Remember the Alamo? No! Let's encroach onto the land that formed part of the Alamo and build on it! So they did! Scandalous. The missing parts of the Alamo should have been reconstructed so it was all as it originally was, and NO ONE allowed to even build near the perimeter. KAN 11.19 UK
I agree. There was, and remains, plenty of room to build and expand without encroaching on the hallowed ground of the Alama. I mean, it´s Texas for goodness sake! WTF were they thinking to disregard such a historical site? I went there as a kid and it didn't even impress my little impressionable mind because they had reduced it to a cheap looking little tourist trap. I had wanted to see The Alamo, not whatever the hell that was.
why couldn't we at least leave this small party of American history alone for the ages....you can hardly tell what it was,,,,,,Sad that we let progress erase history...
Yes it's pretty large and is just a few miles south of the downtown area. You can drive , take a bike , walk the riverwalk . It's a real 18th century mission, that's from the time of the declaration of independence
Nice. Definitely a must see for any American. Also checked out San Jacinto battlefield and the Fannin massacre. Also a must see for military history enthusiasts.
There are three things I've always wanted to see done. 1). the reconstruction of the Flavian Amphitheatre, AKA the Colosseum 2). the reconstruction of Noah's Ark, (which I believe has been done) and 3). the reconstruction of The Alamo as it was in its day.
They should rebuild it back to the way it was before the battle. People would really get a better perspective of what The Alamo was like for the defenders. I been to the movie set in Bracketville and they allowed me to climb on the walls, go anywhere I wanted to go I believe I took over a thousand photos there. I posed like John Wayne did in the movie when he was killed and I got a strange feeling like the real Crockett was standing there next to me. The church in town did not have a basement and it was a dirt floor. In the scene where they found the gun power, they were coming down from the bell tower to act like there was a basement. The cantina was still the same. In the back room where Crockett and Travis talked, there was pottery on shelves. They let me have one of the pots. I wanted to see the Alamo Set with Billy Bob in it, but it burnt down before I got to go. Yes, we need to REMEMBER THE ALAMO. Those defenders had no choice but to be so brave to die like that. Yes, they could have left. But chose to die for their cause. Very Brave.
@@navybowie I love history, I cant believe that we dont save more reminders. I realize that these locations are extremely old but I was shocked to see how much of them were gone. Again I thank you.
So sad they were allowed to put roads through the and around the Alamo. How there's buildings where the battle took place. So sad. Great video gives us a idea at least! Thank you for preserving history. God bless the men that fought and died for freedom.
It's sad to see that Texas didn't preserve the Alamo and it's surrounding like in 1836. When you go to see the Alamo, it's just a small building that had it's history destroyed !!!!! So sad !!!!!!
Why can 't San Antonians see/ understand to JUST RELOCATE THE LATE 19TH CENTURY BUILDINGS. Stores and houses have been moved forever. , even the London Bridge . But these will stay and be close by, just a few blocks away
In 1859, Menger Hotel next door that shouldn’t been built on Alamo grounds. And in 1947 a large opera house across the Alamo was torn down. A big waste.
Man this is not the Alamo I know like they tore down my favorite walls the walls became streets and buildings and they took the canons of the walls this is not the Alamo all they had left was the church the barracks the low stairs the west wall the south wall and there were a lot of items back in the day.
fully aware of that, did you catch the beginning of the video, just named the video that to narrow it down from all the others. th-cam.com/video/Oxuzpy61q08/w-d-xo.html
No one knows how the REAL Alamo compound looked like on the day of the battle. This is a fake film made by artist, who THINK they know what the Alamo looked liked!
Wow, Beautiful Upload friend. keep it up. Thank you for sharing this to us. Greetings from Korea

Nicely done Dustin! Beautiful juxtapositions and research.
Visited in September 2018 ,very moving ,loved San Antonio .
Great presentation. Thankyou
Its very sad that the Alamo, and the sacrifice made , did not mean that much to the people who benefitted from that sacrifice.
Well done. They were the best of us. God Bless Texas .
Very well made. Thank you!

It isn't American history. It is Texas history and Texas at the time had nothing to do with the US.
Nice piece of work . Well done !
Told ya I'd check it out! Nice work man!
The city of San Antonio is ran and operated by developers. If they could they'd pave the whole thing over.
Like most cities it's all about the buck not history
If you want to see what The Alamo looked like in its best days go see San Jose Mission. It is laid out differently but gives you an idea.

Hear ye, hear ye! This guy speaks the truth.
Acho a historia do Álamo muito bacana. Gostaria de me aprofundar nela e saber corretamente como tudo terminou nos mínimos detalhes.
Such an historic loss to posterity that no one until 1912 had the foresight to protect this place.
Who ever made this video...thank you very much.

Nice job. Use of the music from the 2004 film was especially effective.

If only Sam Houston had ordered the Alamo to be abandoned and the men to join his forces...
It's hard to believe all this land development stands where a great battle once took place.
These pictures were taken taken exactly 10 years ago to the date

They should rebuild what it once was thats sacred ground that represents texas as whole .
It would be hard to do that since there is private property nearby
@@ChivoMKE yeah unfortunately
A shrine to Texas freedom and the death of 190 true Texians who gave their lives for their beliefs.

Texas, legally from the us since 1848, morally was Is AND Will be from México 🇲🇽
Which part did they find the defenders dressed up as women to avoid being executed?
Sounds French to me.
Where did you dig this up?
I will never visit! they ruined it.
Check this one out, gives you a better idea of how things changed over time
