FISH OHIO CHANNEL CAT!!! - Wading The Great Miami for Catfish with Dip Bait

Today we try a new stretch of the Great Miami River here in Southwest Ohio. The channel catfish have been spawning but are starting to feed up again after coming off the beds. I bring out my channel catfish rig and bait of choice, Triple S Cheese Dip Bait.
I use a Shakespeare Tiger catfish rod with 25 lb mono to a barrel swivel and then a 14 lb mono leader with a size 1 hook. The hook is threaded through a dip bait tube. For more information on how I use dip bait for channel catfish, check out these videos:

What a great day. That catfish system really works well. Groundhogs will do trees to get leaves and evade predators. I've seen them on top of fence posts.

It works great in the river. It needs current to attract the fish upstream. I have never been bit on it in a pond or lake. Most times when catfishing I lie my pole down, don't have to with that stuff. Maybe we were who he was hiding from? 🤪
