I’ve never had a Manhattan on account for me being to young to drink, but I still have the ratio for a Manhattan as 2-1-2 because that’s the area code for Manhattan in New York City.

One of my favourites. I like it sweet too so usually follow the original Sweet Manhattan recipe from Diffords which allowed for a spoonful of the syrup from the luxardo cherries!

I'm a big fan of a recent concoction I made. I don't think it has an official name but I'm loving it. Closest drink relative I can find is a Gin Ricky but it's not exact as there are a few differences. 2oz of Gin, 2oz of Lime Juice, 1oz of Tart Cherry juice and .5 to 1oz of Simple Syrup depending on how sweet you like it. Shake with ice and strain over a nice ice cube and it's an amazing Cherry Limeade flavor. A friend of mine liked it but enjoyed leaving out the simple syrup and putting in a small amount of red bull. Still delicious. Again no name yet but I'm open to suggestions.

Thank you Steve. Just made my first Manhattan with Rittenhouse, dolin rouge and 2 dashes of angostura bitters and 1 dash of orange bitters. Mixed it and poured it in a chilled Zalto white wine glass and damn! What a fine concoction this is, with an amazing nose. This one is going to become part of my cocktails staple.

I found that for me the best Manhattan I've made, this recipe but I added a bar spoon Luxardo and 3 bar spoons of Cherry Herring. Maybe it's because I don't have any fancy cherries but that's how I add the cherry flavor kick to the drink and it works well.

Since you ask about proportions, when I use 100 proof (50% abv) whiskey in a Manhattan, I like to use equal proportions of whiskey and vermouth. The result is a drink with about the same alcohol content as a 2:1 Manhattan using 80 proof (40 % abv) whiskey, but more of the taste of the vermouth.
