Wow. Who knew. That Alamo has been an inspirational symbol of freedom, bravery, and tenacity for many people all over the world. Thank you, Mr. Collins!
Well done Phil, great musician and singer, what you have done here has so very much appreciation from so very many people who are historians and general public who are interested in the history of this place. Thank you.
What a story, who would of thought an overseas rock star would have the passion of the Alamo and then to share his years of expensive collection with the people of the state of Texas.
I am a descendant of Damacio Jiménez, one of the defenders of the Alamo that perished there and I thank Mr. Collins for his devotion to remember the heroes of the Alamo.
Thank you Phil Collins for your generosity and wonderful gift . Until recently I was unaware that you were an Alamo buff and collector . I shall look forward to viewing these things when I next visit there .
Wonderful... ! Doing things "for the right reasons" , The Master's moto , which we should all try and follow! His hunger to learn more and always is beautiful and having the book... I am totally in awe of his knowledge on that matter, and achievment. I wish i had only 1 ounce of his focus and determination and ability to retain information! JAI GURUJI PHIL COLLINS!
Bravo Mr. Collins !!!!!! even if I am french, appreciate your interest in the Alamo heroes (as myself ...) "Never Forget Alamo" .... and, on the other hand I'm a very very big fan of yours -- as singer 😍
Thank you so much Phil. I would like to see your collection. I have been an Alamo fan for a long time. I hope to get there in this lifetime. I feel like I was there in the last life- time, ie, 1836. I'm a native of Rhode Island; same as defender Albert Martin.
We went to the Alamo to see Phil Collins artifacts donation and were told they were in Austin, Texas being inventoried. That was in 2016. Have they been returned to the Alamo?
Donovan, a Scottish folksinger, who had big rock hits "Sunshine Superman" and "Season of the Witch", had a great song called the Alamo on one of his early albums in the early 60's. I'll bet Phil was familiar with it as he was probably very familiar with Donovan.
PCollins has played a role in the saga of the Alamo that will go down in history along with the events of the battle, pretty cool, 100 yrs from now his name will be known by people who study the subject who wont know anything about him being a pop star.
“Tejas, Mexico” ???? The defacto Mexican government never controlled any of Texas north of the Pecos. And “tejas” was never a Mexican State. Prior to 1821 it had been a Colony of New Spain as was Mexico. There were Spanish settlements in Texas to be sure and some of the settlements south of the Pecos were loyal to the new Mexican government but not many were in favor of Santa Anna’s federal dictatorship, and he never controlled Texas. Spain may have had some control in some Spanish settlements in Texas but the majority of Texas was under the control of the Comanche and Apache. It remained so until Texas became a sovereign Nation and even then the Comancheria was largely uncontrollable until intervention by the US Government. So No There was never a Tejas Mexico
@@onechosenson The reason Santa Anna went to battle at the Alamo was because of the terrorist rebels led by Travis and Davy. The battle of the Alamo was fought in Mexico. All historians know this. Tejas was Mexico. Texas is Texas because Texas is just Tejas in Spanish. Tejas was never in control by Comanche or Apache. They had no government they had no need for it. The terrorist stole the land from Mexico and the natives. Yes Tejas is still Tejas nothing has changed.

A nice gesture, but I understand many of these things are of doubtful provenance. As for his being English, so? I'm an American and I have a large collection of Gilbert and Sullivan books, recordings, and prints, and English china (Wedgewood, etc.).
Poor Phil has not enjoyed the best of health and now his ex bitch wife, who Phil was dating again for four years, has slyly married her toy boy lover locking him out of his house in America. His precious historical Alimo artifacts are in that house and no one should purchase them. Everything belongs to good guy Phil.
My favorite drummer. Wonder if knows the truth? Doing the right thing, was Hollywood version to sell movie tickets, otherwise my great great great great grandmother would have informed him that this land is my land this lands not your land, from California to the gulf stream waters, from Arizona to Nevada Casinos, this land was taken from Latino families and me . ..
@Borroel:I hope one day someone overhears your rant against the heroes of the Alamo.Hopefully they will send you where you will be in therapy for a long time.
Although most of the documents are verified authentic, unfortunately, the rest of Phil’s collection lacks provenance. Many of the items are period correct, but the stories connecting them to the Alamo are unsubstantiated. To make claims, such as about the bullet pouch, one has to have solid proof and extensive documentation. Speculation is fun, wonderful, and inspiring to the imagination, but only addresses possibilities, not authenticated facts.
Another ignorant person who can't show their own face but. have the nerve to insult another! Sorry your so ugly of a person. Never speak of Phil Collins like that. He is loved around the world, Your probably not loved at all!
The Alamo will once again be the site of another battle. No, not against the Mexicans, but against the lefties who try to remove the statue of William Travis, the slave owner who actually had his slave within the walls of the compound during the siege. It's going to be bloody again, but the outcome will be way different. Good luck, loonie lefties.
No one within the Alamo was perfect. But those men offered up their lives for us and that alone deserves the utmost respect. Joe stands with all the other legends of The Alamo as a hero among hero’s. Travis offered to let him leave and he chose to fight. And after the battle he guided the messenger of Texas Susanna Dickinson back to general Houston.
He’s paying for the many years of entertaining people with his fantastic drumming and singing, drumming with bad posture he’s now paying the price. Phil was a workaholic and his drumming was beyond world class. A living legend.
