Now that’s a blast from the past and such a weird kids show (with the scruffy Pipkins), but brilliant and funny, love it!!! Memories from my school days
Getting off the bus at 2:25 are the production team. First George Portway(Floor Manager) with a young lady. Then Mike Jeans (Producer / Director) followed by Claire Sandford (Stage Manager in glasses)
@@JonathankyddI would say this is the other town of the Hundred Acre Wood the human person being Christopher Robin's friend that takes care of his creepy animal stuff friends
But like instead of the 100 Acre Woods the town is called 200 pipkins town and like all these stuffed animal what's somehow related to Christopher Robin's animal friends
@@Jonathankyddyeah but unlike the 100 Acre Woods residence the Pipkin actually has different types of animals like a turtle and a monkey in whatever Mooney is
Aww I loved Hartley too. I still like hares today and I have lots of hare ornaments, pictures and cushions in my home. Hartley obviously had a lasting impression on me. 🐰❤
Completely charming. I grew up in the countryside and in that era the TV was like a little portal into the "outside world". Looking at Hartley Hare now he does look a little bit as if he could have appeared in "The Wicker Man". Bravo to the modellers for preserving his "animal" otherness. You wouldn't get that nowadays, everything is so sugary sweet for children. The presenters are always terribly well spoken in 1970s Children's TV. Tom (who I remember watching) makes Richard Burton sound like Frank Sidebottom (which is also charming!)
Topov can't get bonked in his lookout! Obviously didn't encounter Savile! This was weird in it's day, but I always watched it, along with Mary, Mungo and Midge, the Herbs and Hector's House et al! I also enjoyed the Banana Splits and The Jacksons cartoons, Pink Panther and Charlie Brown and Peanuts!
Thank you for this! For so many years I thought I'd imagined Pipkins because no other person my age had heard of it. I think maybe bcos it was on during the day and I was off school sick.... a lot! ..lol
Somehow Topov just came up in conversation between my wife and I. So, I found this episode on TH-cam and traumatised my 21 year old son with it. Hartley the Hare was a wreck! Bloody loved Pipkins!
He was supposed to be a bit mangy as he'd been made out of a sack. They kept this idea going by throwing him into a cupboard. All the other puppets were in plastic bags on hangers.
@@Jonathankydd id forgotten that if it ever registered with me as a young kid in the 70s. However, it all sounds pretty sketchy now 😂 It’s amazing how things we watched 50 years ago can just be in our heads waiting to be dug out. All the characters’ names just flooded back as soon as my wife mentioned Topov!
OH MY Pipkins TV series I remember watching as a kid. I was 8 when it first aired in 1973 When both the BBC and ATV were at the ‘top of their game’ ATV was owned in part by Lew Grade When life was much simpler and happier. However as kids nothing seemed to phase us. Is your name any connection with Sam Kydd??? ❤️❤️❤️👍 👍 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴😃😃
My partner loved piokins as a kid to sadky he passed awayv2 trsxago he wiykd have koved to havr seen these he kiked octavia made our childhood this show
Life was tough in the 70s UK but it was still a million times better than now, Christmas was really special back then
Great times, could still play football in the street
When it got dark
I blame the drugs
Oh I bet with all the puppets crawling about and living in places with those annoying questions, had to drive you brits Bonkers
People had patience then waiting a week for stuff. The only thing on demand were vending machines!

Great stuff, lovely show and I love Topov's little hat.

Topov could not have anticipated the van and bus life trend

2:09 different bus to the one they boarded, this one is headed to Potters Bar, the earlier bus was going to Chingford
yes we got thrown off en route. "Can't have animals on the bus" said the driver
The Fire Station looks like the old one in Plaistow

Discovering now that people were scared of Hartley Hare....how? Now if they had seen Sparks on Top of the Pops, that was scary 🤣
Hartley was more scary than Sparks
9:51 How times have changed...
😅😅 kids would scream if you told them that now, Hartley definitely not nostradamus

Fantastic!!!
I’ve heard of “Pipkins”, I knew you were in it and all so that’s why I came here. ✌️☺️
Yeah Hartley fits in well on a rough council estate
The story The Grass is Greener, sounds like a similar version to The Billy Goats Gruff.
I think Topov would be diagnosed ADHD if this was 2024 .
you're right!
Topov, what a great name and he sounds like he has a kids voice? Great show, weird show, classic show!
At the credits, it says Elizabeth Lindsay. I knew it was a woman all along, she sounds exactly like Dorothy The Dinosaur from The Wiggles.
The grass is always stronger as we learnt later in life...
Interesting that this was the UK answer to Sesame Street.
Tom? 7:10
Can I have…a banana? =3
Someone should push Topov off his lookout
Yeah , he got right on my tits!!
😂😂
Double denim geezer
Top of seems to represent a child but these days children would see taking the bus as a hardship, they want to be driven everywhere.
Topov is a bit thick. I liked Hartly though.
Topov is needy af!
Compared to my cousin Topov was a Frickin Genius 😂
😂
I remember an episode were the pig fed its plant custard and chips...that's about it.

Hartley looks very unkempt and threadbare.
he was! he was supposedly made out of a sack!

probably because he has an East European 🇪🇺 name. Brexit means Brexit !! 😂
I love Topov the Marvellous Monkey.
@@grugnark KICK ROCKS!!!!!!!

Makes a better Skinhead too with the braces
