Funny how you don't mention the extreme winters, months of darkness and isolation. Be honest. It's brutal going to school 130 miles from the Arctic Circle.
you make alaska seem like a terrible place to live. Fairbanks is NOT an isolated place to live, actually a pretty big city. The darkness is not as bad as you'd think, and most of the time your gonna be in school, the cold is not a big worry, and summer weather is amazing
@@shibgu9337 I do not consider Alaska as a terrible place to live and I know because I grew up in Anchorage and went to UAF. My comment is that this video should set people's expectations honestly about the conditions of living there. Even being from Anchorage didn't prepare me for how cold it gets or the length of darkness. If you've never experienced -40F, you are in for quite a shock. You're regular winter clothes don't cut it at that temperature. -and yes, the isolation as most students don't have a car and its 6 hrs to the nearest city. These are not criticisms, it's the truth.
I graduated from UAF, and I would caution people against attending this school. While they may put out convincing propaganda, such as this video, the reality is that the degrees don't actually prepare you to join the workforce, there's a high level of incompetence among the faculty and staff, the campus police really don't care about crimes on campus, the liberal arts departments are grossly understaffed and only offer a very small fraction of the courses listed in the catalog (I'm shocked that they're still accredited), and the chancellor and his administration are cold, dishonest hypocrites who rule with an iron fist and punish whistleblowers. Consider yourselves warned.
This definitely makes me want to go to UAF ♡♡
I live down the hill
Going here in august
That's cool to hear, I'll be going in January 😊
