Hi Lesley, thank Clare please as that was brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope the boot sale went well. Blooming hard going through things, so look after you mental health too. Just back from Butlins, had a brilliant week and never spent a penny extra! Went to the circus, a pantomime, a non funny comedian, who died on stage and some amazing singers and dancers. Very polite and hard working staff. Lots of spoiled kids and an shockingly amazing amount of smokers and vapers. We was amazed by the amount of young parents who smoked or vaped. Bed was comfy, room was clean, kettle and plenty supplies. Would definitely go again. Have a fantabulous weekend and week. xxJane 🐑🌼
Thanks Jane - glad you had a good week - it sounds as though you had a great time (some comedians are so bad that it makes them funny!). Shame to see so many vapers - can't believe that there are those who take it up as a hobby, rather than use it as a way to stop smoking. I will never understand people. Take care and thanks again xx
Our Mother passed away the day before Mother’s Day last year. My two sisters and I were packing up and found an envelope in her desk labeled Adoption Papers. Needless to say we were all wide-eyed. Turns out they were for Cabbage Patch Kids. So there is laughter among the tears (Hugs) Lesley.
Your costumes really are fab, love everybody’s unique take on the theme. Makes for quite the visual effect. Hastings looks splendid in the sunshine - how wonderful to have such a long seafront. Kept thinking of Michael Kitchen from ‘Foyle’s War’, love him.
I love Michael Kitchen, too. I also like him in other things - there was a great spoof on Prog Rock, and he played the very sweary manager - so funny. th-cam.com/video/mUyKvuLDVTo/w-d-xo.html Take god care xx
Hi Lesley, how I came to miss last week’s podcast, I can’t even reckon. Glad the water situation has been resolved, as you say it has an impact. It’s rained a lot in recent weeks, one is lucky there aren’t more issues. I hope you’ll have a nice sale this weekend. Take care xx
Thanks Nadine - we had glorious weather for the sale, so there would have been far worse ways of spending it than standing in a field. Hope all is well with you xx
Thanks Louise - it's tough isn't it - it feels like we're dismantling a home (probably because that's what we are doing). Sending massive hugs back to you. Thanks and take very good care xx
Les, thanks for sharing the drumming event!! I love to hear them. I wish there was once when I am in country. That crowd din’;t give you folks much room! I am grateful that your gal was able to get footage that showed you as we mostly see the others. I thought Jack on the Green was a fall event? Thought it was related to Jack Frost coming and ruining the gardens. It must be really fun to participate in these drum offs.
Hi Susan Glad you enjoyed the drumming - it's very much a Sussex thing, so it's not just about being in the UK. Jack in the Green is about releasing the spirit of summer, rather than Jack Frost. The drum offs are a lot of fun, but you are right - not much room! Look forward to seeing you soon xx
just a minute in and I am impressed with the putting on the 'make-up' behind the mirror, as I knew it had to be something unexpected, and it was - enjoy the drumming - I really enjoy your channel
Hi Lesley. The drum off looked fun. Smart move, leaving the car to get a swift getaway. Hope the boot fare goes well. It's hard having to deal with packing away a lifetime of memories. Family weekend for us, having a gathering to celebrate my birthday. I know I've got something from Wee County yarns. I pointed, Andy in their direction at wonderwool. Xx
Really enjoyed watching the drumming footage- it looks such fun to participate in! Glad the water situation has been resolved now for you. Talking of motorbikes we are gearing up for TT here on the island and I think we are expecting about 80,000 again this year!
Lived in Milwaukee for a while, Harley Davidson built there and a zillion overly loud scary looking bikers were everywhere.do not miss. Clare did a great job,no drum thing like that in Illinois to my knowledge. Isn't it amazing how precious potable water is? I try really hard not to take it for granted. Tonight they say we may have northern lights down to 49 latitude so may go wandering at 0300. Take care
Hi Cheryl - hope you got to see the lights. Sadly, I didn't, as in an area with too much light pollution, but may friends have put some wonderful photos online. Thanks and take care xx
Hi from California. Really enjoyed your video.. Drumming looks like fun. Perhaps you could explain the tradition in a future episode. Loved the bus ride..what are the spindly looking trees all along the route? Have a wonderful week. 😊
Hello. Thanks so much. The tradition is largely "some people got drunk and noisy" but I'll try to be more eloquent in a future vlog! I don't know what the trees are,. but my guess is that they are some kind of Yukka. Not an indigenous plant, that's for sure. Thanks and take care xx
Glad to bring back good memories (I'm assuming they are good!) I felt for the bikers with all that rain on the Monday. Take care and hope all is well xx
Yeeees..to be honest I would probably have skipped a "wet one"! Especially these days! Far too old to spend all day squelching around in soggy gear. And it doesn't matter how expensive it is, it finds its way in through the crotch seams everytime 🤣 Ah! Happy days!
Great podcast as always - love the car park! You just reminded me that in a few weeks I have to go to the Isle of Man to babysit my grandchildren whilst my son-in-law comes to Liverpool for an operation. Unfortunately it will be TT week then, so I will see thousands of bikes!
I love the drumming. Your group all look fantastic. Soo much effort made. Crikey your seafront is huge 😳. My husband would love the bikes. He usually goes to Western (Western super mare) bike nights through the summer. I hope your boot sale is successful. And you have a good weekend xx
Thanks Pip. I suppose the seafront is quite long - it never seems that way, but I guess it's because it's not much of a natural bay, so it just goes wide. Funny what you get used to/don't think about, isn't it? Thanks and take good care xx
In my part of Canada we have what we call yard sale, as the name implies we set up table all in our private driway and it is usually on Saturday very early till mid afternoon. It's fun but a lot of work but it is well attended.
Hi. We sometimes have those here, too, or "garage sales" but it's more likely that stuff will be on the yard, rather than in the garage. Thanks so much and hope all is well xx
We have garage sales, yard sales, rummage sales, and yes, serious "sale-rs" show up at zero-dark-stupid o'clock and expect you to have change for their large bills. 🤪
Thank you for the drumming and the travel. And I hope your sale is successful and that there is as much laughter as there are tears my friend
Thanks Valorie - there was a lot of laughter too, and it was a gloriously sunny day. Hope you and Mr J are doing well. Thanks and take care xx
Loved, loved, loved the drumming and the trip around town. And lots of pretty knitting!!!!
Thanks Peggy - much appreciated. Was glad to be able to be out and about! Hope all is well with you xx
Love the drum off , so stirring and great fun ,,❤❤❤
Thanks George - it's a lot of fun - we are getting to know each other's tunes, too! Cheers and take care xx
The drumming is great and I love the bus pics!
Thanks Cathy - it was a beautiful morning. Hope all is well xx

Thank you xx
What fun!!!❤
Thanks Elaine - the drum off was a giggle xx Hope all is well xx

Wonderful video! Fabulous drumming!
Thanks Lisa - I'm very grateful to Clair for capturing it all. Hope you are well xx

Thanks for sharing with us. I know it’s hard to get rid of your dad’s things 💗 sorry you have to do that. have a great weekend.
Thanks Mary - it's a strange feeling, that's for sure. Hope you had a good weekend and that all is well xx

Family weekend for us, having a gathering to celebrate my birthday.
I know I've got something from Wee County yarns. I pointed, Andy in their direction at wonderwool.
Xx
Hi Angela - hope that you had a great birthday with the family. What did Andy choose for you? Take good care and thanks so much xx
I think the lipstick made you look like you were sticking your tongue out 😁
Always a treat to see the drumming ❤️
Take care dearie 😘
Ha! That would be appropriate! Thanks for watching and take care xx
Love all the drumming footage. You look quite elegant in your floral topped hat, looks very Freida Kahloish!
Thanks Esther. Some of the others have the most amazing costumes and face paint - I feel very plain by comparison. Hope all is well xx

The drumming was so enjoyable. As whenever my husband hears this coming from my phone, he said, Is that the drumming lady?
Oh, that's fun! Thanks so much and hope all is well xx

Flea market, garage sales, estate sales. Lol. Great drumming video!!
Thanks so much - and of course the other name we haven't mentioned is "Selling old rubbish for little money" - all apply! Thanks and take care xx

I would have been one of those bikers if we still lived in that there London. Did the May Day Run so many years!
Ah memories 😊

In my city there is one big neighbourhood garage sale a year. Coincidentally it’s today! Off to buy things I certainly don’t need
Ooh - that sounds fun - hope you found some bargains. xx
😃
Thanks Karen xx
In Canada we have yard sales or garage sales. We don’t sell the yards nor the garages, just the ‘stuff’ there. 😂
Hi Karla - we sometimes have those here - better than driving to a field for silly o'clock on a Sunday morning! Hope all is well xx

😂absolutely true!
“Estate” sales also. 😂
Don't forget flea markets. Originally they were very much like boot sales.
Yep - that sounds about right. We took lots of change, just in case! This one wasn't too early - we left Dad's just after 7 - much more civilised xx
