note taking!! Make sure to get others opinions and look up comparisons💖

I always try to think of “mess ups” as just attempts and part of the learning process! I use my sketchbooks to experiment and just have fun, not for anything too finished so there’s no pressure. ALSO buying a super cheap sketchbook helps as well! Gets you drawing without worrying about wasting too much paper 💖

I don’t like drawing in my ipad i press to hard I would rather draw ❤ on paper
you can always change the pressure sensitivity on your ipad !! I have the same habit and adjusting the pressure graph really helped me not press as hard.

I actually really love them because of the cheap price and I don’t do a lot of finished work in my sketchbooks. I’m actually about to start another one after I finish my current sketchbook! its great for sketching, and ink, and can handle light watercolor and I’ve even used some gouache in it. I made sure to preface the lower quality paper because I know that some people use their sketchbooks for more heavier duty painting and mixed media and didn’t want them to get disappointed. I think cheaper and lower quality sketchbooks are great because it makes it so much easier to draw without worrying about wasting good paper or money 👍💖 hope this helps to clarify!
