Best fun ever, had a 5th wheel here in Australia, most comfortable way to tour with happy wife and grand daughter. I do miss it. Jamie some of the van weight extra stuff could be moved into the rear cab of the truck, getting it a bit further forward. It is easy to carry too much extra stuff 😊. You could always have a pump setup to transfer water from front to rear and always use the front tank first. Best part stay safe and enjoy. King Charles, best dog ever. Regards Steve.
Hi Jamie and Princess. I have not commented in a while. Glad you guys are doing well. I thought about the RV life before deciding on full time sailing. You guys are showing me what I missed. Or maybe what I have to look forward to one day. Blessings to you both and safe travels.
I fixed my parents fifth wheel when grand design wouldn't. I pulled the nose cone and pulled the exterior wall skins away and re-welded everything and added a ton of reinforcements and gussets. I replaced wood and lag bolts with aluminum plate and grade 8 bolts.
@@SailingLifeonJupiter The root cause of the problem is the sidewall attachment to the upper frame, lippert designed the chassis to essentially be a unibody where the pin box weight is carried up through the side walls so side wall attachment is critical. The side walls are framed with an extruded aluminum channel and wood is slid in to the channel the wall is lag bolted to the frame vertically through the flange on the frame the side wall sits on and horizontally through the frame and with twisting and swaying the lag bolts easily become loose and even fall out. Uneven ground amplifies the problem. All of the cracked welds and other issues are subsequent problems caused by the initial problem of the side wall attachment to the frame. I remove the wood strips that are slid into the extruded aluminum that makes up the side wall frame and I replace it with solid aluminum bar stock and I drill and tap holes and use grade 8 flange bolts. I add gussets and cross bracing wherever I can to help transfer and distribute load. I also use 3m panel bond to bond the aluminum side wall frames to the steel chassis. The repair process used by grand design does nothing to resolve the underlying issue.
I spent a good part of my life before boats managing payload in my truck. In Australia trucks are weighed on the highways and the fines are huge. Try moving your stuff from the front to the back as much as possible. Empty that water tank It makes a big difference. Even supposedly lightweight stuff like clothing and food can add significant weight. Most motor homes and caravans only have a maximum of 500- 1000Ib of payload from leaving the factory, those figures are set on the vehicle before you add any accessories to the vehicle like ladders, batteries, solar panels, washing machines etc. in reality it’s almost impossible to live apartment life on wheels and stay within the weight limit. Be good to see a video if you manage to balance the weight better.
These lyrics are fantastic! It's surprising how much the skills needed for maintaining a boat transfer over to RV maintenance. I do some lake sailing and drive a Class C motorhome (my ‘Land Yacht’).
GVWR is a major problem with these fifth wheels. They are basically at their limit before you add any personal effects. I believe there will be class action lawsuits regarding this matter.
An ATV in the garage would counterbalance the pin weight. As for replacing the Gen Y, I'd rather go Air shocker and replace the bed hitch with a Trailer Saver BD5. We ditched rubber torsion block suspension on transport trucks for air decades ago to smooth out the ride and save equipment, the exception being cheap farmers and logging outfits. The RV industry has a lot of catching up to do.
I think it’s just that the manufacturers advertise these things to be able to carry a payload such as a motorbike or ATV when they have built them so cheaply that they cannot. Like all good business its good marketing and cost cutting!
I just stopped the video right after the song. That is the most beautiful custom song I have ever listened too. WOW! Now back to the video.

You will figure it out.
I will suggest getting a couple of E-bikes as soon as you figure out your wait problem.
Have fun always.

He is already over weight on the rv
Don’t know how much payload you have available but you could transfer some from rv to truck
Ya Bill. We been doing a bit of that! Still gotta lose some tho. Cheers
I don't see how your set-up could be over-weight. There must be something missing in the regulations or the math method needs to
be adjusted.

miss the boat.
Are you selling Jupiter?
Wow… you’ll be surprised as time goes on you’ll start to accumulate items in your unit… the next thing you know… you’re overweight.
A pilot shouldn't need a calculator to do that figurine
